Scooby-Doo Live-Action Series in the Works at Netflix

A live-action Scooby-Doo series could soon be coming to Netflix, Variety has learned from sources.

The one-hour drama project is said to be nearing a deal at the streamer with a script-to-series commitment. Exact plot details are being kept under wraps aside from the fact it will be based on the Hanna-Barbera cartoon. Warner Bros. Television will produce, with the studio having recently launched the “Dead Boys Detectives” series at Netflix.

Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg serve as writers and will also executive produce along with André Nemec and Jeff Pinkner under their Midnight Radio banner. Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Leigh London Redman will executive produce via Berlanti productions (the company is currently under an overall deal at WBTV). Jonathan Gabay of Berlanti Productions and Adrienne Erickson will co-executive produce.

Reps for both Netflix and WBTV declined to comment.

Should the project go forward, it would not be the first live-action Scooby-Doo project to make it to the screen. Most famously, “Scooby-Doo” was released in 2002 and starred Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard, and Linda Cardellini, with Neil Fanning voicing Scooby. The film was a box office success, generating over $250 million worldwide. A sequel with the same cast, “Scooby-Doo: Monsters Unleashed,” came out in 2004 and grossed over $180 million. There was also the live-action TV film “Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins” and its sequel that were released in 2009 and 2010.

There have also been a wide range of Scooby-Doo animated projects over the years, beginning with the original cartoon series in the late 1960s. Various incarnations have followed over the years, spanning multiple animated series and films. Most recently, the animated film ““Scoob! Holiday Haunt” was meant to be released on Max but was scrapped in a cost-cutting move. Currently, Max airs the animated series “Velma,” with Mindy Kaling voicing the bespectacled member of the Mystery Inc. gang.

didnt they already try this some years ago? yes i know about the original 2 live action films, but they also had this other one on cartoon network. i recall them doing a show based on that?
There were two live action films on Cartoon Network in the early 2010s. One was a prequel going over how the gang met, the other was them tracking down some creature from the black lagoon thing. I just remember the films going hard on the Shaggy/Velma ship.

There was also that weird live action Daphne and Velma movie where they go to some high tech school.

And voiced by a Mexican, with the story and casting being influenced by the 2020 animated Scoob and the current series Velma
What´s with this late Scooby Doo fever?! I mean, I don´t dislike the series, I saw What´s new Scooby Doo when I was a little zoomer in CN and It´s funny but, it´s like they are exploiting the franchise like it´s the 70´s again, WTF? It´s for the saiyan shaggy meme or what??

It's a thing that's as popular as Sesame Street and SpongeBob in terms of shows people watch as kids within every generation. Also, there's one Scooby Doo meme that will be a place in my heart and that's that Coolsville sucks

Part of the Pibby pilot's storyboard is online now and yeah...

This is absolutely retarded and ridiculous, MY GOD, I can´t believe I had faith in that shit when I first saw the promo, this is only the pilot, god, IMAGINE the rest of the series
For a simple concept that is...cute cartoony character trapped in a hellish world....this guy went full retard

It makes sense to me...The sad thing is...that all the scooby media will probably had Velma quality...I hope not but...It seems like we aren´t seeing a good scooby doo series for now (At least they don´t hire the same writers of that cancelled powerpuff girls live action...I HOPE)

This isn’t new…

Scooby Doo comes in cycles where it is exploited to all hell, if one can even say it isn’t always exploited. The 2010s had two reboots (Mystery Incorporated and Be Cool), three live action films, 1-2 new direct to DVD movies a year, two video games, LEGO, and god knows whatever else I am missing. I believe there was a special on the WB lot.

90s-2000s were similar. Tons of direct to video DVDs, specials (The Scooby Project), live action versions, and reboots.

I think most people just ignore/forget that Scooby has multiple projects every year. Velma, for all its flaws, actually got attention in comparison to most of those reboots and films.

You´re right, also I forgot that horrible series (Don´t remember the name sooorry) that was aired in 2009 or something, you know, the one with only Shaggy and Scooby Doo that had a intro rip-off song of The Offspring, and like you said, Mystery Incorporated that was like two seasons or something like that, modern scooby doo deserves better, it´s a shame that Velma got all the attention, but it was also thanks to all those guys bitching endlessly about the series...and running to see all the chapters

Scobby is essentially warner/cartoon networks b team when it comes to marketing. (Their a team being looney tunes)it's honestly a wonder scooby wasn't made cartoon networks mascot as he's probably the only cartoon that transcends generations going all the way back to the literal boomers one long, far away and forgotten September 13th in 1969.

Damn, I didn't know they released that animated show based on the ARK video game. Of course it's shit and peak "current year" writing.
Here's a review:

Scooby will be a pitbull.
Video game about dinosaurs on an aisland, and the thumbnail is a random blue haired chick kissing a girl.
I refuse to touch anything related to this.

Her review is pretty good. Alterori is black and she is tired of that trend of making every black women a dyke.
It's supposed to be a show about dinosaurs but they still found a way to shove current year shit and lesbians.

She's right to be annoyed and it still confuses me as to why it's a thing. Fetish, brainwashing, idfk.

((BTW Alterori sounds familiar for some reason. Did she go by Jaylew ever? I swear I heard her voice before...)(

The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish Trailer Introduces Cosmo and Wanda’s New Godchild (Exclusive)

Timmy who? There’s only one name on Cosmo and Wanda’s minds when the first family of fairies returns to Nickelodeon in their brand-new series — and that name is Hazel Wells.

The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish relocates the colorful couple from Dimsdale to — wait for it — Dimmadelphia, where they come out of retirement to help a young girl in need. As revealed in TVLine’s exclusive trailer above, the new series also features a “reimagined” version of the original series’ Fairy World.

Premiering on Monday, May 20 at 4:30/3:30c, A New Wish introduces viewers to 10-year-old Hazel, who’s been feeling slightly adrift ever since her brother left for college and she moved to a new city with her dad. According to Nickelodeon, “all that changes when the pink-and-green-haired neighbors next door reveal that they are no ordinary neighbors… they’re Cosmo and Wanda, fairy godparents!”

The remainder of the show’s 20-episode season will roll out weekdays in that same time slot.

Ashleigh Crystal Hairston (Craig of the Creek) stars as the voice of Hazel, joined by Daran Norris and Susanne Blakeslee, who are both returning as Cosmo and Wanda.

Created by Butch Hartman, the original Fairly OddParents aired for 10 seasons on Nickelodeon from 2008 to 2017. The franchise has spawned several spinoff projects, including three live-action movies and the live-action Paramount+ series The Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder.

Produced by Nickelodeon Animation, A New Wish is co-executive produced by David Stone, Lindsay Katai, Ashleigh Crystal Hairston and Daniel Abramovici. Fred Seibert also executive-produces with Hartman. Production is overseen by Claudia Spinelli, Kelley Gardner and Neil Wade.
