I can sorta believe this story was based on somewhat true stories/events.
The female cop being fucking useless and blaming it, and everything else, on sexism is definitely true. And I can buy the whole "yeah we keep getting calls from this house and none of us know why. We check it out cause we have to but nothing ever happens" bit. I also 100% believe the part where the dumb bitch goes into the house alone without back up, despite that being one of the dumbest fucking things you could ever do as an officer. Especially at night as a woman.
What I don't believe, despite it being presented as part of the true pieces of lore used for the story, is the female officer refusing backup before going in because she didn't wanna pull anyone away from a DUI crash. Unless that DUI was an all-hands situation, refusing backup was some top tier "I'm a strong independent woman who don't need no man" shit. This is how cops get ambushed with a shotgun to the head. Or raped then killed in her case. Very retarded main character.
The story itself was just boring. The mystery wasn't particularly interesting because "unexplained calls from what should be an abounded house" is strangely bottom of the barrel for spooky shit a cop might encounter. But the ending turned it from "forgettable and inoffensive" to "I hope everyone in this story dies".
Tommy Taffy/Urban Spook is the closest they got, oddly enough.
