Weight loss support thread

You know what I fuckin love, that's a good candy substitute.
Mother Fucking Dried Cranberries! (In NE they're basically a weed)

Sometimes you can get them covered in dark chocolate, it's got antioxidants and shit...

I've taken to doing squats while holding 10 lb weights in each hand. I nerd it up a little, doing this to some of my favorite Kamen Rider themes, mostly A bountiful Life from Ryuki or Believe Yourself from Agito.

I just realized there's 16 fl oz in these bottles of water that I get. That's two cups per bottle. It's generally agreed that the human body needs around 8 cups of water per day (although this number could possibly be higher considering the fact that the human body is mostly water and as a result needs a lot of it). That means that every day, I only have to drink about four of these bottles of water, and I'll get my daily intake. On average (before mid-2012 and after about a week ago when I picked this up again), I drink about 6-8 bottles of these things. I drink 12-16 cups of water a day, and that's not including any water I get when I go out (and I can honestly stand at those water fountains and drink for ten minutes).

No wonder I pee water... It would also explain why when I stopped brushing my teeth for a while in 2010, the doctor still thought I had the best set of teeth he'd ever seen despite the fact that there was a gaping cavity in my mouth...

Which brings me back to the questions I had when I was about 13. 1.) is this too much water? Am I gonna get fat? 2.) am I gonna die if I keep drinking so much water? Like, am I just gonna blow up one day?

As long as you're regularly relieving yourself of it and getting your daily intake of sodium, you will be perfectly fine. It is possible to die from water intoxication, though in most cases it's when people drink like, a gallon in a relatively short period of time and hold it in. *yawn*

Water is great!

Water is still great!

Brother, while water is good for you, those are untrue claims.

http://www.snopes.com/medical/myths/hea ... dwater.asp

I had never heard of that claim, actually.

I'm glad you posted that thing about excessive sitting, though. ;) For anyone interested a much better form of sitting, just google active sitting. Looks like they're coming out with even more "chairs" for it.

Random do any of you girls wear spanks or any kind of shapewear?
Yeah if I remember I wear my Squeem. It really gave me an hourglass shape after a while.

So I tried jogging today. I don't know if I'm horribly out of shape or if it's my flat feet, but my feet were hurting badly after just jogging down the street. :( I was wearing New Balence running shoes and everything! Perhaps I should try "zero-gravity" exercises like cycling or swimming, or yoga or pilates as mentioned earlier in this thread? I really want to lose my fat!

You really can't jog on flat feet without potentially injuring yourself. Look up a podiatrist or talk to your primary care doctor about corrective inserts. In the meantime, yeah, go for the really low impact stuff.

The 8-10 cups of water is an average figure, and disputed anyway. If you're bigger than average (height and/or girth), you'll need more. And that's average when the figure was published, so most people these days are bigger than that.

Likewise, it makes a difference if you're talking water requirements vs. optimal water intake vs. high but acceptable. You NEED a lot less than that thanks to the water in your food (including water released from chemical breakdown of food) but it might not be optimal. You can drink a lot more than optimal and be fine, and even more than that and be okay.

Finally, everybody's water intakes will differ due to differing diet, metabolism, activity, environment, pathology, etc. Eat high protein, high sodium? Probably will need to drink more due to the greater clearance by your kidneys. Have diabetes insipidus (inability to concentrate urine, unrelated to diabetes mellitus or "the beetus")? You'll also have to drink more as your body won't store it. Less active? You probably aren't sweating so much so you'll need less. Even in the same person with the same habits the weather makes a difference. You'll probably find yourself a touch thirstier in winter because the dryer air lets your moisture evaporate more.

The real key to water is to obey your thirst. If you're getting adequate sodium (and if you aren't getting frequent cramps, headache, nausea, fatigue, etc., you are), drink when you're thirsty and don't when you aren't. Urine can be a decent guideline as well. Most will suggest it should be no darker than pale yellow if you're drinking enough fluid but contrary to what some say it isn't necessary to keep it almost entirely colorless (though you can exhibit that without causing problems).

The body is amazing at maintaining its equilibrium, and barring disorders and diseases if you aren't doing something stupid like drinking a gallon and holding it in, or letting yourself get uncomfortably thirsty regularly, odds are you'll be okay water-wise.

So I did a little research and learned that my high-maintenance flat feet need special foot support when running/jogging. I then bought shoes specially meant for running, since the New Balances I was wearing were only meant for walking. PROPER RUNNING SHOES ARE EXPENSIVE! But the fact that my feet don't hurt like hell when I try to jog, and the subsequent health and fitness from jogging regularly, is priceless! ;)

I like all this water I've been drinking now that the tap's available. For the first time, my lips aren't totally chapped. Although that's probably because it's Autumn and not twenty thousand degrees Celsius outside.

You should try other forms of exercise. Like cycling or swimming

I got weight at my therapist office today and since the beginning of October I have lost 3 pounds. This brings my total weight loss to 16 pounds . Now I have 87 more pounds to go till I reach my goal.

Today may have just been the unhealthiest day of the week for me. Literally no water at all, coffee with cream, tortas, apple soda, and pink lemonade so far. Might not eat dinner because my dad managed to score some sort of thing that involves us eating pizza rolls. I got coffee flavored ice cream out of it, though. When I'm done with my pink lemonade, I'm gonna make up for lost water and start planning out next week's meals.
