Wendigoon Thread

The story started interesting and it did give them a way in for some outstanding banter and jokes which is really what I watch them for. Story fell off hard but that adds to my enjoyment of watching them. I wish they did the story they mentioned they were going to do cos it's a much better one and I imagine it would be so much fun to watch them read it.

In the based sense or the soy ACAB sense?
I don't think he was serious about ACAB he was even being sarcastic with a bit on sorting things out yourself without cops. I took that as a jibe at those who want all police gone because wtf do you do when you need them? Maybe I read it wrong though.

How bad do you think it has to get before they go "yeah, no more from this author."
Or they just say it irredeemably sucks?

They're still wanting to continue Borrasca after reading Deepwoods.

It'd likely have to be a story that is so boring that they couldn't even riff with it. That being said, if they come across a story like this, I imagine the episode would end up being scrapped rather than them saying the story/author is bad.

I can sorta believe this story was based on somewhat true stories/events.

The female cop being fucking useless and blaming it, and everything else, on sexism is definitely true. And I can buy the whole "yeah we keep getting calls from this house and none of us know why. We check it out cause we have to but nothing ever happens" bit. I also 100% believe the part where the dumb bitch goes into the house alone without back up, despite that being one of the dumbest fucking things you could ever do as an officer. Especially at night as a woman.

What I don't believe, despite it being presented as part of the true pieces of lore used for the story, is the female officer refusing backup before going in because she didn't wanna pull anyone away from a DUI crash. Unless that DUI was an all-hands situation, refusing backup was some top tier "I'm a strong independent woman who don't need no man" shit. This is how cops get ambushed with a shotgun to the head. Or raped then killed in her case. Very retarded main character.

The story itself was just boring. The mystery wasn't particularly interesting because "unexplained calls from what should be an abounded house" is strangely bottom of the barrel for spooky shit a cop might encounter. But the ending turned it from "forgettable and inoffensive" to "I hope everyone in this story dies".

Tommy Taffy/Urban Spook is the closest they got, oddly enough.

Wendi drawing the line at Spook for making shit too 'disturbing' whereas he never called out Kister for using suicide on the MC or Casanas for using school shootings in the MM, and then turns out all his friends but Kane Parsons derail their stories for the worst while Spook made a critical comeback.

If Zane wasn't such a faggot he literally had his job done for him and I'm saying it as someone that does like Wendi.

Finally catching up, and I got to say both episodes were saved by the banter.

The fly trap house was certainly better especially the middle part with the baby sitter but besides the homeless chick being an annoying character the explanations were just awful.

The cop story was just trash, and the fact wendi started the episode talking about checking out her book to the way it ended was great. Also there's no way this is based off a true story in any way.

The Nightmare Fighting Tournament might do it, especially if they realize it's a rip off of the Security Guard at a Secret Government Prison story and that the main character is a self-insert.
This could be interesting as an endurance challenge to see how far they can get before calling it quits, because it's so fucking long too.

For the first quarter of the episode I was really annoyed by how off topic Hunter kept taking it, it took them forever to get through like part 2 with all the cop and homeless and childhood trauma sperging, and by the end I was wishing they’d stop reading and just spend the rest of the time over sharing stupid stories from their youths.

Yeah part me wonders if hunter had some drinks or something before hand they he going off topic hard. Especially when just started talking about his bidet.

They've done a few by the Tommy taffy author and enjoyed all of them I believe.

Didn't Wendi say he liked TT and make a stream clip video on wendigang channel that said Urban spook was good now?
I don't watch the obligatory "stream clips" channel every youtuber has, so idk. Maybe. I just seem to recall the opinion of Taffey being what good it has is over shadowed by dumb characters and child abuse, which is like 50% of every pasta in some form.

As for Spook, I'm going off the creepcast vid and not his own personal video, or the stream clips. And iirc that was endlessly bitching about how it's just edge for the sake of it. Which is the other 50% of every pasta.
But did he change his opinion on spook? And if so, why? Did the creator magically get better or did Wendi become friends with him or have a personal conversation? Those two things seem to do a lot of heavy lifting for his opinions on this stuff.

I've only recently started going back and watching creep cast so the streams are fresh in my head.

They thought highly of Tommy Taffy in the sense that it is well written. Their criticism for the dad of the story was based on him being a terrible human being who did a shit job by first having a kid despite knowing about the curse and then being such a coward he didn't get himself killed trying to protect his family. It wasn't a narrative critique.

Their only real criticism of the story was that the sexual abuse was needlessly detailed and would have been better left implied.

That was fun. "These are the [photos/paintings]" still made me laugh every time lol. Hopefully they get a chance to watch it for creeptv. Not to say it looks as bad as a PS1 game but I really love the PS1 aesthetic.

I want to see Wendi sarcastically give it some honest praise before forcing Meat to watch it because I think Meat would be impressed and really enjoy it and him going from annoyed to be forced to sit through more only to end up having fun would be fun to watch

E: watching Wendi watch it now, stream here:
Looks like it starts at 27:00-ish into the stream, I'll summarize whatever he says once I finish watching this portion

27:00-32:59: Mostly just some generic mild praise. This is better, this is neat, etc, "I wonder what he used to make this, was it a game?"

32:59: "BESIDE THE MATTRESS STOOD A BUCKET CONTAINING SEVERAL MALE GENITALIA

Wendi chuckles and nods, "Ok. There he is. There's our guy." Seemed like he was fine with the fictional sexual violence since there's some actual substance/effort to the video and not just a picture and descriptions of the violence

35:27: Jones family. This one made me cringe in a good way, as in I was actually spooped for a sec once I realized what the cartoony demonstration was demonstrating, and the 'real' version of it looks awesome. He liked this one, said this format works a lot better for him (which I 100% agree on)

37:55: More laughing, "Human Centipede let's go!"

39:00: Some praise for the technical quality of the video itself, camera movements etc

40:00: Praises the restraint of the gory/violent descriptions rather than just going completely over the top every chance he gets

41:28: Very impressed with the live action lol

End: "Dare I say... This is the best one."

A bit more praise regarding restraint and earning the ending

Seemed like he had fun watching it, "Kinda good," "That was neat. I enjoyed that. Sick."

And he subscribed lol

I think I hit all the notable reactions
