One piece has really shitty character designs, but some good ones as well. As for the art style... it used to be good, but then it turned into shit

No. There is legit issues with the drawings.

Calling it a "style" is what art school frauds do when they justify their bad art.

There are bad “art styles”, this thread has plenty of examples already, but there is a difference between art style and character design. Character design focuses on how a character is dressed, colored, etc.

Art style takes that design and draws everything certain way.

Same design, but different art styles.

Necroing this thread to talk about Dropout Fruit Tart. I really have a love-hate relationship with the art style. The designs are cute and the characters look decent when viewed from the front but then you do a profile view and it looks....weird.

What the hell is up with that snout?

It's not actively explained but it can be argued that it's to highlight her intense lesbian obsession with the main character

I wish I could hate these designs but they grew on me. The hands are still disgusting though. R07 is not a good artist.

Off topic: my husband made me watch some anime of this recently and it was the most edgelord shit I've ever sat through in awhile. If my eyes weren't rolling as hard as they do when I'm possed from the gory shit, I was laughing at it.

Thankfully he doesn't make me watch it anymore, but I do kind of feel bad since its his faveorite video game series or something.

The source material is much less an edgy shitfest. It's actually really good. The anime really went for the whole "crazy-omg-bloody anime girl OMG" and it's made by DEEN. DEEN is asscancer.

I'm glad someone finally pointed out how insanely lanky the character designs for most of Shaft's characters are. I have no idea how they fit inside the Mecha.

It could be insanely slow as most nips don't know when to cut content because its redundant. Like how he goes into detail about pointless fluff that is never mentioned again in the entirety of his works for HOURS. Umineko is infamous for getting people to give up on 07th works and overall, the redditor hack makes very low end rambling VNs.

Layla from idolmaster. Tanned anime girls are cute, especially blondes, however, the contrast in her color scheme is horrible. Her eyes are too bright. It would've been better if she had deep blue eyes, however I know they just wanted to make her "different", though, they don't realize that the design is too saturated.
