Weight loss support thread

Kiwis, I'm fat.

I have a solid idea of what to do (if it's wrong, then I'll learn from my own mistakes).

Give me your advice on stopping snacking/supplementing snacking. My usual idea is sandwiches (just basic bread and kielbasa stuff). I suspect that my carb intake already adds to my sedentary life. How should I wean off it and what were your method to stop yourself from snacking?
The only thing that works for me is strict discipline and distraction. I'm a comfort and boredom eater, which is a nasty combo. If I feel uncomfortable or just not busy enough, I'll go see what's in the kitchen. I just have to add more tasks to my day and tell myself to get the fuck over it and struggle through the urges. The first week or so sucks, but once I've been consistent for a while, it's easy to wait until my next meal. Drink a butt ton of water.

So you willpower it through the urges, right?

I tend to like chewing on shit out of boredom so I always keep pickles and baby carrots around. Super low calorie so I don't even really bother counting the calories. If you're trying to satisfy a particular craving instead of eating out of boredom like I do then that's pure willpower.

Edit:
Don't give yourself the option to begin with if there's something you know you have self-control issues with. I'll down a full bag of chips if I have it on hand so I don't keep it in the house.

Thanks, Kiwis.

Another thing. I know how to cook but it takes a lot of time for me and it bores me to death. Would a multicooker be beneficial for me to eat better?

A lot of people will make bulk meals and either portion them out for meals over the week or freeze the leftovers to reheat later. Leaves fewer decisions to be made, and you only have to cook like twice a week or so.

There are so many types of cooking YouTubers out there, you could probably find someone who does quick simple meals type content.

there is plenty of stuff that makes very little work. a good stew takes hours of cooking, but you only have to check on it every 30 minutes.

I have lost 2kg last week and the plan is to lose another 5kg in 2 weeks.
My problem is that i cant run 2 times a day, my legs just hurt like hell and its just to hot right now.
I could switch to swimming in a near by lake, but i dont know how much swimming equals 10km of running. has anybody an idea?(im a good swimmer and the lake is shallow and has a life guard so im pretty safe).

The run to swim ratio is about 4:1. So if you're running 10k, you're going to want to swim about 2.5k (or 2500 meters since it's swimming lol) for equivalency. Swimming takes more effort and more movement too, so energy expenditure wise you're gonna get more out of active swimming. Of course you're going to have to be putting in constant effort for that 2.5k for it to be an accurate exchange.

Consider getting a barbecue pit. Smoked chicken tastes amazing when you marinate it properly.

A good weight loss diet is a protein drink+bar in the morning, and two servings of a chicken breast with those frozen mixed vegetables you can get in stores for lunch and dinner respectively. Put the chicken in the bowl and fill the rest of the bowl with vegetables, add on whatever spices and/or condiments you want as long as they don't have extra calories. Drink a capful of apple cider vinegar if you're feeling exceptionally hungry in between meals, and supplement with plenty of water. Depending on how much you weigh starting out, that will go from a weight loss diet to a baseline maintenance diet once you're around =<25 BMI.

Start drinking this on a nightly basis if your weight loss starts to plateau. It takes some getting used to, but I can personally confirm that I was losing something like a pound a week when I supplemented it with low calorie diet and cardio, and I was only somewhat overweight at the time. It should take you all the way to BMI ~24.

The most important point I would stress is not to think of it as "going on a diet". A diet is a single component of a much larger picture. What you want to do is fundamentally change your lifestyle, switching between different diets when appropriate. It will take time and effort, but be persistent and consistent and you should be able to get it together eventually. Balance it all out by giving yourself one dietary indulgence each week.

I am now at 146 with a BMI of 28. I lost about 10 BMI points from my highest weight of 198. The weight is really starting to shed since I have been dieting since January. I have been a very bad girl and not working out much.

I have been having only small cheats such as a 400 calorie pizza once a week instead of larger cheat meals, and it really helps.

I am still only consuming between 800-1000 calories a day, but I am a petite woman with PCOS along with a slow metabolism. My BMR is like only 1200 calories a day and dropping.

With my progress, a lot of my clothes are too loose. My favorite apple watch bands do not fit me. Thankfully, my summer scrub tops still fit me. My winter scrub tops are too large now. My favorite rain boots as a fat fuck were too snug, now they fit me perfectly. When you lose weight, you lose weight everywhere.

I already bought basic scuba gear like fins, mask, booties, and snorkel for my certification in December, but I am holding off on buying wetsuits and a BCD until a month beforehand. I want to buy my own complete set of scuba gear. I found the perfect package for diving in both warm and cold water and a great price to boot. I just do not want to live with the fact that I bought a BCD too large and ill-fitting.

Good work. Wanted to say to be sure to watch your carbs with PCOS. It's linked with insulin resistance, so the cheat pizza is okay sometimes, but focusing on lower GI foods even for cheats and snacking makes a huge difference. It's very easy to hit a wall right as you near the healthy BMI range if you're eating too many carbs unknowingly and it makes it harder to lose tummy fat even if you're doing everything you're supposed to like watching your daily calories or working out regularly.
