It would be really stupid if Nubia ended up being her own character instead of a variant of Wonder Woman. Hope that doesn't happen.
If they can come up with a unique enough moveset, I don’t mind. This isn’t like Smash where there’s a limited number of slots for characters. So long as the game does well, they’ll keep adding to it. The season is only like 3 months and we’re getting like 6-7 characters minimum.

You do have a point but I'd rather have other DC characters such as the Joker, Plastic Man, and the Flash.

People still auto-decline rematch if you kick their ass with Taz.

They'll still call you a 'taz move spammer' even if you use the move once. Lmao.
Probably going to happen with any character that was heavily broken in the beta. People who play Finn and Iron Giant will still get yelled at, even if they never touch backpack/butt stomp.

Big respect if you main Taz. I hardly see him, but when I do it's a high level who understands the character and shows he is not a character to underestimate tornado or not.

Started playing him, and he is very hard to deal with for low ranked people.

Very few people know how to keep him away and how to get past his edge guard, so he's a lot more payoff than Garnet, my current main.

I have some random thoughts about game stuff.

1. I am worried about how giant characters will be handled, and honestly hope Iron Giant is the first and last. The balance issue with smaller characters ends up with someone feeling cheated - if giants are too good it feels like they get everything for free because of huge range and damage, but if they're too bad you just feel the size is a liability and you can't even play when getting combo'd for a minute straight. I feel like IG being very weak overall is the better of the two bad options and the novelty will keep him somewhat popular despite it.

2. I feel like kills off the top of the map are far too common and kills off the side are far too rare. With all the aerial movement options, the seriously lacking horizontal kill power and way far out blast zones side ring outs almost never happen. I've hit people with full charged strong attacks at 130 damage that have been unable to get side kills. Conversely, the top blast zone is seriously low, almost every character has a good and powerful up aerial and spikes will just bounce people of the ground right into the blast zone at much lower damage than a horizontal hit. Why bother setting up multiple dangerous attacks over the blast zone to side ring out when you can just spike into the ground? I swear, my top/bottom/side kill ratio has to be like 60/30/10... I dread getting side kill dailies, speaking of which...

3. Some of the daily/seasonal milestones are just... obnoxiously specific and annoying things. One of my first seasonal milestones was 25 below-60 damage kills which is just not something that is going to happen to often when you're paired against competent opponents, you're usually getting into the mid 100s and maybe pushing 200 sometimes. I thought that was bad but the next week... 75(!) off-stage kills, wow. While more frequent than low damage kills, that is just such a huge amount. I like to spike into the bottom as much as the next guy, but as stated with the top blast zone segment it's just sub-optimal and far less conditional when you can get the same result spiking on the stage and bouncing up top. I know you have a long time to do seasonals, but if you go out of your way to try for them you're playing worse and if you played just enough for daily quests the entire season there are some I wonder if that would be enough, and that is a pretty good amount of matches. The 120 seconds or less win daily sucks for the same reason as low damage kills. I miss the win matches as a specific class daily outside of tank... it was obnoxious in the seasonal version (75 is way too high for most things) but 2 victories was a good way to encourage trying other characters and limited worse dailies.

You can get milsestones against AI opponents.

I did see that too. You can reliably knock an enemy out horizontally at 100%, spike them at around 50%, but a fully charged horizontal attack will barely get them off the edge of the level.
Its still a bad sign to me because its the dev team saying "stop having fun".
The 'they make money off of skins' excuse is BS.

Edit: I've broken Taz

If you take the Ice to Beat You and I'll Take That, you can apply ice with your neutral attacks, ground and air, and follow up with a tornado/dogpile for massive CDR. If the ally stacks your I'll Take That perk, you can actually negate the entire cooldown of your tornado

Anyone out there feel like the connection issues and lag are getting worse? Ever since the season 1 update dropped, I've had nothing but two bars, characters stopping in place and teleporting, and really fucked up feeling exchanges every time I go to scrap with someone.
I've seen some discussion about it out there, but idk if the devs have said anything.

I've noticed lag sneaking in as well since the season start. Sometimes it's minimal, sometimes I'm suddenly in the blast zone when I was grounded not even a second ago. Most can be blamed on a mass influx of newer players.
I have noticed the lag I experience always seems to favor the opponents team though, their attacks always take priority over mine if we collide at the same time (even when I have move priority), they constantly hit right through safe moves or moves I'm already midway through when they attack. I have lost very few matches explicitly to lag though, most of the people I get it with are too braindead to capitalize on it, and I have tons of experience playing in lag (thank you glory days of the Internet).

I’ve had a couple matches with obvious lag, but it’s few and far between for me. But I’m also only play like an hour and a half a day so I don’t burn myself out on it.

The biggest problem in this game is the dodge mechanic being way too safe and spastic to properly punish against. Two dodges in the air with the current dodge recovery is a nightmare to land confirms. I have had matches where we were literally going back and forth with trying to hit each other and than dodging out of the way to safety. And it's always abused by Bugs and Jakes who abuse their best moves like side air. Whiff lag doesn't matter much if your hitbox comes out quick, wide, active longer than it should be as well as safely getting out of harms way due to recovery or dodging doing the work to stop anyone attempting to punish.

Also whiff lag means fuck all for bugs. His startup and hitbox on his moves are too quick and wide combined.

It has potential but it needs to calm the fuck down.

I dunno, I actually really enjoy the spastic dodging stuff. When all four people are just in a big pile dodging like crazy and trying to land a hit, it immediately makes me think of the “cloud of smoke caused by people fighting” you see in old cartoons all the time.

If you ask me, the safe movement options with the dodges encourage a more aggressive playstyle. The 2 dodge system is a double-edge sword. It may be easier for your opponent to recover, but it also allows you to reliably chase and knock them into the blast zone.

You can't go into this thinking it will play like smash bros as that is clearly not the case. They really want you to get all up in your opponent's grill.

Game’s been fully out less than a month and people are already smurfing.

I fear this game may (not will) be a case of a good game that somehow gets worse with each update. I could be wrong but it seems people's opinions keep going slightly lower and lower by the update.

Yea I noticed that too. A lot of 1v1 games were just the guy waiting there for me to attack. If I came the way he wanted, he'd punish with the safest attack, otherwise he'd dodge. It's not really fun to be the attacking side when the other guy can safely dodge to the other side of the map in 3 seconds. It might not seem like it for low skill players, where the opponent can't take full advantage of this, but mid-high level skill level it's annoying. Hell, I've seen player dodge out of a Taz tornado or Garnet's fist combo.

So far the updates have been alright and I think the dev team knows how to analyze characters. But the battlepass has been lacking.

Nevertheless, I can see how that can happen. I think it's too early to tell, and we will see more signs as the game goes on.
