This one in particular is funny to me because anyone who's ridden on a public transport will tell you that it's not the ugly white southern women you need to be watching out for
Idk man. Haven't you seen all those videos of Billy Jean Country Queen randomly stabbing people and setting them on fire only to find out they've got a record stretching back at least a decade and a half full of rape and violence, while shouting "THIS IS MAGA COUNTRY"?
They finally finished Marble Hornets. Hopefully they'll do Rosswood some day too

Slenderman is something I have no shame in admitting I just don't get it. It's not that it's not appealing or interesting, I just don't get it.

The Marble Hornets shit is about Slender like, taking control of these people and making them into like slaves/vassals for his will or whatever. But the most popular bit of slender shit that seems to have actually gotten popular is the whole "he's a lovecraftian pedophile thing that snatches kids" or whatever youd get from creepypasta. But then there's the games where it's just some random shithead collecting scraps of paper with the whole premise being "slenders gonna get ya. Don't look at it".

What the fuck is this even supposed to be about? Was this just a neat idea that immediately got scooped up and turned into a million different things to the point the original idea got lost in the sauce? Or, most likely, am I just incredibly retarded? I'll go with the latter just to be safe.

Ironically, The Operator never actually takes control of anyone. That happens in basically every other slenderman continuity but Marble Hornets is the only one where that's not a factor. He definitely has an effect on people's personalities/memories but they're still in control of themselves and making their own decisions. Alex is trying to kill everyone who's been exposed because he thinks it's the only way to stop The Operator. Masky/Tim is trying to keep everyone alive because he knows the infection can be suppressed, at least when he's able to remember that fact, and he's driven to do it because he knows he's the one who infected everyone else. Jay is just kind of a bumbling retard who's constantly pulled between helping the two of them, while Hoody/Brian mostly just wants to kill Alex who he blames for being infected and is slowly becoming more and more deranged because he refuses to let his memories be reset. Really frustrating that proxies got attached to Marble Hornets to the point that The Operator is blamed for every bad decision that the main four make since they're not a part of the series at all

Originally Marble Hornets was a big ARG happening in real time. The videos are the main part that everyone knows but there's a lot that happened only on Twitter that's never directly mentioned in the videos as well and I'm sure it's a big part of why so many people remember it so fondly. A lot of times the videos wouldn't progress until someone solved a puzzle to 'help' Jay find the next clue, next batch of videos, whatever. I think there's actually still a few that have never been solved. Just the videos are still a fun spoopy story imo but the 'point' was the audience interaction so it's understandable that you feel like you're missing out on something since it doesn't really come up in the videos

I'm not really familiar with any other Slender stuff, and I don't think any of the other big series were able to finish because they dragged out long enough for the people running them to become/be exposed as degenerates

Yeah, I described Marble Hornets to a friend as a creepy Blair Witch style story. I actually think I was following this for a bit and then the dude moved and I forgot about the series. Once again, seeing a part 3 next to the most recent release has made me aware that I'm behind again.

So what ever happened to the Apocalypse Now thing? I went back to the Heart of Darkness vid to make sure he said it was gonna be on his channel. He also said it was gonna be a few days after that one went up and that was a few days ago at this point. I didn't see anything on his twitter about it either.

Product of old internet, ARGs and morse code channels like TTA still had a lot of mystique in 2011. Same with BENDrowned - the fun wasn't so much the videos, but the weird shit that'd happen with the old youtube video reply function and then the Forum.
I think there's actually still a few that have never been solved.
Just one, which they admit was fucked up and unsolvable - so they had to use the twitter to have Jay solve it in real time to give it a pass naturally.

They just all sucked and got too bloated collabing with each other. TT always sucked, and EMH had a good start but got bogged down in creating a 'Slenderverse' with 2view Tumblr shitheads and it diminished their product from that point.

