Cartoon reviewer Schaffrillas is in critical condition with two others confirmed dead. Killed by the thing he hated most, Cars, 2 of them
Jesus Christ, regardless of how you feel about the guy himself or any of the cartoon 'reviewers', this is a terrible thing to happen to anyone. James and his family are in my prayers and I hope he pulls through.

Honestly, last time I watched the complete series (I have the DVD set), I only had two issues.

One, late in the series there's an episode about the Library of Alexandria. My big problem is this is one of the more blatantly moraltastic episodes--"reading is fun!"--... problem is they bend the character of Clyde (the little sister character) over backwards to make her just an impatient little kid who doesn't understand the value of books, when there was already a "library" episode where she had more or less the opposite portrayal (Quinten missed his chance to get knowledge from that episode's immortal, Ramirez suggests he take up reading... to which Clyde takes the book and says "I'll help.") In general I was always fine with Clyde because she acted more or less how I expected someone in her circumstances to act--while she's at times childish, you can tell in some episodes that living in this hellscape made her grow up fast.

Two was the very last episode, which really seems to me like it was meant to be a grand finale. Quinten and Kortan have this dramatic meeting where they both state with serious tones that this is gonna be their final meeting... but then their fight gets interrupted, as usual.

Back when I was autistic enough to write fanfics I had an idea for an ending to this series, but since I don't bother with fanwork anymore I probably won't do anything with it.
Basically I would've had Kortan kidnap that little sister and raise her to try and corrupt her, and she stays in his custody until adulthood... but he winds up coming to genuinely like her. Thus can't bring himself to kill Quintin when the time for the duel comes. Quintin has also realized that while Kortan's ideas are immoral in some ways, the fact is he has a modern city with high technology in a world where everyone else lives in shit-huts, so they wind up finding a way to combine their attitudes to bring the world back to prosperity... and develop space lasers in case any more of those pesky comets come by (since that's what wrecked the world the first time). They also later sense that Clyde is an unawakened immortal but, unlike Duncan in the endgame movie, actually give her the choice of whether to be awakened or live a normal life... she chooses the latter and winds up dying of old age. Its only then that Kortan and Quintin go somewhere to presumably have their final battle. Neither is ever seen again although stories of a wise hermit get passed around.

But yeah, for me Highlander is similar to Thundercats in that its a lot of little things that make it compelling. The music and art both simultaneously take me back to the past, but also transport me to an awesome world that doesn't suck ass... and it really is its particular vision of the post-apocalypse that I love. I don't normally even like these kinds of settings. And I keep saying its a stealth remake of Thundarr... in that show, the way Princess Ariel kept knowing ancient Earth stuff was kind of a "well she happened to read it in a book" ordeal which at times sounded just short of believable. Ramirez knowing because he was actually there though, that tracks to me.
That honestly would have made more sense if the order of episodes has been rearranged.

So Velma, harley quinn, and cutting out good content people would actually want to watch?

See this is why my first new years resolution was to leave streaming.

Speaking of Harley Quinn.....I've heard that there's a theory that the show is all how Harley sees the world through her twisted and messed up little thot brain. Which....would explain somethings. Why is joker drawn as his goofy prankster incarnation as designed by the second Batman artist Dick Sprang but still a homicidal maniac? Because Harley wants to see him as a loveable prankster but the reality of him being a murderous abuser will always slip though.

Why is Jim Gordon a nervous wreck and possibly an alcoholic instead of the no nonsense by the book cop he usually is? Because Harley hates him for constantly busting her ass over the years and being a stick in the mud. Hell it would explain why Bane, Clayface, and King Shark are all needy neurotic best friends (and in clayfaces case a gay bff) as opposed to the deranged maniacs or in Bane's case genius bruisers they tend to usually be.

It wouldn't fix the show or it's problems but at least it does put things into context....If it was actually confirmed cannon and not a fan theory at best.

