Weight loss support thread

time to check in..

August saw a stressful month and alot of vaping, I dropped to 117lbs from 120 (41M 5’6”).

No exercise, just barely eating and vaping.
My blood pressure was high and I felt I lacked energy.

So I quit cold Turky again. It’s been a week off the vape and I now weigh 121 lbs again, probably really just 120 lbs since I’ve been constipated. I do miss vaping on the toilet at work.

My energy is back, and last night I power walked a mile on my treadmill and lifted weights for over an hour. Surprisingly I don’t have the urge to snack like I did the first quit day. It kinda even all out fairly quickly.

The mental urge to vape is there, and it’ll be there for a while. But I can now say to myself that I won’t get fat if I just quit.

Anyways keep it up everyone! It’s 9 months until May 2024, if you lose 1 lb a week that’s 36 lbs, you’ll be ready for the beach by then.

What's in these vapes? Just nicotine and flavors?
Man, I still remember the good times when "vaping" referred to vaporizing some weed oil or sticky THC extract, or some other drug, not some mass manufactured perfumed electronic "smoke".
Anyway most of these fast gains in weight are water retention. Constipation too, but only if you're severely constipated for like 3+ days.

It’s nicotine and flavors. The thing is, the label may say 5% nic, but it could be more or less. More likely it’s more.

And I’ll puff away, probably 100 puffs a day. That’s a pack of cigs. Yeah it’s no where near as harsh on your lungs, but the nic is up there.

And all that nic just slows you down, fucks up your blood pressure, and just steals minutes away from you that you could be doing something else. The loss in energy is my main motivation to quit again.

Food is poison, food was created by satan. I can survive by absorbing the flowing chi. I will never eat again. Starting today at 91 kgs.
80kg is the ideal weight for a man that is where I am going.
I hope you don't plan to starve for just 10kgs, don't do stupid shit, your stomach is highly acidic, you don't want ulcers on it trust me, and your body is not designed to run on fumes. Take it chill and eat enough.

Alright you scared me I will eat a small portion once a day.

I went from 70kgs to 54kgs eating the following way:

Breakfast:
Nut bar, coffee.

Lunch:
Low sodium soup
Some fruit/veg

Dinner
Protein (small portion if fried)
1 -2 tablespoon of rice
As much veg or fruit as I needed.

If I needed a snack, and I didn’t want fruit, then I would follow the serving size on a bag of chips or have a shot glass of ice cream.

And this is the most important part. I fasted twice a week, non consecutive days, drinking only bone broth those days. About 300-600 calories consumed. The entire day. I would still break sometimes, but I didn’t throw out my entire day of fasting and have a meal, just continue fasting.

This method, along with walking 3-5 days a week for 20-30 minutes saw me lose about 1 kilo a week at first, then gradually less and less weight, don’t get discouraged at that point just keep it up, your body has changed, but physics still says your burning more than your putting in, just at a slower rate.

Bit of a TMI dump but fuck it might as well. Back in 2019 I was 80kg - daily walks - 13,000 steps a day but then COVID happened and it became a slow progression back into slobdom. August 2022 - I was 109kg at my absolute heaviest. I had been unemployed but studying for the past 8 months and realised I needed to lose weight. None of my favourite clothes fit me, the summer was so uncomfortable, and I couldn't jog or run much at all anymore.

September 2022 I started a new job and by Christmas 2022 decided I wanted to get back to 80kg by Christmas 2023. I started doing my walks again (not everyday but 2-3 times a week), stopped drinking fizzy drinks, stopped eating chocolate and sweets, and lost 19kg by June (90kg). My Dad died in June and I just said fuck it to the diet. It's been hard to get back on track and reinstall those good habits. The past 3 months I have just maintained at 90kg with some fluctuation.

Still going to aim for 80kg by Christmas 2023 but its going to be hard. I don't go the gym but lift smaller weights at home and do longer walks for cardio. Looking forward to my long winter walks. I hope everyone in this thread hits their goal.

thank you very much this is a good guide

Been a while for me updating, but I did hit a milestone with over 100# lost. As of today, I weighed in at 206.4# from a starting weight of 308# making it a total of 101.6# lost so far since November last year. I still am on my same regimen of calorie counting and tracking what I eat, regular gym/exercise, and no processed foods or added sugars.

my weight has been between 85kg and 83kg for over 6 months,

checked this morning and its 79kg, first time i seen below 80 in probs a year.

the past month ive been jogging on grass for about 45min or more sometimes twice per day while listening to audiobooks, and pumping weights, i just weighed my self for the first time in a couple weeks and my weight is 79kg, i thought there was something wrong with the scales, but they are true.

ive been hungry and eating alot because ive been so active, but ive tried to keep it reasonalby balanced, and its all homecooked and then frozen by me cus i have an extremely limited buget atm.

i usually eat pretty healthy just normally, but ive still been drinking coffee and cola a few times a week, but ive been very active, so my want to drink both of those things has declined a bit.

i wanna get back down to 70 kg, so only 9kg left to go.

May as well sperg.
From 123kg down to 107kg over 4 or 5 months, details as follow. edit, 6ft1 added for context.

Physical job.
6-10am 3 black coffees, a 4mg nicotene lozenger (keeps the appetite away and clogs up those ace2 cellls in case colleagues have that bug).

