Weight loss support thread

Dropped 30 pounds on Ozempic pretty easily, but have put ~5 back on and kinda hovering for a long while. Clearly need to make a change (my diet is still shit, and I don't exercise) but at 8 degrees F out (that's -13.3 in cuck units) and 25mph winds I'm not feeling it as far as going outside goes.
I just started on Ozempic last week. I lost 40lbs the last 3 months, but my doctor wants me to try Ozempic to increase my weight loss. I've totally cut out sugars, fried foods, and other processed shit including soda, and started eating a salad every night for dinner. My salad only has lettuce tomato, and grilled chicken with a skinny girl salad dressing (but fucking thing out there by the way). Since then, I feel I have way more energy and my breathing and cardio has improved tremendously. I've heard the horror stories about Ozempic but at this point I'm willing to try it. I pretty much excise every day the days I don't work. I know a lot of people on this thread might not support it but it's not like I'm going my old ways if anything I feel I never want to eat like shit again and maybe have a cheat day once in a while once I lose enough weight. Good luck to you man but try to do some push-ups and squats. You got this dude.

Why get on ozempic if youre already doing what ozempic would do? Assuming you arent eating 3 ribeyes a day or something.
I was diagnosed as pre diabetic due to me being a fatass. And I have an addictive personality towards food so yeah I really shit the bed there. Unlock most people I was willing to change my ways. Now I have a roommate on the other hand who is diabetic but eats like shit every day. Even at my worst I could never imagine eating three rib eyes at all.

I've been on a weight loss track since around December, and have been attempting to lose weight and return to a healthy BMI. For context, I'm 6'1 and have been all over the place in terms of weight, but around December I was the highest I've ever been, 206 pounds. I've made it a goal to get down to 180 by my birthday, and have very recently have gone down 10 pounds to 196 pounds. My main method of weight loss has been cutting off certain foods and trying my hand at weight lifting, coupled with intermittent fasting. I think my main issue for sustaining this is actual calorie counting, as I fail to maintain a solid daily calorie count. I'm hoping to rectify this soon, and I wish all of you luck in becoming healthier.

Salads may run thin fairly quickly, you should consider things like roasted vegetables, fish, nuts, etc. as well to provide some variety. There are also a lot of beneficial substances in your broccolis (both the mature vegetable and the sprouts), kales, brussels, carrots, fish, walnuts, and so on.

I really think being at a healthy weight isn't just about depriving the body of calories, it's also about using those calories to put healthy substances into it that make it work more efficiently. That means a spread of antioxidants and healthy fats.

That said I've found even just microwaving a salad until it becomes cooked is enough to keep my interest in a lot of cases. If you get used to eating real food you'll eventually realize it's everyone eating processed slop who are the ones missing out.

Every time one of these new drugs comes into fashion you get a bunch of people who are convinced it's a magic bullet with no downsides and prescribe it at the drop of a hat; this has happened throughout history with a bunch of stuff that's nowadays known to be pretty dangerous, but for some reason no lesson has been learned.

Personally I really don't trust this whole Ozempic thing, and I wouldn't be surprised if years down the line we see unexpected long term consequences. Even if that wasn't the case though, it seems silly to take it unless someone really can't get themselves under control in any other way.

I know it’s no magic bullet. Ultimately it’s up to the person wanting to change their ways which is what I’m doing. I’ll consider roasted veggies for dinner also. I don’t blame you at for not trusting it as I was in the same boat. However, he assured me he’s had some patients who were able to keep the weight off with lowering their dosages. but thank you for the advice I do appreciate it.

So one unexpected benefit of weight loss is the stupid ganglion cyst Ive had on my wist for a little over a year has started to go away. Before it was the size of a small grape and noticeable if you knew where to look on my wrist. Now its maybe the size of a pea and you cant see it all.
Lowered inflammation is one the best perks for losing weight imo.

Random pains disappear, your feet stop hurting after 15 minutes of walking, you don't get sick as often and whatnot.

I need to start losing weight again... Currently sitting at about 114kg (~250lbs) and need to come down to 100kg (220lbs) before I'm really happy. Better than when I was at 131kg (290lbs) a couple of years ago.

