Wendigoon Thread

And you fail because most normies know at least one fag who isn't a child sniffing pedo and they dismiss you as a Christfag. If you say you don't support the LGBT movement because they support harmful politics, act like a bunch of bullies even to their own kind and spread harmful mind viruses among children that goad them into cutting off parts of their bodies, then you might be more successful.
"Asian men are shorter on average". And you fail because most normies know at least one Asian who isn't short and they dismiss you as a racist. If you say the average male height in China is 5'7", the average male height in Japan is 5'7" and the average male height in South Korea is also 5'7", then you might be more successful.

Oh yeah.
Pure kino, really interesting and high energy. It's interesting to look at how Christians interpret the bible. Christianity in the west would have probably fared a lot better if it stuck to showing the beauty and intricacy of the written word rather than sermons on how to <insert political sperging>.

I couldn't hear a fucking thing being said when the sound effects were playing in the new story. They manage to get the music to a serviceable level but ear rape you with SFX.

>Abandoned ship story
This could be fun
The boys mentioned it briefly but it bears repeating: the narrator sounds like a woman. Maybe a pooner. Between all the screaming and bizarre hysterics all throughout—it sounds less like a lifelong sailor who's seen his fair share of crazy storms and more like the cop from Patch Lane who suddenly became a sailor one day. It wouldn't even change the story all that much. Frankly, his actions all throughout the narrative would end up making a hell of a lot more sense.

Anyway, rest of the story is basically The Shining on a boat. I've never even watched the movie and it's so obvious. Half expecting the crazy axe guy to start breaking down a door at some point. The plot doesn't make a whole lot of sense: why is it a bad thing that the ship is suddenly moving? The story gives absolutely no explanation for that when it's introduced, and yet acts like they're all gonna die if they don't stop it RIGHT NOW. Also, despite the entire story taking place on the ship we get so little description of the inside of it. It's a small nitpick, but you'd think the author would actually try when it's so central to the plot.

The story started strong. Ending is an alright idea. A lot in between does need a rewrite/second draft. I can tell the boys are trying not to be too mean at the end but are defeated by the repetitive phrases from the story and Nate becoming an unlikable bitch. At least it wasn't godawful, and the boys had fun with it at parts.

The problem is they are always being too nice.
Lay into the author's a bit. Don't have to be cruel but god damn. The fans will like it and it'll be good for some of these author's to hear their writing needs work instead of just endless praise and sugar coated reviews, regardless if they're fans of the show or not. I think they should just stop reading fans works all together if they're gonna pussyfoot around criticism.

Latest Red Thread features FriendlyJordies as a guest this time. I thought someone like Jordie with a lot of experience fucking with glowies and darker government forces would be a good match for Wendi but he was like a fish out of water. It's the least I have heard him speak on any podcast which is a shame. Jackson riffs off Jordie quite well on the other hand.

If he can't do his team USA thing, Wendi doesn't seem to have much to add to the podcast. Part of me thinks Jackson should do Red Thread on his own, something about it feels slightly awkward now that Charlie and Oompa have both left.

They need to really workshop it. Red Thread was always rough mainly because they do niche topics so most of the other hosts can't contribute much information, and their topics frequently pretty dark so the guests can't contribute though making quips and jokes either. So most episodes have an awkward energy to it.

It's a shame because I was a early days Official Podcast fan so I really want it to be successful but I honestly think adding in new members is gonna be difficult since those guys have been at it for 8 years now.

I think if Wendi can cut the crap and be serious it would really help his content. I thought the recent episode with Jordie would do that since Jordie is a very matter of fact guy but Wendi just seemed to shut off instead. I think Wendi would have some genuine and constructive thoughts but both him and Jackson need to decide if it's gonna be a serious cold case/true crime podcast or a light hearted wacky conspiracy show.

I finally got through the Abandoned Ship Creepcast. Despite hating the NoSleep rules, I was really liking the story at first. Atmosphere was great, Author could have worked on dialogue.

But then it just gets worse. And worse. And worse. This is why stories need editors. The rug pull at the end sucks ass and would have been better served being the narrator describing getting hit and waking up feeling great.

I am very disappointed because I love boat horror set pieces.

The no sleep rules really didn't mesh well with this setting. Further, having the characters basically break the fourth wall (e.g., acknowledge the commenters telling them it's a ghost ship) was particularly atrocious. The dialogue writing was poor in general with some particular stinkers that stick out to me. I don't mind some cheese but this story veers more so into soy, self-aware, "millenial writing" than the sort of earnest kitsch that was present in I Dared My Best Friend to Ruin My Life or Jeff the Killer. Overall, unenjoyable story - which is a shame because I like the setting.

>skip half an hour in
>hunter still doing the shitty accent
And I’m out
I'm rather tolerant of goofy VA, but doing the British accent OOC did cross my threshold - coupled with the length made for a rather grating experience (I suppose it befits such a shoddy story).

I saw that. I wonder if any of the issue was lag (it's hard playing on Australian servers), or if they should consider spotting Wendi some research time on the subject when it's going to be Australian politics or one of the less-known US coups.

Also surprised he hadn't seen the 1988 Dukakis tank helmet, but then I remembered time passes in a linear fashion and I am old.

They need to lean into the latter. There are plenty of other podcasts that do true crime better, meanwhile I want a podcast that covers wacky conspiracy highjinks, cryptids, and kooky individuals.

Hunter's bits are hit and miss, but at least he is trying. Compared to Wendi's other cohosts, I prefer that over Jackson/Charlie/Oompa that are just sit there.

I wouldn’t mind it at all if it were a shitty half hour long short story, especially one actually featuring British characters, but for hours on a decent story, when he’s just doing it to be silly is just too grating for me.

decent story
It’s a hair’s breadth above straight up shit - so much so that they even started to lay into the writing cliches (shiver up my spine, the chills, the screaming, etc.) near the end - which is saying something given that they tend to completely glaze viewer stories (if they were more frank they’d be even harsher, but I digress).

100% agree, and even with this rather subpar bit there were nonetheless some good payoffs (the initial reveal that the story wasn’t even British, the excitement whenever anything British fortuitously happened to appear to “Justify” Hunter’s initial beliefs, etc.)

Absolutely fucking agree. Pretending "Everything is fine" while BOTH of you sound dead inside lets me know you have some harsh things to say. Just say it already.
While I agree, I can also see why they don't want to be too harsh (as deserved as the criticism is, this story went downhill hard).

You probably dont't want you/your fanbase accused of brigading in the modern wasteland that is modern-day YouTube, especially when Wendigoon and Meatcanyon have had spergs go after them.

That being said, this story was just like Deepwoods. It started off strong, but it ended up retarded and disappointing.

Fair point, but at the very least do not pretend all is sunshine and rainbows while you are dead inside.

Sadly it didn't become as funny bad as Deepwoods did for me, but it had almost the same progression. Even had the main character shirking responsibility.

The way I'd look at it is Meat is a story teller, his animations reflect that, and Wendigoon is well versed in many stories, so I would definitely be happy to have them critique/review my work, there's a learning potential in there that every author/story teller should be grabbing for each and every chance they get to better hone their abilities to make intriguing works.
What I can't possibly fathom is wanting Meat or Wendi to look at my work let alone read it to their entire audience if I'm afraid of criticism.
Don't sign up for the talent show if you got stage fright.
