Weight loss support thread

What is that app? It's nice. I just log everything on Fatsecret, which isn't the prettiest option, but it's not bad either. I've lost 28 of my 70 lbs since mid-July, but I doubt like hell I'll go consistently at that rate for the last 45ish I'm aiming for. It's not even a good idea to try for that, I'm fairly sure. But that's okay; the psychological battle has already been won whenever I consider the difference between the 280 I was pushing last year at this time and the current 210. 45 to go instead of 115 is legitimately staggering to me to think of.

It’s called the lose it app on iOS, counts calories, weight and exercise time.

Yikes, is giving up a lifelong 2-liter bottle of soda habit that huge a deal? I've lost 6.5 lbs in the first 11 days of October. I guess it might be, though there are also 3 days of intermittent fasting in those 11 days, and those together are probably big enough changes to cause an initial dramatic drop. Pretty startling, though.

The 2 liter is around 1,000 calories so yes a pretty big deal. For me I lost 35 lbs in 3-4 months when I stopped my daily 2 liter habit or half gallon of iced tea.

Well, it was diet soda. Sigh. I was one of those gorls who'd pour bacon ranch dressing over a coupla cheeseburgers but make it a diet Pepsi. Damn you Kiwis, for mirroring my stupid habits at me in such unflattering ways. No, actually, thank you. But even if I wasn't consuming sugary soda, I could do without the water retention, excess caffeine and damage to my teeth and kidneys. And artificial sweeteners probably making me hungrier and more likely to eat shitty food.

I'm about 1.5 percent over the maximum BMI for knee replacement surgery. Extremely frustrating because most heart raising aerobic activities are put of reach. I try to count calories and I have been doing Intermittent Fasting with good results, but when I was told I needed to lose weight, I panicked and backslid, gaining 5 pounds back. Thankfully I have more of a salty than sweet tooth, but snacking and the comfort food needed mindset are killers.

Good luck to all! I raise a glass of non-caloric, delicious and filling water to all!

Just a few more kg and I won’t be moderately obese!

Congrats.
If you ever feel like eating junk food again, watch some of Chantal's last videos, she's been on a roll lately.

Currently plateauing at 203 elbees, have drastically lowered my sodium intake, let's s if that helps.

I'm REALLY starting to hate family gatherings. Every other month or so there's always some kind of get-together and it spells disaster for a weekend with the house getting flooded with junk food of every kind. Normally I'm pretty good at avoiding that kind of stuff but when you're surrounded by it and everyone else is eating it and the ol' "It's a special occasion!" excuse pops up, I crack. And then it takes the solid following week to get my body back on track.

I fucking hate it when my fucking family forces me to eat man. Filipinos have no fucking control when it comes down to eating. When I told them I can’t eat much, they laughed and yelled at me for actually doing my part to lose weight and told me that I’m not eating enough. Filipino families are a bitch to deal with.

I'm trying to stop snacking entirely.

This has been by problem ever since, both before and after I started my weight loss.

The only difference is that after I started my weight loss, I'd munch on either some gronola bars, get a pack of biscuits which I'd leave on the kitchen table and take one after every meal since the whole pack is worth 450+ cals and I doubt I would've been able to control myself by having them in my room or some low cal snacks made from potatoes (about 200 cals per bag which isn't bad).

I fucked up two days ago and got three of those gronola bars I usually get and told myself I'd have one a day, ended up eating them all instead (they were only 86 cals each, but that's still extra calories that could've easily been a meal instead).

Back before I started my weight loss I'd probably have some stupid crap like a bag of puffs or chips that are easily over 500 calories nearly everyday (which is crazy, that's more than what most of my meals are now and they fill me up much more than those chips).

This is what pretty much made me start to stop snacking entirely (or partially, at least). I'm better off having any fruit of sorts instead.

I also checked out of curiosity how many calories are in a cider that I used to get, didn't think there'd be that many, but it was about 350 in total *sigh*.

Granola bars are my downfall, too. If I have a box of them, I'm going to eat the entire box at one sitting. I'd probably eat them til I get sick, so they're the one food that is simply never coming into the house again. Snacking habits are definitely some of the hardest to change, so good on you for the effort. I keep a lot of carrots and apples around for those occasions...between that and the daily bowl of oatmeal, I'm apparently on a horse diet. Well, it's working, at least.

Granola bars are pretty much just candy, just check the ingredients.
If you want stuff to snack on, try sunflower seeds (the ones with the shells, thy slow you down), pure protein and good fat.

Eat your family and see how they like it then