So I saw this thread spread around a while. Basically saying that streaming services are incentivized to pull the plug early on shows to farm the most money. Which would make it understandable when services drop the entire season to watch in one day.

I'm curious how successful streaming or I guess unsuccessful it is that this is a working strategy.

I can understand hate watching and the IP giving velma enough numbers for a 2nd season. But I can't understand some of these other shows getting the axe.

Is hatewatching really what's carrying big mouth to 5 seasons? Are shows that are nearly universally hated able to get more viewers than something like inside job? I mean I don't think some of these shows cancelled were the pinnacle of animation but between inside job or velma/big mouth I'd ASSUME most would pick the former.

FFS if your gonna hate watch at least have the decency to do it on the 7 seas. You don't NEED a torrent or any fancy equipment to do it either. I'm watching pretty much all my movies and tv and reading comics all on clearnet sites that are all as legit as the farms is.

Big Mouth probably appeals to the same people who enjoy Family Guy. I don't just mean they like Family Guy, I mean they really enjoy it.

Okay, does the forum software prevent you from editing certain posts? I was gonna update one of the links in my post about John the Fearless because the English version was removed from youtube (the uploader took down his channel) but the "edit post" button isn't showing up.

If a mod or someone could splice this into my post about the movie on Page 502, I'd be grateful:

Alternate upload on Internet Archive (split into two parts for some reason) Part 1 .... Part 2

Alright, I want to give this show another shot and try not to sound like a sped.

The show is simply put, a half parody, and not some deep look into Harley’s mind. It is a show that is a joke on Batman, yet still retains some level of a coherent narrative. I honestly feel like the show is trying to replicate the success of say, Panty & Stocking, which was a raunchy, South Park lite, parody of magical girls, yet still held a genuine narrative. LEGO Batman is probably a more amp comparison though as many of the characterizations seemed ripped from that film such as Bane and King Shark being more comedic.

I feel that as a one season show, the series worked. It had an end goal of fixing the main character similar to that of LEGO Batman while going through a comedic rendition of the Batman mythos. The trajectory of Harley’s character from being Joker’s bitch, to needing to out due and prove herself to him, to Ivy finally getting it in her thick skull that she needs to stop seeking validation was handled pretty well, or at least, as well as a comedic take like LEGO. Season 2 started out promising, but fell apart due to there not being a real character arc to achieve. At first, it was fine as the premise of No Man’s Land, the popular story that inspired Arkham City, did most of the heavy lifting, but once they lost that it was directionless. Same goes for Season 3, as episodes were just random misadventures with little plot and the jokes getting progressively worse as the ship continued. A big contributor to the rot being the more widespread insertion of the writers’ fetishes. The end to season 3 gave me some hope though. They had a few really good episodes with interesting ideas, a stand out being the one in Bruce’s mind.

The show is an anomaly to me. It is not a completely hopeless series and has high points, but it feels like it never really knows what it wants and seeing the Valentines Day special only makes me think it is going to get bad again. I feel like if half the show was cut out, you would get a serviceable series, but as is, it is just a lot of lost potential. I will take the unpopular opinion of saying I enjoy the series, but I do wish it was better.

Being way too focused on making Harley and Ivy a couple while both justifying it and making everyone okay with it was a big mistake, in my opinion, and something that kinda hurts it overall, as they don’t want to include any real drama with the relationship. But there is some stuff in the show that’s legitimately good. Kiteman in general, the whole joke of Joker being a stepdad, ect. The side stuff is carrying a lesser overall narrative.

The side characters really carry the show. Ivy in particular was not someone I thought I would care for, but she was pretty funny for the first half. I think Harley is weirdly the worst part of the show in many aspects. Season one she was alright, but the further it went, the more her antics made me question why the squad really stuck with her, she has like no off button. She really only became likable again when dealing with Bruce’s trauma.

