I figured I would make this thread because for the past couple of months, I was hit with some kind of unknown affliction that caused me rapid weight loss that I am still struggling with that causes me to physically not be able to eat enough portions of food.

I tried to search Kiwifarms to see if there was some kind if weight gain support thread as a parallel to the weight loss support thread but I couldn't find any.

So I figured I would make one if nobody else has already made one for people like me who are struggling to eat enough calories day to day whether it be for physical reasons or for mental reasons.

have you tried the devil's lettuce? it can settle the stomach and give you the munchies
Idk if it eould specifically help with my condition, I have no problem trying to eat. My problem is severe early satiety.

It's as if my stomach has shrunken down a lot so I physically cannot ingest enough food.

Edit, 07/12/25: My doctor has prescribed me Marinol for next week which is a type of THC. So we will see how that goes.

start replacing your water intake with cola?

Right now, I am realizing fiber is too much for my stomach. One banana makes me feel too full, so I am resorting to eating more simple carbs like crackers, white bread.

I also started eating Jell-o Tapioca pudding and Applesauce (can't eat whole apples) to intake calories.

How ironic and I have to eat these small snacks every few hours just to slow down weight loss and prevent my BMI from tanking too low.

Sugar tea?
Perhaps?, I'm on Pantoprazole right now and I am surprised I was even able to eat tapioca pudding without getting overly full and other reactions.

Maybe might want to give it a try if I get brave enough.

Some sort of sugar ginger tea? Ginger helps with upset stomachs

Good thread. I've never gained any weight since I was 15. My wrists and elbow joints are tiny. I can bench 120% of my body weight but can't gain a pound.
Right.

Unfortunately I am in a similar position as I cannot eat enough to build up muscles that seems to have been slightly shrinking.

As soon as I get my stomach issues sorted, I really will need to get into weight training once I can eat more protein.

My breakfast today consisted of Metaclopromide, a bowl of rice chex, a side of 4 crackers with sunflour butter on them and 2 medjool dates.

Edit: Gotta drop the dates, when I drank water after eating them, I got too full again. It seems that foods with fiber don't sit well with me, particularly fiber from fruits at this point.
No wonder I got malnourished to the point of needing multivitamins.

Also seem to be dealing with B12 Malabsorption to the point I needed a B12 shot from the doctor.

Finally a good fucking thread.
Ultimate TLDR is track your calories with a food scale and something free to use like Stupid Simple Macro Tracker. You're probably overestimating what you eat, so make sure you're using something to make sure you're getting enough.
For OP, try progressively eating more with easy to digest stuff like white rice or crackers.
I'm glad Sam Sulek gives the app a recommend because it's the best freemium app with some quirks that can be worked around.
Biggest mistake I made when starting out was doing something akin to One Meal A Day where I'd try to get as much in as possible per meal, but ended up feeling full the rest of the day. So each subsequent meal got smaller and smaller. Very counterproductive considering that by the end it was probably only enough to maintain and not enough to start gaining.
Some of the shit that I've tried from that point until now are:
Raw oats blended with whole milk.
Drinking shots of oil or rendered fat.
Mixing powdered milk into whole milk.
Blending cooked tilapia since teenage me saw old bodybuilders doing it.

Now that I'm giving it another go I've settled into a pretty consistent 3000 calorie diet. Only gripe I have is it feels like I'm constantly eating. But the goal is to eat just enough per meal to get the calories in but not trigger the feeling of satiety. For me that's become around 600 calories.
Breakfast: Cup of whole milk, cup of cooked oatmeal with some kind of add in. (I keep it light before working out)
Brunch: A cheese sandwich on whole wheat bread. (Whole wheat has more calories than white bread)
Lunch: Whatever family meal we have planned or prepared. (Tacos, burgers, chili, soup, grilled meat)
Dinner: A cup of cooked brown lentils, one and a half cups of cooked brown rice. (This takes a while get down but it's the "progressive overload" meal)
Supper: A packet of ramen noodles with a poached egg. (Sans the broth, I don't need all that sodium)
Snack: Whatever finger food or cereal we have with whole milk. (Chips or popcorn with TV at night)
Now it's probably lacking in stuff like greens or vegetables and some micronutrient or mineral or whatever but I try to get all the macros I need from stuff that's cheap and quick to prepare and eat.

When i got sick and dropped down to 108lbs the way I fixed it was by drinking 48oz of milk with GNC 1340 mass gainer + a rotisserie chicken each day. That was an all-day thing, I'd drink it throughout the work day then munch the rotisserie chicken, only finishing around 6-8 pm where i'd only have time to drink maybe a coca cola before sleeping.

That was massively fucking overkill because I went up to 200lbs. Down to 187 though, aiming for 160.

Same. I can drink a 12 pack of beer, eat nothing but fast food, literally like 4k calories a day and will not gain weight. Shit sucks.

I have used calorie counters before but this one seems more intricate then the other ones, will definitely use from now on.
Right now, my goal is to at least slow down my weight loss and eat at most 1,200 calories a day, even then, with my undiagnosed stomach issue it seems unrealistic for me right now.

I had have procedures and tests, and blood work done on me to rule out a couple of issues and find out the cause of my early satiety. So far I haven't found it so I am trying to slow down my weight loss before I meet with my gastroenterologist again in around two weeks.

FYI to anyone else who has stomach issues.
I recommend this meal replacement bar called Gomacro.

Found it at my local wholefoods, one bar is 280 calories, I eat with my ricechex breakfast after taking Metoclopramide. For some reason, other replacement drink products that the internet and doctors alike recommend like Ensure and even Orgain Protein Shakes which are made of pea plants were worse for my early satiety.
This is the only meal replacement product that I managed to find that doesn't cause me issues.

Biggest hint I can give with Stupid Simple is if you choose to stick with the free version, you can just remove custom entries that you searched or scanned after adding them to the daily log to work around the limit of keeping 3 saved at a time.
As for specific issues. If it's part of the blood panel or is available for request, look at leptin and ghrelin levels if they're in a normal range. Leptin is the one that signal's you're full, ghrelin signals that you're hungry. And as for something practical to at least try now, see if you can spread protein and fat intake out throughout the day to still get it in while keeping carbs high since they should make you feel less full.

Thanks for the tips, I'm gonna use this app to make sure I am intaking enough to keep myself from getting under 100 pounds for at least by the end of this month.

I have noticed that carbs are often the least filling before, so this all makes sense.
