i think the dry-up was inevitable. lolcows do tend to grow out of it or at least learn to hide their tracks. of course, chris would never do this. i feel like he would have kept going on indefinitely if it weren't for bob's death. he was uploading bullshit days just before bob died. if bob was healthy and had ten, twenty years left in him? i feel like cwc's story would have continued. bob's death really upset the balance in the family and triggered something in chorb, and now they've become paranoid hermits. it's a much sadder end than you'd expect from such a ridiculous tale.

So okay, just think of it this way: what motivation does he have to post new stuff online?

Taking down ED? Nope, he's given up on that.

The LoveQuest? Nope, he's pretty much given up on that too.

Battling trolls? Nope, no one's trolling him like that anymore, and he probably wouldn't bite if they tried.

Pleasing the Sonichu fanbase? Nope, he hates them now.

Getting back in touch with his High School friends? Nope, now he hates them too. (Or at least he's realized that they hate him.)

If we're just talking about this particular time, yes. But we have to keep this in mind- something will happen. And when it does, he will be back.

And if it doesn't, then hey, there's still an entire internet to journey though. So who knows?

I spend more time wondering what Chris does all day than thinking about what I will do tomorrow.

Was Chris' well of hilarity inevitably going to dry up? Totally.
Will he ever return? Not in any substantial way. I can see public Facebook posts rising again in the future but I don't think it will be THAT interesting. Besides that we'll need to wait for insiders to fill us in on what's new with Chris.
What is he doing all day? I vote PS3. Don't you have to be online to have the stats updated? He wasn't much of an online gamer to begin with so I don't think there's a need for him to be online. Besides that putzing around Ruckersville and getting mommy q-sands.

Well no, Chris only appears online because he's dragged online.
Or he finds something online that he wants something from, like lego contests and hypothetical high school reunions. Chris only goes online these days if he perceives a benefit to him from it. At this point even he realizes there's little benefit to himself from making videos where he pretends to dig up Patty and so on. While I can think of a few ways to make Chris get back online, I can't think of how the results would be worth the effort.
Chris still does play tons of video games which use the internet.
Unless I'm confused about how the Playstation Network works, I don't think he's even been doing that. His online Playstation-3 activity has been extremely spotty for the past few months, sometimes going weeks to a month between sessions. I would suspect he's been playing it offline, but doesn't PSN record things like achievements gained offline, and then update the online records whenever one connects again?

So far as I can guess, there are three possibilities:
  1. Chris really isn't playing his vidya all that much, which beggars the question: just what the heck is he doing?
  2. Chris is playing the vidya like normal, but not winning many trophies. The rental home he is in does not have dedicated internet so Chris has to use his phone to connect online for things like facebook. He has to go to even more extreme lengths getting his PS3 online. Maybe he hauls it somewhere with free WiFi every few weeks. Does Chris know about using a cell phone as a mobile hotspot?
  3. Chris has got his grubby mitts on a brand new shiny Playstation-4 out of the insurance settlement / care package / credit cards but flubbed the setup so it's assigned to a new PSN account that we haven't discovered yet that's different from the old account we know about. He's been playing that and neglecting his PS3 except for a few specific PS3 games like Buylanders that require special additional hardware.
There are things that are odd or unlikely with each of these possibilities. If anyone else has a better suggestion for just what the heck is going on with Chris' internet and vidya I'd like to hear it.
Well I think its safe to assume that the rental property would come furnished, that's pretty much SOP for insurance companies. So chances are Chrissy has his own bed and tv and what not.
This. Chris definitely has his own bedroom and his own bed at the new rental. The insurance company was unaware of Chris' "special" sleeping arrangement with Barb, and probably would have rented a room and a bed for him even if they were aware of it. Whether or not Chris is allowed to sleep in that rented bed…

These periods of radio silence are the norm now. Hard to make waves on the internet when about all you're doing is playing with legos, watching tv, and playing video games. Doesn't do anything to make me lose interest though. He's fascinating on his own, and trolling attempts now just seem lame.

No, I mean that literally, Chris doesn't believe that when he looks into the window of the internet, he'll see any people. Again, wax museum.

I'm not entirely sure Chris believes in other people at all. From his treatment of other field agents, and McDonald's employees, it's really as if everyone else on Earth is merely a pokayman for Chris to encounter.

I'm talking about the internet where the sharks swim. I'm talking about Chris posting youtube videos, making public posts and tangling with trolls. That's the internet shenanigans I care about. And that's dead, unless we get back into the picture.

I'm not suggesting Chris be trolled, but if someone were so inclined, what would be the chances of this? It made a lot of sense to stop the Trollin' Train when Bob died, and I think it was a very generous move to keep it stopped since. However, Bob's been gone a while, Chris's life hasn't changed one bit (least of all for the better) and Barb seems to have it in her to be around a while longer. Is it possible someone might say "Hey, this could be fun..."

