Weightlifting for Kiwis - Discussion and support regarding the art of swole

how do i increase grip strength when doing deadlifts and without using straps?
Chalk, it's really that simple. My grip fails way before my strength unless I chalk up with deads.

Also agree with the guy who said dead hangs (which are just good for you anyway), but chalk gives the most bang for your buck. I don't know what you lift, but you could easily add 30+ kilos just by using it.

Missed my deadlifts yesterday because someone called in a bomb threat for april fools and they set off the alarms and evacuated us. At 8AM. What the fuck?

Agreeing with everyone regarding chalk, grinding pullups is my suggestion otherwise but then again that's always my suggestion for everything.

Wow, did I never think I would find something worse than quarter squats but I think this is close. Some dude was on the dips and was just bouncing up and down. His arms never bent. His head went down and his shoulders moved back a little before returning to their position
Sounds like a physical therapy exercise but I can't imagine doing it upright instead of elbows at 90 degrees on a captain's chair.

how do i increase grip strength when doing deadlifts and without using straps? right now the bar keeps slipping out of my hands after a few reps even though i know i can lift it further. i have one of those handheld spring grip trainers but it doesn't seem like it's doing much, even with daily use.
Direct forearm training is great, if you want something more specific it should be something related to isometrics such as farmer walks or dead hangs but everything works, what I have to add that's different from what's been said is that you could get stronger forearms by training more traps, by doing more pulls ups, barbell rows, standing calf raises with a dumbbell in hand or hanging leg/knee raises.

I barely do any direct forearm work at all and my forearms keep getting stronger, why? Because I spam exercises that use my forearms isometrically, rather than thinking about adding more forearm isolation get more fractional forearm sets by doing other exercises.

I lifted in the morning today and it fucking sucked. I didn't feel nearly as strong as I do when I lift in the afternoon or evening.

I tried it because I'm going to have to switch up my routine soon and I figured working out in the morning could be a good move. Not for me, and I'd have to wake up at like 5:30 AM too so screw that. Running in the morning is fine, but lifting is better after you've woken up a bit.

I go back and forth. Right now I think: lifting at night is better when bulking because you don't have to leave anything in the tank for later; lifting in the morning is better when cutting because you get it out of the way and are less likely to skip it when you're hungry and tired at night.

A bout of insomnia temporarily made me a morning person and I felt a lot better in general but I don't think that had much to do with lifting.

If I didn't have to plan around the gym being busy it wouldn't even be an issue.

@Dean Pentel mate ever since you awared me on the notion of Active Recovery I swear I notice the benefits more and more.
I'm on my 50th day of the daily cardio grind and I was feeling pretty tired. I went to sleep late last night like a retard. But I did my daily sesh just now and took it really easy; now that I'm done with it I feel so energized and refreshed, it's hard to believe.

Your day cannot get any worse if you start with the gym. I get up at 4:40AM during the week to go to the gym. Whatever happens at work after that can't be worse than squatting 2pl8 or deadlifting 3pl8.

Those weights are intermediate at best, fren. Once you've been going to the gym for a long time you enjoy it. Personally my lifting days are the highlights of my week.

You can go even further beyond if you follow our Saviour.

I can't lift in the morning. I have my greatest strength in the late afternoon/early evening.

I like how working out in the morning feels more controlled. Same routine every time as opposed to an entire day of variables between waking up and working out. Take a shit and eat a small breakfast. I don't want to work out with shit in my guts after lunch.

Plus there's less people around in the morning.

I had to be shown too. That's why I wanted to share it with you all.

It's about convenience, at one job I had I worked out at 7AM and/or in my lunchbreak because the gym was 1 block away.

I want to take care of lifting as soon as possible because it's a "high intensity" responsibility, I don't want to think to myself at 8PM: "Fuck man, I still have to do myorep lunges..."

Why do so many people get catty when the topic of the gym comes up? Haven't seen it in person since people don't really talk about retarded shit in person but I'm looking at a reddit thread about some guy who microwaved fish at his sisters house or whatever and the comments are filled with people upset about gym bros having eating disorders and accusing them of being "manosphere chuds" because they don't eat food with seasoning or whatever.

Its obviously cope and I love seeing it. We should make a gym cope thread lol

Also lol @ women not being attracted to you for being strong

Judging people based on their looks is verboten in leftoid fag circles so they can't admit that someone who works out looks more attractive than some skinnyfat schlub. To admit that someone who is fitter than you is more attractive than you is to admit that so many pillars of modern progressive soyfag religion are false and lies (healthy at any size, all people are equal in every way, women are just as capable and strong as men, men can be women and women can be men, etc etc etc). As such they must deny it lest the cracks start to form at the foundation of their belief structure.

Being able to cook is probably attractive but there's:
1. No way to show someone you can cook when you first meet them
2. No way women get sexually aroused over your ability to make a steak sandwich