Breakfast 10am,
1 cup porridge, 1.5tsp peanut butter, hot water. Coffee.
Off work breakfast, 4 eggs, 4 slices of toast.

Lunch 1pm,
Pack of microwave rice, 200g green veg, 1 diced chicken breast or 1 sirloin steak. Last coffee of the day.
alternative, 250g mash potato, 250g turkey mince, 150g green veg.

5pm preworkout
1 tsp coconut oil and 1 banana

6:30pm postworkout,
1 cup porridge, 1 cup whole milk, 1 scoop generic whey protein

8pm Evening meal,
Pack of microwave rice, tin of sweetcorn, 100g random frozen veg, 1 tin tuna, light mayo.
I'm using roughly 4500 cal/day according to my cheap watch and I reckon I'm coming in about 3000cal on that diet, it was originally written as a 2400cal diet but that's too strict for me so I added more veggies and protein. Drinking (4 pints beer or 1 bottle wine) and cheat food (pizza, crisps, processed junk) allowed 2 days a week because the last time I was this strict I burned out.

Including the cheat days it's a gradual drop in weight I can handle, my favourite part was a few months back. You go from resting on your belly when you lean forwards to using your stomach muscles to hold yourself up. I'm now at the start of the loose belly skin stage and the jowls have gone from my face. I'm prepared for a stall, I always get them as I approach 100kg. I have 3 different diets to avoid boredom and a 4th for higher testosterone and vasodilating foods (eg beetroot) as I get closer to an event. This one is the simplest, leave large bags of porridge at work. Fry protein after work, pour rice/veg into bowl, microwave, open tin of tuna.

Hi! Long time no see!
I didn't know the Farms was back until very recently. I tried to access it on Tor when it first went down but I am an idiot and couldn't connect.

I have not gone to a doctor but I plan to very soon! I got healthcare finally and can do check ups. I look forward to scheduling an appointment.
I have ditched sandwiches and juice completely. I now mostly eat cheese, meat (chicken and cured meat with the occasional tuna), milk, coffee, and water. I try to consume as little calories as possible while consuming the most amount of protein I can to feel full and crave less throughout the day. I also picked up a workout routine for days I am not walking to my work. I also have found a fancy for salads and soups, but I usually only get these when out (dates, friends want to eat out somewhere, et cetera).

I would love to post weekly progress in here now to hold myself accountable. Yesterday was a push/pull day since I do not have machines to do the full routine a friend sent me, so I combined two days. If you would like details about the recipes and routines I do, let me know! I would hatte to clog up the thread with my nonsense.

As for current progress, I think I look somewhat slimmer and I certainly feel better and more energized than I used to but, with no scale, it is hard to tell.

Buddy, you gotta get a scale. What did you last weigh in at?

That said, it’s good you are taking control and making moves to lose weight without one, keep it up!

I know - I plan on getting one when I have the money to do so. It is harder to keep track without one.
I am 5'0" (153 cm) and the last I weighed in last at about 145 lbs (65.7 kg).

If you're like me and you enjoy snacking and sweets, then I beg you try out frozen blueberries. Very tasty, a lot of water, great antioxidant, and the fact they are frozen makes the antioxidants more available to your body I believe.

Stay blessed

My girlfriend broke up with me 3 weeks ago and we used to work out 3 times a week. Since then I've only gone once or twice a week and I can tell that the work outs aren't as good because we used to motivate each other or push each other a little harder. I've lost about 25 pounds since June and need to lose 25 pounds more. I don't want to go back to how I was. Any advice on how to regain the motivation?

Honestly, the best motivation for me is looking at my body after some time and really admiring myself (I am a bit of a narcissist). I am not built or toned but losing 25 pounds should make a world of difference. You will have face gains, body gains, and mental gains. My best advice would be to stick it out and admire yourself a month or two down the line. It may be worth cataloguing your process to drill the positives into your brain.

You're aiming for 25 pounds, which is about 11.3kg. I am trying to lose 10kg and I can tell you once I lose that 10kg I am sure I will look great, so I am sure that when you lose 25 pounds you will look even better than me.

Still going to aim for 80kg by Christmas 2023 but its going to be hard. I don't go the gym but lift smaller weights at home and do longer walks for cardio. Looking forward to my long winter walks. I hope everyone in this thread hits their goal.
Gonna blogpost again - didn't realise it had been a month to the day since my last post. I just weighed myself at 87kg flat (I have just eaten a meal too). So 3kg in a month isn't bad at all, if I continue at this rate I should be 81kg on the 9th of December, so I am sure that 80kg by Christmas is achievable now (just have to be on my best behaviour through the holiday season).

just have to be on my best behaviour through the holiday season
I have found that I had to shift mentally to accepting that I could not eat everything I wanted. My body can almost intuitively eat, so if I have a Christmas lunch, I won't eat dinner, etc.. or I would simply need to say "no", which is easier the more you do it. It is not actually that different to not succumbing to cravings when going to a nice restaurant
Last year I never overate during the holidays and that meant that I was never feeling bloated and uncomfortable. While my family was skipping dinner, I could eat again and get a start on the leftovers. Especially for family meals, it pays off to think what you want to eat on the day, and what can wait for leftovers (it's with family, just put it aside and tell them you will eat that tomorrow)

Edit: 3kg/month sounds that level of achievable and sustainable. Rooting for you :D