Again, that's not a request to troll Chris. I'm firmly on the side that thinks Chris is way more interesting when he's Tarding of his own accord. The Calling Out Saga was particularly lame because of this.

He practically dropped off the face of the earth for a year, then out of nowhere he built that replica of his old high school. Had us all in awe as he showed his creation off in what appeared to be a McDonalds in all it's wonderful autistic glory. I found it surprising and I don't think a lot of people saw it coming. And yet all of a sudden, there it was.

He could stay gone for months, years, if not forever. Or he could be back full of special individual passion tomorrow. Only time will tell. In the meantime we have a wonderful forum here to discuss a wide variety of related and unrelated topics and have ourselves a ball. :D

Even without people trolling him and paying him attention, Chris still is going to get himself in troubles. Even if nobody's there to see it.

It ain't over 'till it's over.
or perhaps... it ain't over 'til the fat tomgirl sings...

Yeah, we are seriously perplexed at what his daily activity is currently. It's reasonable to assume he's still checking this forum every day, but that only takes a couple minutes. He goes to Sheetz or wherever to get good quality food for himself and Barb. But what else occupies his time? Does he just stare at a wall and hate gays all day or something?

he's still playing that iOS The Simpsons game religiously daily. I can only see that he plays it everyday, but not how long each day. The game isn't even that complicated, it's mostly sending characters on timed 'quests' for rewards and tapping things. Right now there's an 'event' going on in the game, so I have to check on it twice a day, but whenever things are slow I can play it only once a day, and it only takes me 20 minutes at most to be done. I know Chris has spent a ton of money on the premium stuff, so I don't imagine he's powergaming his way through the game all day, but it'd be funny if he just kept sending his characters on the shortest quests (anything from 1 minute to 30), chaining them and just generally enslaved to his phone all day. There's that one dude who had two ipads to be the best in clash of clans, playing while showering, even. Chris doesn't shower, he has an edge there.

When projecting into the future we have to be careful not to hold to much constant. Not necessarily with Chris, but with the world. Chris rose to prominence at the same time Youtube and Facebook did. Twitter and Smartphones rose a little afterwards.

We don't really know exactly how people will communicate 5 or 10 years from now, and how that will affect how Chris communicates with others and how we can observe him.

Yeah, heh, the issue wasn't whether Chris had a bedroom. He had a bedroom at 14BC, Barb just didn't let him sleep in it.

Haha, well yeah. I would say there are ranges for how much of a person you are to Chris. I think he thinks of internet trolls as one big mass of robots programmed to hate and torture him, by Megan or Clyde or someone. He definitely remembers all the times he's tried to yell at them, to no avail. I don't think he's going to come back, substantially, because he knows he can't yell the trolls into stopping. He's tried.

He's also annoyed, because in the huge mass of robot trolls, there are things he wants (girls on dating sites, for example), but he can't get them because he always gets his hand slapped by the robot trolls.

Well, first you have to understand Chris' psychology, how he thinks. That immediately cuts out all of the weens. Like, listen, watch, read every piece of Chris material you can, and that's a good place to start.

Chris is super paranoid now, so even if you do understand Chris, you've got to be pretty smart to know what to say to get past his paranoia.

Inside connections definitely help. IRL access to Charlottesville definitely helps. Hell, if you can meet Chris IRL, you're a permanent insider, no questions asked. Like Anna.

I don't think there's going to be much trolling, if any, in the future because the number of people/groups who have the above skills is like, 5 people/groups. And most of them just don't care to troll Chris. Like the inner circle has lost interest, and only talks about updates once in awhile, if they're funny enough. I don't know, maybe we'll change our minds, if we get a good idea. We're just watching like, kroll show and stuff.

While we're on the subject of insiders and all that: do the people in regular contact with Chris have any sort of "exit strategy" or are they just going to abandon him one day? Or would he not notice either way?

Odds are, if he DID notice that people were decamping from his life en-masse, he'd react the same as he did with his 'crusades' to reconnect with his school gal-pals. He'd whine about how much happier he was when he had 'so many friends', maybe put a few posts on FB demanding attention from them, and otherwise do nothing to actually get back in contact.

I'd like to think that all this silent time is from Chris getting doing productive shit and getting his life back together. Exercising, cleaning the houses, showering, having friends without scaring them away. Not likely but one can hope?

Exercising, cleaning the houses, showering, having friends without scaring them away.

He doesn't know how to do any of those things.

Well maybe he has an idea of how, but has he ever shown any inclination to do any of that?
