Weird Dreams Thread

Had a dream last night that an old elementary school friend I haven't seen in about 20 years (now an adult as well), my brother and Donald Trump were playing Texas Hold 'Em inside the Overlook Hotel. When I ran out to make a cigarette and beer run, the neighborhood became the same neighborhood I lived in during my college years. Found the cigarettes and booze inside a loot crate lying behind a bus stop post.

Anyone ever get sleep paralysis? I had it today during a nap in the stupidest fucking way.
In my dream I woke up and found someone breaking into my house, then I woke up paralyzed and fell asleep again after a minute. I immediately started dreaming again and my first thought was "at least it was just a dream" and then I found someone breaking into my fucking house again. Then I woke up paralyzed again. This shit repeated like 5 times, it was the dumbest mind fuck.

Had a sleep paralysis episode where I sensed my mom sitting at the end of my bed (while I was living alone). If she was dead I’m sure it would have been super fucking creepy. I can totally see why people used to believe in ghosts and demons and shit, that shit feels incredibly real even after you wake up.

Oh definitely, that's why I'm beyond glad that I never feel anything touching me during these episodes. Seeing weird shit is one thing but I'm not sure I'd be able to hand a demon sitting on my chest or something.

I had one, but I didn't see or feel anything unusual.

What does it mean that I had a dream where an old man who looked like my school's bus driver kissed me and tried to feel me up at a county fair?

I got a dream last night where in an elevator and the elevator kept stopping at random floors except for the 11th floor and every stop had a weird thing. Floor 9 was a jungle and Floor 23 was an airport. Floor 30 had a Victorian era tea party happening, Floor 42 stopped at an Russian subway station. Floor 64 had a friendly giant rat who was late for a business meeting. I woke up around Floor 70.

The different floors having a different theme reminds me of Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator where Charlie and Willy Wonka use the titular elevator inside the factory and Charlie sees all kinds of bizarre things going on as they travel to their destination within the factory.

My elevator dreams are similar. Instead of unusual floors and stops, however, the elevator itself has some unusual trait. To quote myself from earlier in the thread:

Also, any dream I have involving elevators turns out weird, because one of the following usually happens:
  • The doors open to reveal no elevator cab, a cab that stops between floors and can't be entered, or a cab that keeps going without stopping at the current floor.
  • There is a large hole in the cab's floor, making it impossible to enter without falling to one's death.
  • There is usually something physically impossible associated with the elevator cab, such as a fully-functional toilet in the corner.
  • The floor numbers increase randomly instead of sequentially - such as 1, 2, 17, 39, 125, etc.

Now, for my latest weird dream: I was so insomniac that it was 5:30 AM and I hadn't caught a single wink of sleep that night. My bedroom was bigger than it is in real life with my bed in the exact center of the room with enough space to walk around it on all sides, if desired. Also, there was a dog in my bed and a TV set in my room. The dog left the room and I turned the TV on just to see if there was anything so boring to watch that it would put me to sleep for even a couple of hours before I had to wake up for work. I also closed my bedroom door, much to the dog's chagrin because it wanted to come back into my room and I wanted to be alone and desperately get some amount of sleep.

Had a tupperware container of tiny, hyper-poisonous spiders slammed onto my head by someone who snuck up on me, and I watched as everything went blurry and I slumped over dead. 3/10

Can’t get weirder than my City dream.

I've had so many weird dreams lately I've started recording them. Most of them pertain to whatever game I've played recently, but there are exceptions. Last night I had a dream where a bunch of mice were running around my house and I had to pick them up by hand and throw them out the front door. This is the first dream I've had in a while where I can vividly recall being in pain. One of the mice started chewing my finger and the sound of it was the worst thing in the world.

Incidentally, do any of you have techniques to determine if you're dreaming or not? I used to think I couldn't read in dreams but I read a comic recently in a dream so that couldn't be it. What still reliably works is not being able to feel sensations on my skin. If I'm outside on a hot sunny day but don't feel the sun on my skin, I know I'm dreaming.

The most recent dream I can remember personally was one where my entire house was flooded, and I basically was a fish person.

Another one I kind of remember was one where I encountered some kind of tall, bipedal deer or moose creature in someone's backyard at night, and I promptly run towards it to attack it. I remember waking up by the time it kills me in the dream.

I recently had a dream that I was brainstorming ideas for my comic, SECOND SON, on Kiwi Farms. It's about Jesus Christ deciding that humanity has become so wicked, he has to be born again and die on the cross again. But humanity finds out, so people start killing all the children and eating their souls trying to steal Jesus's power. Now, in a grimdark world with no innocents left, baby Jesus has to kill the entire human race to stay alive and return to Heaven. In the first issue, he shows what a badass he is by circumcising himself (since he has to be circumcised but can't trust any human to do it for him).

I dreamt about being intoxicated from an unknown assortment of drugs and waking up with no memory of what happened to me over the past 3 days. The only thing I knew was that I had encountered the brother I had cut off before going on the binge, and that I needed to catch a train to NY at 3:00. I didn't know what timezone the departure was based on, nor did I know how to find the train. So I was wandering around confused and looking like a homeless person. The landscape looked like the Kalimari Desert track from Mario Kart 64, but with towers of metal cargo containers.

Dreamed that I was driving to work, turned the corner and drove through an extra-dimensional rift to this Limbo type area where the surrounding landscape was just this void of eggshell white vapor except for a house. The house, the lawn, everything was tailored exactly to my approximation of a "perfect home" Inside was my ex, who acted like we were still together. We "lived" for awhile as a couple until I started feeling like I had taken a strong hit of acid. The walls started melting, the color started draining from my ex, and the white vapor outside started to turn solid and grey, like asphalt. I blinked and then I was back driving to work on my regular route.

I woke up sad.