Just finished Marble Hornets 3: Revenge of the Horni, and two thoughts stood out to me:

1) Wendi absolutely not standing for Meat's intro stupidity and then proceeding to no-fun hammer him with FNAF lore for ten minutes was so fucking cathartic. The very moment Hunter did his intro and launched into that retarded "In honor of Slenderman I played Five Nights at Freddy's" schtick, I (and apparently Goon) knew EXACTLY where he was going to go with it. He might as well have started calling video games "Nintendos" and talking about collecting "Pokeymans." Christ, I hate artificially-forced ignorance,

2) I wish to God someone at some point in the MH recording process had just said, "Yo, people don't fucking talk like this, guys." The acting was decent, but you can't just take prose straight from a page and slap it in someone's mouth. It's so damn awkward and it ripped me out of the narrative every time.

(keep in mind all of this is shouted in a heated argument)
"I just came to you now because I need your help."
"Oh my help, my help with what?"
"There's this girl, Jessica, she disappeared, and I know Alex had something to do with it."
"Oh you do? How do you know that? Who exactly is Jessica, huh? Somebody you met in a hotel once? Somebody you've spoken to for a grand total of twice?"

It's fine on a page. But the second you start saying it out loud, it just falls apart. Everyone sounds like they're in a shitty porno that doesn't know it's shitty.

Weirdly low energy episode this time around, or the previous entries were simply better edited. Wouldn't mind CreepTV never coming back if they're going to act like this for the rest of them.

I liked it, though. It's a very lowkey, personal story. You can imagine there really were a bunch of college kids in Alabama losing their minds and trying to kill each other over the Slenderman. I can see why it's not to people's taste, and by the end it certainly starts to drag on, but it has a certain staying power compared to a purely plot-heavy narrative. You can run out of plot, but you can't run out of people simply living their lives.

Really, the show's biggest draw is that there is no final point to it all. Alex is dead, Tim should have died, and there's two people left who are probably going to distance themselves from cameras and everything that happened so they can move on with their lives. The plot is over, but what was Slenderman trying to achieve all along, besides making people miserable? He's the final and biggest loose end and the series absolutely doesn't address him adequately enough.

I like to think Marble Hornets, the channel, was his goal this whole time. Expand his influence, build up his legend beyond anything else he could have done down there in Alabama. Could have been a cool reveal.

There was also another story on the Patreon, "Anniversary" by the Stairs in the Woods author. It was fun, creepy, and punchy. There was a whole discussion on whether it works better as a standalone tale, or as part of the greater SaR narrative. I lean to the former. With certain (egregious) exemptions, Stairs toes the line between fiction and reality pretty well that you could mistakenly think it's actually real. A whole-ass abandoned town near this park with many witnesses to the event and somehow no media coverage is just too unbelievable, too fictional, to take the rest of it seriously.

Hunter has a solo reading up on the patreon/kemono. Goon does a mighty job of keeping Hunter focused and curbing his immediate "this is fucking dogshit" reactions. He even admits this himself kek. He ended up loving the story which is nice, but my read of it was "Monopoly meme about the game being super serious taken seriously". Like the story was literally just a roundabout take on the meme of how Monopoly ruins friendships. Could be wrong. Probably misinterpreted it.

I took it as Goon being butthurt Hunter unironically equated Slender to FNAF, because he's ignorant and doesn't see the real difference( I don't blame him). So Goon spergs a little on FNAF lore to a guy he knows doesn't care, but he has to do it because he's autistic. This happens so often it might as well be a bit.

Big fan of this guy and Hunter, saw some people on TikTok shitting on Hunter for joking about some autistic guy? What's the context behind that, and was what he said based?

This is a very asinine and autistic complaint but it always bothers me how they confuse 'psychotic' with 'psychopathic'. I don't recall the exact symptoms of ASPD but I am almost positive that like 80% of the time they mean psychotic or schizophrenic and they havent corrected themselves in the entirety of CreepCast's catalogue.
