Will Vinton's creations will always be honored and remembered. He was a visionary. That kindhearted sense of wonder was always so evident in his work, no matter how dark the subject matter became. I recall reading that @Galvatron is fond of him, enough to have The Mysterious Stranger has his avatar.

I'm attaching a screenshot of the announcement that his children posted on his Facebook page since I think it's a nice post. I'll miss him.

I seem to recall Tanaka specifically basing the Alliance politicians' actions off of those of LDP politicians he didn't like contemporary to the time the novels were written. That, and LoGH's overall arching theme is that similar events to the ones presented within it unfold throughout history, so yes, you are supposed to go, "Does this remind you of anything?" but to multiple events throughout history.
Thank you for claryfying that! I thought about lack of any Cold War themes in the show and did not consider that LoGH author could be inspired by not global, but Japanese politics of the time. Still, it's pretty different from what happens in some American cartoons now.

Changing topic a bit - I think I found cartoon that is combination of all most irritating modern cartoons trends:

One thing I've gotten interested in lately is animated propaganda - not just American wartime cartoons, but Soviet shorts as well.

Here is a sort of propagandistic fairy tale from Soviet Russia, made about 1958. There are unfortunately no subtitles but I think you can get the gist of what's going on anyway:

(Note that this is also a very late example of a wartime cartoon, which will become obvious when you see it...)

Blue's Clues - the animated series... Only much dumber and too busy trying to appeal to no one but Tumblr-fucks. TRULY THINGS WILL WORK OUT THIS TIME.

This news has really bummed me out. I loved Vinton's claymations as a kid, and The Adventures of Mark Twain is still one of my favorite movies of all time.

I have no doubt to say this is the most bland show I ever seen and it is not even out yet.

Has anyone here ever watched Felidae? If you liked Plauge Dogs and Watership down, you should check it out:

It’s pretty disturbing for a cartoon, I’ll put it that way.
Hooo boy, I remember when my parents got this for me and my big sister when we were little out if a VHS rental thinking "This must be a cute kid's cartoon, like The AristoCats". BOY were they wrong!

Also, that title. Boy Girl Dog Cat Mouse Cheese? That’s the worst title since Pig Goat Banana Cricket.

Good times, I'm sure! We've had similar situations in the states when it came to movies like Watership Down or even Fritz the Cat making their way to the hands of parents unaware of their content.

They don't really try anymore.

Does it really have to knock off Ms Pac-man with that ugly cheese thing? They just rotated her head like 90 degrees

The latter at least had a pretty good look, like something you would have seen in Nickelodeon Magazine back in the day.
Also the fact that PGBC too adgantage of it being a wacky cartoon in terms of its plot, setting, characters, animation, and so on. This just feels like any given CN cartoon, but with a Canadian-tier artstyle.
