I know Autism Walker is really stupid and all but come on dude. The game is about the last city on Earth being under attack by extradimensional demon monsters. The police in the game are only police in name, they fucking spend all their time fending off monster attacks.

Also see him complaining about the difficulty and in-game ranking system calling it too easy. Wonder what the chances are he is just playing on the casual difficulty which is where the game starts you out on by default. Can't even access the highest difficulty for a chapter until you beat it one time normally, and we know most mainstream journos just do one quick run of a story as fast as they can skipping everything that isn't mandatory.

Serious question: who would hire Austin Walker at this point? I mean, Klepek is lazy, phony and a grifter, but I can see him going into games PR so he can keep milking his industry contacts, or maybe into music reviews so he can shill his brother instead of ZQ & Phil Fish.

But Austin is a true believer, he’s got a Master’s so he’ll want way more than he’s worth, he’s toxic, and he seems to want to be a “personality”, so he’s probably not going to be satisfied going into a community or PR role for a while till people stop hating him.

All of Games Journalism is worthless so he has places to go. Nothing as cushy as "editor in chief" or "director of x" I'm certain, but he can probably milk several more years out of being mad about veiled racism in video games.

What I imagine he'll do is some really off the wall Patreon nonsense, though, following in the footsteps of Drew Scanlon and Danny O'Dwyer. If that tanks I imagine he'll try and slink back over to Giantbomb.

Maybe. I was going to say that Drew has the advantage of being likeable, attractive and really good at being interesting. But O’Dwyer doesn’t, so Austin probably can too.

I don't dislike Drew, but his Patreon thing is very much "video game adjacent" and much more of a travel/history thing. Danny's thing seems like a documentary thing but it often comes across as thinly veiled PR and/or lazy.

I imagine Austin's patreon adventure will be something also "video game adjacent" and will probably involve travel. I imagine it will be a video series that rarely talks or focuses on video games.
