I started 5mg of Mounjaro in 2024, which stopped the rapid gain from Actos, and helped my blood glucose. December 2025 I noticed my gcm said my average sugar was getting pretty high again, so I had my doctor up my Mounjaro to 15mg. (I asked for 7.5, but she gave me 15)
Holy shit. I feel like I’m finally eating like “normal” people do. My food noise is gone. My craving for sugar is also gone 99% of the time. I’m noticing that the dopamine hit from a lot of my favorite foods is gone. I want fruits and vegetables more often now. I’ve rediscovered how much I like beans, I’m going to make hummus tomorrow.
Unfortunately, I’ve learned the hard way that even mild spicy food doesn’t agree with me. I get the worst nausea and if I walk a lot right after a meal I throw up. Embarrassing if I’m in public. So much for Mexican, which makes me sad because I love Mexican.
I still have to watch myself around potato chips though. But I started a bag of pretzels on the 5th and I still haven’t finished them.
I’ve also lost 20 pounds, my a1c a month ago was 6.8! My fasting is down to around 100-120! My average the last three weeks has been 138! My cholesterol is in the normal range. None of that has been true since I was diagnosed as diabetic over a decade ago.
I’m over the moon. This drug is a miracle as far as I’m concerned.
I am having some liver issues, the ultrasound I had last week says the damage is mild and I should be able to heal it. I’m going to start milk thistle and choline, since I don’t eat a lot of the foods that have choline. I’m also going to decrease my actos a bit because for some people that can affect the liver - plus it increases the risk of cancer and fractures, see in three months how the numbers look. I’m very hopeful for the first time in a long long time.
I heard a trick for making cardio less boring and it really works. I played on my Steam Deck while riding my bike and 20 minutes felt like five. Highly recommend it. Safety first though friends, I would not advise this on a treadmill unless you’ve got really great stability.
