That is the military with prison gay surely being a thing, with a rather lax commissar.
don't forget armies usually have a lot of non-military attachments like sutlers.
but r&r with some ogryn prostitutes isn't really the point of the game...

But sadly there isn't a real-world analogue to the toaster enthusiastic.
What’s there to think about? They’re post-human, relentlesssly carving away weak and withered flesh and bone and replacing it inch by inch with divine tech, slowly merging into the great mechanicus cyberconsciousness that may or may not have its roots in a Necron God-AI. A techno-fetishistic cargo cult who may one day commit the ultimate heresy, rendering the Emperor pointless by developing a navigation and travel system that no longer requires the Astronomican. The shrivelled brains of unbelievably ancient technomages given homes in metal shells while their minds form a galaxy-spanning electronic gestalt, trembling on the verge of threatening the very balance that has so far preserved humanity’s place among the stars.

Which is why I find the pronoun thing to be such colossal, dick-cranking, self-aggrandizing indulgent SocJus bullshit. Think someone who has spent a thousand years in the service of the machine god gives a fuck about PRONOUNS? Holy shit Thorpe, just go back to being a third rate knockoff of an actual writer.

Exactly, sjw peonouns are a sex thing. A special pronoun for a techpriest would be -it- , as they aspire to be a machine.
I had thought that the Mechanicus start off from the assumption that humans are just machines, but made up of flesh and blood. So it logically follows from the fact if a machine has a broken part you replace it, so too they will replace their failing flesh with mechanical parts.
So I'm not sure if that means they want to become machines as much as their intention is to become better machines.

IIRC they aspire to become one with the Omnissiah, as it’s better to communicate with the Machine God by direct interface than by using clumsy words uttered by flesh. Effectively their great irony (every army in 40K has one) is that in their quest to serve the Imperium, and therefore humanity, they strip away much of that which makes them human.

So while I'm still off at a jobsite itching to get home for a chance to paint my child's action figures super serial grown-up models I decided to waste some downtime messing with a Ripper stl file I found.
I went for a Ripper because its a simple model, obviously in real life it might be hard to get this level of detail on such a small model. However, I feel like it makes a nice proxy for what color scheme I plan to dress up my Flyrant, Warrior Prime and Venomboi in.

Too garish? Too simplistic? Thoughts?

Looks great, all the colors compliment each other. It'll be a lot of work though!

I think the colors are great, but maybe the big spots on the limbs all being roughly the same size might be too visually busy. It might look more natural to have the the spots closer to the talons gradually get smaller, or even only keep it to the upper limb.

Anyone know if this stl is being sold anywhere? I haven't had any luck finding it.
