Where's that from?
Their official IP policy.
Now apparentlt this has been policy since 2006 from what I've found, but it's never really been enforced probably because GW really doesn't want to open themselves up to losing which could affect their IP rights.

Either way, proof that GW doesn't give a damn about it's fans otherwise they'd offer to sell liscence rights to animators instead of forcing them to work for them.

So, a tabletop game and IP built around this idea is something that these idiots want to change to be something straight outta a capeshit flick. Christ.

I"m sure there's proper tabletop games for their desires, but Warhammer seems to be the biggest one asfaik.
That's kind of the crux of it. The 4chan hackers at /tg/ and elsewhere dedicate an embarrassing amount of time rehashing the entire lore, creating alternative settings and making custom codexes.

These people don't. They want the 'canon' and company completely changed to suit them.

GW has completely banned fan films, even ones made for free.

That's a really demoralizing stance, I wonder what's going on. Are they salty a single passionate and talented boi created Astartes? Maybe they mean monetized and licensed characters only though. They certainly can't fuck with satire.

isn't the entire point of warhammer 40k that every faction is villainous in some light? I keep seeing people harp on how it's a fascist series and I'm like nigga, the entire game is centered around a dystopian horrorscape of a galaxy where every faction is kind of villainous in some way.
Technically but in recent years and likely for mainstream appeal they've started to position the Imperium as the good guys. It makes for easier marketing if you don't have Black Templars violently ripping people apart for the crime of not going to church of Sisters of Battle cleansing entire population because their rate of birth defects was deemed too high.

Well that's the nature of the bandwagon isn't it, people want to be part of what is popular and not what they'd personally like. So FOMO kicks in they watch some youtube videos (probably some Text to Speech) start posting memes but when they eventually realise that 40k is really not a satire (if you've read any of the novel or backstory it's all played pretty straight actually...) then they start attempting to have elements changed to be more to their liking,

don't know how Tau players are but Tau fanboys in the loredom/YT community are fucking atrocious.
Lets not even get started about their bad hair

Nothing about mods yet but give them time. They're going Japanese levels of protecting their IP.

People seem to forget that every country has their own copyright laws and ideas of fair use. The world isn't America.

Also, fan films have been banned for awhile
My guess is they're going to start enforcing their rules.

so basically, it's just lazy people who never thought "hmn, where's the capeshit in this grimdark"

I like how WH40k plays a lot of themes and cliches in such a fucked up way. While I like the lore vids, I find the Imperium to be the only vaguely hero-ish ones but that's more of a "best of the worst" scenario.

i.e. what i know of the factions, Imperium's the closest to being generally heroic. . .antiheroic? I guess. The Tau are kinda chumps. The craftworld eldar don't seem to have a ton of push it seems. And as for the rest, I don't know.

So YouTube's resident 40k troon made a video on this shit.
At around the 16:15-25 mark heshe says that "Astarte" (pronounces Astar-tay) backed out.

Does heshe mean Syama Pedersen, the Astartes guy or is there another 40k animation YouTube channel simply called Astarte? I tried looking but didn't find anything.

Because if he legit backed out good for him.

Will try to listen later but if it's specifically 'Astarte' then yeah it's Pederson.

Our club doesn't have any tau players, so the first one I meet was when we played 7ed apocalypse out of town. He had 3x5 fire warriors, 6 riptides, 2 armless chickens, and a bunch of forge world suit variants including titan. And he unironically made knelling riptide meme. Against him was a guy with wooden stormbird mounted on the pan that destroyed half of his army with destroyer blast turn one. What a fucking disaster ladies and guntlemen.
The latest lore has them creating a stable warp wormhole on accident allowing them to cut across the galaxy, and their entire 4th expansion army that was lost in said wormhole before it stabilized being what appears to be possessed by Khorne. And then the other side of the wormhole turns out to be right in front of a Death Guard fleet, IIRC. And that's all happening at the same time they're realizing their infiltrate and brainwash the Imperials with consumer goods does diddly fuck all to deal with a Genestealer Cult doing the same thing on Imperial Worlds.
4th expansions basically became imperials who want to purge all the xeno filth. I kinda like tau's slow realisation that they are fucked and imperium is right.

No shit? This I'd love to see so I can mock them.
Here's a good one, look at the replies
Also here's one where brand loyalists claim a popular South Korean fan artist discontinued making 40k content due to yikes tier chuds and not GW's terrible PR that the same artist credited for his cessation.

Reddit is fucking gay.

I had to look up "kneeling riptide" because I didn't know what that was. Why is Tau shit so gay?

Because it's attempting to appeal to mecha-anime-Gundam fans.

How did they make a bunch of nigger female heads but not bother making different bodies so they don't look like the toys from Sid's house in Toy Story?
How much effort do you really want to put into pandering? It's not like this is going to bring in a wave of new black players or anything, all they're doing to pandering to the existing playerbase. The progressive nutcases get to feel like GW is listening to them and soon the Emperor of Mankind will return to bring the world of Karl Marx to the Imperium of Man (and give them female space marines) while even those players who don't care will be like "well always nice to get more options".

Fair on all points. God damn I'm tired of seeing token nigger women in media with dreadlocks shoved into everything.

Speaking of Reddit, the main 40k sub did a huge faggy ass virtue signaling sticky which includes:

and this dick sucking crap

1626867896463.png

Reminder that GW literally has made a career out of IP theft for the past 30+ years, they don't have a single property that isn't made up of the best cherry picked ideas of other franchises which they have shoehorned and shoved in, tetris style, into their product.

I'm 99% sure they already do get special privilege. Tabletop Minions I'm pretty sure got early release copies of Kill Team, and I think Nick mentioned someone at a PR firm connected to GW had put feelers out.

I suspect they just make sure to only do it for the influencers who aren't edgy or political in either direction. Tabletop Minions for example is calm as fuck and doesn't touch controversy with a 10 foot pole -- not even when all the other 40k channels are dogpiling for clout.

Edit: For example, Age of Sigmar 3rd Edition.

He DID do some gayass virtue signaling after the ascension of St. Floyd.

In 30 some-odd years, I’ve played a GW game with one black guy and have seen a handful of ugly girls trying to get the attention they crave by half-assing it in all-male gaming groups.

Look at any of the photos or camera footage of a tournament. If you see anything but a white guy, you squint, draw closer, and say to yourself, ‘Is that a ______?”

Despite the diversity screeching, it’s going to be awhile before you have two non-White male opponents in a row. Even if one of them is in a dress and tries to tell you his pronouns before the game starts.
I’ve known of three black guys that got into 40k. Two of them were adopted by nerds and the other got into it while in the army via a friend. I’ve known more latinos and Asians though who were into the hobby. I’ve never seen a black or hispanic woman who was into 40k. I’m sure somewhere out there is one, but it’d be like seeing Bigfoot.