Harley and Ivy’s relationship is just a byproduct of Harley’s shittiness. The two have little chemistry and are basically juxtaposed for most of the series. Harley really cares little for Ivy in season 1 & 2 and is overall a shit friend, but gets her dream relationship anyway.

I never said it was a DEEP look into Harley's mind. A half Parody yes but also the world of the DC universe through the eyes of a single minded perpetual teenager.

Because that's all Harley is to DC anymore. Then again even Paul and Tim in Mad love hinted she didn't have much in the brains department. Having gone to college on an athletic scholarship and then slept her way through med school.

I actually enjoyed some Schaffrillas videos though they had their flaws (obviously). Compared to a lot of other cartoon reviewers, they didn't seem that bad afaik.

Who was the one who did all the talking in the videos? Was it James (who I think is still alive)? My condolences to them. I assume the channel will either continue or (understandably) go on an indefinite hiatus.

It’s bizarre to me whenever something terrible like this happens, people will spend like a full paragraph on Twitter explains why they hate a person only to add at the very end “but this was sad for them”.

Like it’s okay to feel bad for someone you don’t 100% agree with, Christ.

Anybody who knows who is the original artist of this legendary image? I remember that it was posted on /co/ back on 2020

I found two funny edits of this pic
i still dont get why wokies hate that disney "queerbaits" them. like travel back in time to like 2004 and tell the average person disney would have two underage girls in a lesbian romance in a show, there's no further appeal to it, it got two and a half seasons and only adults watch it. theyd be surprised at the turnaround. now if youre going to have lgbt romance, thats fine, but kids arent interested in any romance and really you should have an adult romance which is what those supposed heteronormative romances were for. so dads could goon to jasmine (creepy i know). now if youre going to be an adult, watching a show to support the cause, i can just let it be bygones im not a groomer accuser just like how i dont accuse rightoids of being nazis for saying they dont like immigrants one time in 2007 but like could the adults do the bare minimum and not make porn of these characters and push kids out of the fanbase?

there was also an article i read by a former john oliver writer who's more of a normal lib who explains that a lot of these shows arent grooming kids, theyre just idiots. like they jokingly say they have a gay agenda because they view putting gay people as normal and as political as straight couples, it just makes them hypocrites because they accused heteronormativity as being a thing for years. however their idea of a "realistic" couple is always wishful thinking, the proud family being a black family who lives a normal nuclear lifestyle is already a pipe dream, having gay cali bullshit is borderline tolkienesque in its fantasy. which is where most of these shows are retarded, they focus on unironic politics which doesnt even make sense in these fantasy worlds and bore the kids to tears and then the adults become weird creepy porn addicts mad that disney think the franchise is a bomb. maybe yknow have kids first and then have them watch the show and buy the merch? get some perspective

anyway i find it retarded that these wokies who complain about nationalism and racism then want disney to nuke the majority of the world's population of any access to good entertainment so there can be gay sex scenes in frozen 3. it's ridiculous. disney gets no money = no representation = no jobs for art school shut-ins

at least with arthur that show's educational. i think most of these wokies despite thinking children are geniuses and their shows are deep, really just want to be praised for not being good writers. because none of these kids shows or video games have had good storytelling compared to as good as it gets for example, and that was a 90s movie. leftists need to stop regarding star wars as deep to make a tl;dr

Every cartoon has a lesbian couple these days, it’s not even a big deal anymore.
"heh, chuds. every cartoon has a lesbian couple with two thin girls with no skin blemishes, disabilities, bpd, shitty unwashed hair or nose piercings. we won" -the wokie says as a gay man gets his head cut off in saudi arabia

if the point of representation is to represent what other groups look like why are harley and ivy, catra and she-ra, korra and asami traditionally attractive whereas all the gay men are fat hags? shouldnt it be the opposite, with two fat lesbians who hate eachother, or at the very least one disgusting fat guy with a himbo husband? oh wait it's because the animators draw the girls one-handed and the boys for clout
