Thank you for inviting me here @Sweeter and Savoury

Playing currently on my 3rd save, trying to be able to actually finish the game that I haven't for the 400 hours I have in it. Sad that northern forest got nerfed as I used to build a base there in both of my earlier saves, but I CBA with northern forest's collisions anymore (unless they fixed those finally). Went with dunes this time now that I'm aware how resource rich it is.

I need a name for my heckin wholesome lizard doggo that I found

I had to re-plan a whole bunch of my layout just because some of the nodes I counted on are now impure or gone.

Love a lot of the new stuff though. The Space Elevator...wow! Plus the new Mercer Spheres, man I'm curious to see whats next.

Don't wanna do spoilers cuz I know some folks enjoy find their own way but I'm having a blast and probably won't go to bed until my coal power plant is up and running.

you can downgrade your driver
24.4.1 onward isn't supported for my card, hence the second photo. I'll give the other options a try then report back though. Never had an issue with the game before 1.0 came out.
or add -vulkan (or maybe even -d3d11)
Still get the warning message but now I can play the game. Thank you for the advice.

There is currently a bug with coal power plants. The new inventory system is messing with it and Coffee Stain is aware and trying to fix it.

2 temporary solutions they offer;

1. Don't look in your coal power plants. Just set them up and don't check on their status and they work fine. If you open the info panel the plant will stop loading coal even if it's connected to a belt.

2. Just keep 1 coal in your inventory at all times. They're not sure why this works but if you have coal on you the power plants work normally.

Coffee Stain says this is high priority fix and they will roll out a patch ASAP

fun fun!

We have been too busy to really get into the game this week anyway, so waiting another week or two should be fine.

Ok, those nuclear hogs can fuck right off.

Not only do they have a AoE damage radius, not only do they have a massive melee attack now they can shoot radioactive spikes at you from across the room

I'm goin to be honest here.

There are a lot of bugs and visual glitches. I think the game could have used another month or two of playtesting. after 8 years of development what's another month to make sure your players get a smooth release.

Just some ongoing thoughts as I play a new save
To be fair the Dev's never even wanted to put in a blueprint maker, they were basically bullied by the fans.
Suck my cock they made the blueprint machine even bigger :story:
I personally don't use it as the building loop is the game play to me and skipping it is kinda silly.
Apparently the devs thought it was silly enough to automate out finagling for a right angle belt and the inputs and outputs of all the machines

On a less snarky note:

My portable miners are finally stackable!
The devs have opted to make ADA considerably snarky. It's only mildly annoying because I'm often listening to something while building and I consistently need to pause because it's occaisionally funny.
The quantum inventory seems like a band-aid presentation of a stumbling block of theirs. Like Factorio identified and solved the inventory issue in 2013 a year after their first release with logistics bots. In the latest dev stream you had one of the developers say they had only worked towards 1.0 since they came on (that is to say they were working for the big release update since update 3)
Looks like they've opted to also try to make power a significantly less problem by endgame so you can enjoy less power management and more belt autism.
Game is fun still, they stuck to their guns to make fluids interesting so I'm more or less satisfied.

If anyone was thinking this was the end of this game being developed though, you are mistaken.
They are supposedly going to take this farther somehow.
Though they also promised us another hostile fauna and that never materialized.

I have to agree with you. I haven't been really satisfied what 1.0 has offered, but that might be because I'm still on early game. A lot of bugs I encountered before still happen. I thought Coffee Stain Studios was supposed to scrub the map from collision and visual glitches, but I've come across too many of them. Last time I've played was update 7, but I noticed a huge drop in framerate. Did they change something in rendering or is that just because of unoptimization?

These small bugs don't really bother me, but they're definitely visible and easily found in the map. I hope they will keep dropping hotfix updates for 1.0 to slowly get rid of them.

I also setup in the rocky desert. Nice place with 3 pure iron and 1 pure copper near each other where I setup base. I did have a glitch where things were highlighted to delete even when not in that view, but it seems the last hotfix fixed it.

I do get some proton crash message everytime I close the game that didn't get it on .8. I haven't looked into it to try and fix yet. Might need to change the proton version I'm using.

So that's what that was. There have been several weird glitches to make it out into 1.0 that you would have thought they'd have caught in testing. That coal one in particular seems pretty bad.

Regardless, the fixes are fast.

As for the rocky desert, I set up closer to the three coal nodes further inland by the small bay. It is also just on the other side of that bay where I had my HUB in my previous game. So I am not too far from familiar territory; however, even the small change in HUB location has changed my game significantly. I paused once I got foundations and have been building a large raised area for my starting location. Trains will run underneath.

I had to bite the bullet and go hard drive collecting. Again.

The new iron ingot recipe that uses a foundry and limestone to give you twice as much is pretty awesome but it took me 7 hard drives to get it.

Honestly at the moment I'm just pissing around. I finished the first space elevator phase but haven't moved on from there in what is now 40 hours of play time. I really need to focus down and get to oil so I can actually start building something permanent.

Found "cast screws" on my second hard drive. This was a good day.

I am heading out to hard drive hunt right now. Got Mk. III logistics and upgraded my stuff so now I finally feel able to wander out and explore while stuff produces. But it sounds like I enjoy hard drive hunting a lot more than you.

Weird, I did too. Are the hard drives not random anymore or is the drop pool just not that big when you find your first drives early game?

I gotta appreciate the new hard drive scanning system. Being able to choose the reward later is such a good QOL feature. Before 1.0 if you accidentally hit esc meanwhile on the reward screen, you would get nothing. Glad that's fixed now too because it happened too many times to me, which would waste a few minutes going to the Satisfactory save editor and manually having to add a hard drive into your inventory.

I've had shit luck with my hard drives but that RNG for you. I'm still hunting for the recycled rubber recipe that I really need before I go balls deep into my first build.

Out I go again...I wish they'd update SMM so I can get PAK to work so I can go back to not running around the map.
