Fuck this game I'm going back to Factorio. It just crashes to desktop every time I try to start it.

I pirated a beta build a few months ago.
Imo the game's progression is poorly thought out. Train's should not be one of the last things you unlock like wtf???
You'd think a 3D game would lend more complexity than a 2D game, but it doesnt.

I think I'll just wait for factorio 2.0 to release.

Oh so much new not talked about stuff!

So far I'm having a blast, won't spoil anything but yay! I'm oddly excited to be running around again without my jetpack.

"Ficsit; short term solutions to long term problems"

I love it

been looking forward to this for a while, i wonder if they finally did something with the berry dog thing, hopefully you can just leave it at base now rather then having to box it into a little pen.

an excerpt from the 1.0 changelog

BALANCING

Milestones changes

  • The Jetpack Milestone can now be unlocked at the start of Tier 5, no longer requiring Oil resources.
  • Trains can now be unlocked without needing Heavy Modular Frames or Computers.
  • Train Signals now have their own Milestone.
  • Fuel Generator now has its own Milestone and no longer requires Heavy Modular Frames or Computers to unlock.
  • Some Milestone costs between Tier 3 and 8 have been slightly adjusted to improve progression flow.
  • Control System Development has been added to Tier 7, featuring the Blender, Radio Control Unit and Supercomputer.

Phase 4 costs

  • The cost for unlocking Phase 4 has been reduced, hopefully allowing pioneers to reach Phase 5 before the heat death of the universe.
phases now go up to 9 btw, and for how hefty the milestones are... the length of each phase increases logarithmically if you want to build parts apace instead of 0.0001 per minute. the game doesn't even really begin until you unlock trains. previously I've been frustrated that manufacturers are required to build trains, because at that point, I want to gather all the resources into one area *using trains* for the manufacturer supply line, but you need manufacturers to build trains... etc

Great game, glad it's finally 1.0.

Snuck out of work early today.

How is the 1.0 performance? Have they talked about it at all? On my last save the GPU had the highest usage of any game I played despite lowering all settings and keeping everything walled off in big cubes. I don't really want to spoil myself with the patch notes and videos.
So at least for now in the early game, it runs great.

I brute forced my old factory into 1.0 and it also runs well. No different than before even in busy areas, but my computer is pretty powerful. It runs at full throttle though and gets noisy. But the game itself runs well with a stutter here and there.

Okay, got done playing for a wee bit, although the time-warping features of the game have reappeared... Started playing, and before I knew it the game was saying "2 hours played" and suggested I get a FICSIT protein bar... LOL

Going up and down ladders to change my perspective so I can see what I'm doing when building completly ruined the game for me. I know it gets easier later on due to new mobility tech but god damn. I just didn't have the patience to sit here and struggle when theres so many other games to play. Then it got worse when I decided to rebuild my base in a more effecient manor and realized what a slow process it would be to tear everything down. I'd rather just go play factorio. 🤷‍♀️

I've always found Satisfactory a little meh. As @Sulla mentioned, it's progression isn't great. After a while, I get board with it, and I've not touched it for a few months.

Satisfactory's fun, but really needs like, a jetpack or something. It takes a while to traverse the terrain, and the limited inventory and storage space means you have to trek back and forth to get all the supplies you need to build stuff. It's a very slow game. Fun world to explore, though.

Factorio is played by PHD engineers and tech nerds
Satisfactory played by trannies and children
Factorio is played by some of the smuggest faggots on the internet, as demonstrated right here.

Satisfactory's fun, but really needs like, a jetpack or something.
It has a jet pack. One that relies of fuel, and another which pulls power from near by power lines. If you have a long stretch of power lines, you can use a zip line (cheaper than jet packs but they're kinda shit) to traverse across them. The jet packs take a little time to get though.

GCN 4/5 cards are on a different branch of adrenalin than RDNA, and obviously they're getting slower updates at this point. Adrenalin 24.7.1 does, in fact, exist... But not for your card. Yet. Maybe never, but definitely not yet. So, suffer, or choose vulkan. or get a new gpu. used 2080 TIs are quite reasonable on ebay these days.
a jetpack or something

oh the automated Bio-Burners...omg so welcome

I have 2K of power now just on the little buggers cuz I don't have to hand feed them any longer

One thing I said in the Factorio thread is that the train system really makes the game click, once you start setting up your rail networks it feels like a whole new game is unlocked. I never really felt that in my time with satisfactory, maybe I needed to play more? Having Factorio but 3d seems like it would add more depth, you have a whole other dimension to work with, but in my experience i would just build vertically instead of horizontally so it's still 2ish dimensions. Making your factory look cool is also tedious in 3d, whereas in Factorio it just looks cooler the more shit you build. For 3d Factorio I enjoyed Dyson Sphere Program more.

Anyways: Achievements and all, supposedly a 'story finale' included, are you gonna play it?
If I can find someone to play with. The game (at least in early access) seemed to be designed around groups of people.

I'm hoping for a bunch of QoL improvements for mass building, and building over long distances.

The amount of grinding is what puts me off. As others have mentioned, early game feels about right, but by late game there was a lot of "well, this system is done, just got to wait 4 hours for it complete".

I think that time is meant to encourage you to make your system more efficient. But yes, it definitely feels like a huge time sink sometimes.

I played a lot of the much earlier versions, and more recently gave a go where I decided I wanted to use vehicles as much as possible to break up the pace, since I always make conveyor belts across the entire map. Trains are meh and trucks are truly awful. I also got bored of scaling up at one point.

I think it's really missing the pressure of mobs attacking that Factorio has, so something interesting can happen even while you're just waiting for production to fill up. I also keep falling into a trap of trying to be space efficient and using a lot of vertical buildings and just hemming myself in. Still thinking the new features should be worth a playthrough though.

you can downgrade your driver to the previous version, or add -vulkan (or maybe even -d3d11) to your launch options for the game btw. it's not really their fault AMD broke dx12 with unreal (and a whole lot more tbh, I'm surprised if this is the only issue you've ever had with that driver version) in that version and haven't fixed it yet.
