I started 5mg of Mounjaro in 2024, which stopped the rapid gain from Actos, and helped my blood glucose. December 2025 I noticed my gcm said my average sugar was getting pretty high again, so I had my doctor up my Mounjaro to 15mg. (I asked for 7.5, but she gave me 15)

Holy shit. I feel like I’m finally eating like “normal” people do. My food noise is gone. My craving for sugar is also gone 99% of the time. I’m noticing that the dopamine hit from a lot of my favorite foods is gone. I want fruits and vegetables more often now. I’ve rediscovered how much I like beans, I’m going to make hummus tomorrow.

Unfortunately, I’ve learned the hard way that even mild spicy food doesn’t agree with me. I get the worst nausea and if I walk a lot right after a meal I throw up. Embarrassing if I’m in public. So much for Mexican, which makes me sad because I love Mexican.

I still have to watch myself around potato chips though. But I started a bag of pretzels on the 5th and I still haven’t finished them.

I’ve also lost 20 pounds, my a1c a month ago was 6.8! My fasting is down to around 100-120! My average the last three weeks has been 138! My cholesterol is in the normal range. None of that has been true since I was diagnosed as diabetic over a decade ago.

I’m over the moon. This drug is a miracle as far as I’m concerned.

I am having some liver issues, the ultrasound I had last week says the damage is mild and I should be able to heal it. I’m going to start milk thistle and choline, since I don’t eat a lot of the foods that have choline. I’m also going to decrease my actos a bit because for some people that can affect the liver - plus it increases the risk of cancer and fractures, see in three months how the numbers look. I’m very hopeful for the first time in a long long time.

I heard a trick for making cardio less boring and it really works. I played on my Steam Deck while riding my bike and 20 minutes felt like five. Highly recommend it. Safety first though friends, I would not advise this on a treadmill unless you’ve got really great stability.

Your toes if you don't lose weight
Yah, avoiding diabetes is a major motivator for me losing weight. My mother, who ate herself into diabetes after yo-yo dieting her whole life, died of sepsis on dialysis; her diabetic brother just gave up and ate himself into obese death. I honestly would rather have cancer than diabetes (went through having a bladder tumor removed) because cancer can often be cured. Even the best-managed diabetes is a 24/7/365 millstone around your neck.

Kiwi frens I am so happy to announce that after losing 60 lbs on tirzepatide in the past 13 months, I am NOT diabetic or even prediabetic. My A1C yesterday was 5.1, so very very into the normal range. Every day I reacquaint myself with a thin body. It's been 10 years or more that I weighed this little. My plan is to keep taking tirzepatide, monitor my weight loosely and exercise much more.

The only real loss is hair. I'm bummed about the hair loss, but because I already have so much, it's not really very apparent. My doctor referred me to a gastroenterologist about it - I don't know what he might do besides tell me to eat more protein? And I am doing that. From the outside I am using rosemary oil and a brush to waken my follicles.

I plan to finally renew my passport. It expired last summer but I didn't want ten years of fat face looking at me. I want to get a new driver's license pic taken too. I'm not sure if my state allows for a new picture in between regular renewals.

Hearty congratulations and celebrations to you fren! Goals, for serious.

My doctor said the hair should grow back. Reels I’ve seen on Facebook seem to suggest the same thing, allegedly hair loss like this happens because of a sudden shock interrupting the long, slow growth phase, and triggering an exaggerated loss phase. As the system overcomes that shock, growth phase will start again and hair will return to previous levels of thickness.

I’ve got the same thing going on, but I have noticed that I seem to be shedding less than just a couple months ago, just based on what I see in my hairbrush. So maybe there’s hope yet?

I made the best rice I’ve ever had this afternoon. I don’t really use measurements, just letting the Holy Spirit move me. But I shredded three carrots and three celery stalks, added a cup and a half of rice, chicken bullion paste, turmeric, garlic, a bay leaf, and a tiny bit of salt (as well as water). I cook my rice in the microwave, because it’s how my mom did it and I burned it the only time I did it on the stove. But it doesn’t really matter, just cook it like you always do. This made an entirely full 2-quart casserole dish.

It adds veggies and fiber, and is flavorful enough to not need soy sauce or added fat, it decreases the amount of rice which lowers carbs as well. Pair it with beans and you have a complete protein. It’s dirt cheap and freezes well.

Highly recommend. Even if you don’t like celery or carrots (I’m not a big fan).

I would recommend a rice cooker. I got this one for about 20 bucks, all it has is a switch you flip for cooking, and it will stay warm once it's done. It's been a lifesaver for me when I don't feel like cooking.

Those are awesome! I have very little counter space or storage so when mine broke, I didn’t replace it. I tend to find things that have a wide range of uses better than specialized tools for the kitchen. They’re definitely easy to use though.

Aroma also has rice cookers that double as steamers and have a brown rice button. I think it was like 35 bucks when I got mine (but the price probably went up due to inflation).

I started to running again and doing crunches after some time I'm trying to trim belly fat any tips
You can’t outrun a bad diet, and you can’t spot reduce. But you should still run and do core exercises, which isn’t limited to just crunches. They are both tools that help create the calorie deficit you gotta have to lose fat.

Body weight exercises, like crunches are, can build some serious muscle over time. The more muscle you have the more calories you burn by just existing and the more you’ll see your body composition all over change, even without changing your diet.

Spot?

I'm aware it's a 70 /30 ,70% of it diet 30% is working out and keeping healthy but I'm looking to incorporate more core workout besides road work (jogging jumping jacks push-ups every so long) and crunchies forever since I was at the gym

Does anyone else have the kind of scale that supposedly can caluculate your body fat/muscle percentages? It can’t be accurate, right? How does a scale make a reading of my body composition from the soles of my feet?

okay, so they work by using how fast electricity travels from one foot to the other to calculate things like how much fat and how much muscle you have, because different types of tissue will conduct electricity at different speeds.

In practice the at home versions typically mostly just measure how hydrated you are and are not very accurate. Edit: even though they aren’t super accurate they are still useful to track trends over time, just don’t take their numbers as gospel.

Supposedly the more professional ones gyms sometimes have are more accurate because they also use your hands to take measurements. I don’t know if they are actually more accurate or not. I don’t have access to a gym so I don’t have experience with these machines there.

My fellow kiwis, I am fucking fat. Does anybody have recommendations for healthy, low-calorie food that tastes good? I actually didn't get this way from goyslop, I love cooking but that doesn't do much to keep the pounds off if you're eating an entire pan of fettuccine alfredo in one sitting like I kept doing like once a week at least. Anything garlic is preferred.

Took 4th injection of 2.5mg dose tirzepatide. I've lost 4.4 lbs in 3 weeks, that's about 1.5 lb/week, which is satisfactory. I haven't had any side effects worth complaining about...tired but not awful. My innards have adjusted themselves. Nothing visible about weight loss yet, except my face looks a little slimmer. Onward and upward!

You might just have an issue with portion control. Tracking how much you eat might be beneficial to you.

Anybody got any experience with how long mildly loose skin may take to tighten up? It’s not enough to need to go under the knife, but I’m not a big fan of it. My skin needs to get the memo that the second chin is gone
It takes a little time but fasting is the quickest way to do it.