My family remarked that I've lost a lot of weight (started at 205, down to 165). Haven't been as stringent with my deficit (1400 cal l instead of 800) especially because of midterms. Hoping I can get down to 150 or 145 in the next few months, then bulk up with lean muscle.

Aldi has 12/oz bags of frozen steamable riced cauliflower for $1.60USD. My other local grocery store wants $2.50 for a 12/oz bag.

I highly recommend the garlic and herb. I added a little butter to add fat so I'd stay full longer since that was basically my entire meal as well as adding extra flavor and some salt.

It was fucking amazing. No cauliflower flavor, perfectly moist and tender, the garlic wasn't overpoweringly strong, and it was just so good. I will be stocking up next time I go shopping. It would be really good with bacon bits and sour cream too for a faux baked potato.

They also have plain, which would be great for adding your own spices to or in soups.

I cannot recommend it enough.

Aldi is my go to place now. Way better prices and better food there too.

(This is just observations, I'm not seeking advice.)

I intend to lose about 2 pounds a week until I reach my goal. On January 1st I weighed myself, and then I cut out all caffeine - including milk+coffee which was my go to beverage like five times a day. I lost weight, but I wanted to lose a lot more. In February, I decided I would just start doing CICO alternate day fasting (1600/500) with pen and paper counting again. I had previously lost weight doing CICO+AltDay+Keto when I was 20~21, and lost 70 pounds, so I know this works.

Instead of keto this time, I'm just eating more protein. I did some research and saw that people were generally recommending at least 100g of protein and as much as 190g a day. That seems a like a lot, and I don't think I was ever eating that. I don't think it is even possible to eat 190g of protein a day on accident. It is 1.5 pounds of chicken breast. Indeed, since deliberately trying to get as much protein as possible in a day, I don't think I've eaten 190g in one day yet.

I am still eating carbs and am not restricting any food. I am just counting now.

Despite this, I feel good. I feel very high energy, I am waking up and I feel really wired. I am not perpetually hungry anymore for maybe the first time ever. I realized yesterday that I had a small box of sweets sitting directly in front of me and I had managed to eat one serving of them per day until they were gone like a normal person.

I lost 7 pounds after one week of counting. Not a full week later I've lost another 5. The only thing I am doing differently is counting calories and endeavoring to eat more protein.

Now, I am pretty sure the reason why I see a lot of people swear by keto and the carnivore diet is simply that they're inadvertently eating a lot more protein. They're doing these diets to enter ketosis, but they're just eating a high amount of protein to do so, which is why they feel better.

Protein from animal sources is very important and satiating (it's also the most bio-available)
But a decent amount animal fat is probably the reason why keto/carnivore works so well.

What tastes better ... a grilled Ribeye or chicken breast ? (which has virtually no flavour)

steak is about 30% more calorie dense while containing about 15% less protein. so if I had free reign choose whatever I want, I'd get a hollandaise sauce pizza with ground beef. but if you're trying to get more protein and fewer calories, you get boiled lean chicken breast instead.

a really difficult mental block in weight loss will always be understanding that food is a fuel source and not recreation.

This is a very common response in the carnivore community, when people ask aren't you sick of eating meat.
But less "fuel" and more "complete nutrition". As "all" the essential amino acids are contained in animal protein and fat.
Something you need to formulate carefully when on a plant based diet (this is why vegans are often malnourished, requiring supplementation and vegetarians will often eat dairy/eggs and sometimes seafood etc)

I personally find steak more satisfying though. I think this is because it has more vitamins.

I’ve recently been falling down a rabbit hole about how our fruits/vegetables/grains are wayyy less nutritious (in terms of vitamins and minerals) than they used to be. The theory is that this lack of nutrients is why we are getting fatter: in order to get the same nutrients, we simply need to eat more food than we did in the past.

The nutrient depletion has been well documented since the 1980s. Here’s an article from 2006

Unfortunately, multivitamin tablets are kind of a scam. The vitamins compete with each other and some, like b12, need to be in your mouth for a while to get absorbed. I’ve been trying to eat more organ meats, grow some of my own veggies, and take some vitamins like magnesium.

Unsure what else to do :(

We men need our protein to thrive. Amazing how we can neglect such a thing until we're fat or extremely unhealthy.
