Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

Does anybody remember the show Time Squad? It aired in the early 2000s on the CN and focused on the adventures of three time cops who live in the future and use time travel to go to different eras of history preventing major historical figures from straying from their paths in history to ensure the timelines safety and prevent the worlds future from being drastically changed. The series was notable for being the first series Cartoon Network actually ever produced independent from any Hannah- Barbera members following Williams death in 2001. It ran for only a single season until being cancelled due to low ratings despite being nominated for 5 Annie’s during its run.

The show is honestly an underrated gem with some great early 2000s animation, with the thick outlines and hard angular character designs and scenery iconic to that era, the concept was also pretty unique and allowed for some great character dynamics between the main time squad and allowed for some really funny and unique reimagining’s of famous historical figures and their histories.

But the strangest thing about this show is that for some reason after it ended it was really wiped from TV and even the Internet to even today. It only ever had one DVD release in England back in 2004 and has never been officially released fully on any streaming platform, neither on Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, or even The recent CN app or HBO Max taht has almost every CN show to date. It brings to question of why? What about the series has made CN want to pretty much deny it’s existence to this day? Is it copyright law, does anybody care or can explain this shows strange disappearance?
maybe it was used for some tax clearance? i know of generator rex and megas xrl (sp?) that are in a limbo? for tax reasons, afaik.

Could we imagine then in 20 years, they'll complain saying then lesbians aren't properly portrayed just like that Indian director who complained about Apu's portrayal in the Simpsons.:story:
Wasn't he a Indian comedian who no one had heard of before and blamed Apu for not being famous. Sure bro the fictional character is the reason your career sucks. Now he's known as the asshole who killed Apu.

The trailer for DOTA 2's Dragon’s Blood, Season 2, is out. I noticed that a lot of people have been shitting on the show, because of how the 1st Season felt rushed, and because of how it was overshadowed by Riot's Arcane being a massive success.

I do wonder how the show will fair though.

2nd episode was pretty good, art style was a little off at points(Jimmy Fallon looked like he was rotoscoped???) but overall solid.

Was shrimp voiced by blaze the movie fan? Or was it someone doing an impression?

I caught chillz was the creature at the cafe, mick ricepirate was the guy at the gym, and maybe that was harry partridge doing the shmormou announcement at the start of the show? I assume the girl was someone as well.

There's a lot of nice little jokes and background references. The guy on the tv in the background at the gym looks a lot like zach's old STRONK animation. Also liked the guy progressively beating the other guy's head to mush in the hall at shrimp's apartment. Mr. Frog coming in with the hammer was also a reference to an old zach joke. Have to watch again to catch all the nonsense going on the world.

Shrimp was voiced by the guy who did Salad Fingers. Also I’ve seen people say the old guy at the gym was Max G.

If you have full access to Adult Swim, the entire first season is on the app.

EDIT: actually the full season just aired on Adult Swim. It’s about to repeat.

Also this link leads nowhere special.

So a few weeks ago, back in December, I decided to catch up on a show I used to watch as a kid but could barely remember, Captain Simian and the Space Monkeys. It was another in the long line of would-be TMNT knock-offs, and I figured it might be average at best, but to my surprise it actually holds up rather well. One of the reasons why it does hold up so well is that it doesn't take itself too seriously, and has a good sense of humor. It's not as surreal as say, the Earthworm Jim animated series, but it knows when to be comedic. It also helps that the creators of the show are genuine fans of sci-fi.

The show also has a good voice cast, with titular character Captain Simian voiced by radio host Jerry Doyle, Gor voiced by James Avery (1987 TMNT Shredder and Uncle Phil), Jeff Bennet as multiple characters, Michael Dorn (Worf from Next Generation) as the main villain Nebula, and Malcolm McDowell as secondary villain Rhesus-2. The show's intro is pretty good, too.

Heads up, all the video uploads of the show are VHS quality:

Only the first 17 episodes are on youtube, so you'll have to use another streaming site to watch the whole series.

Again, it's not a perfect show, but it's surprisingly good and stands the test of time rather well, so if you get the chance, I highly recommend you check it out.

>20 years
It already happens now as we speak.

It was actually two guys believe it or not. In addition to that one comedian, a producer named Adi Shankar started a script contest to “fix” Apu and was even the one who reported that they were writing him out, which got blowback from the Simpsons staff. To his credit, unlike the comedian hack, Shankar backed off and focused more on making animated video game adaptations for Netflix.
