Thinking back, isn't this loosely based off of one of Marvel's most dogshit comics in recent memory? I wonder if, despite everything, this show is still less awful.

Holy Hanna! the boss himself stopped by to give his two cents of this garbage? Didn't think you were much a cartoon guy boss, but hey nice seeing you round here.I once found a streaming site that had all the American television channels including Disney. I wanted to see what American television was like flipped over them, ended up seeing an episode of this playing.
Without exaggeration it is some of the most retarded animation ever produced that made it to TV. It is a non-stop assault of noise. Loud noise, screaming, yelling, stupid jokes, references to Internet memes. There was a robot in the episode I saw where the kids said, based on the robot's voice, "her", so then one interrupts to clarify they don't know if the robot is a woman, to which she says "I am non-binary". Theri intention is obviously a computer joke but it's just so obviously more fag shit in a kid's cartoon under the guise of a joke.
I think the worse thing about this show is that it has these cut-aways constantly. Like, in order to show how a character is feeling, they insert emoji versions of the character faces wither over-the-top emotional states, kind of like chat emotes. They do these in anime too.
It's like: Black Girl + Dinosaur + Comic Book style + Endless Internet references. That's the show.
Because the last time orange man was in office they did the exact opposite. If they weren't making fun of him every chance they could be it family guy's episode litteraly called trump guy or the short lived pos by colbert known as our cartoon president.Western animation deserves to go bankrupt. I hope they all stop releasing cartoons because big evil orange man is in office and not supplying children with hormones and puberty blockers.
Thank God I got to watch cartoons about suburban kids challenging a Jamaican Grim Reaper to a game of limbo for the soul of a dead hamster instead of this tranny garbage.
The original devil Dinosaur was an obscure "wait they made this?" Comic from the 70s and it was....deff a product of its cocaine and God knows what else fuelled time. The new version is indeed absolute dogshit and of course Disney fast tracked it to being a cartoon cause nobody into comics wanted to read it, and kids don't care about comics anymore.Thinking back, isn't this loosely based off of one of Marvel's most dogshit comics in recent memory? This whole "cartoon" looks like something a witless Tumblrina obsessed with vitiligo would make if you gave them a big budget.archive:

EDIT FOR PROPER CONTEXT: This episode of the Disney Channel animated series Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, fittingly titled The Gatekeeper, was reportedly canned from airing in the United States due to prominently featuring a transgender character, transgenderism being a contentious topic that allegedly helped Donald Trump win the 2024 election.
After nearly a decade and that site being a shell of what made ot so infamous how is it we still have to deal with these kind of people? You'd think they've have gone extinct by now? This whole "cartoon" looks like something a witless Tumblrina obsessed with vitiligo would make if you gave them a big budget.
“In this case, this decision was based on this specific episode, not because of the character being trans. Disney is “really proud” of Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, the company is “respectful of the role that parents play in the discussions they have with their children.”

In other news: of all things from the 90s they brought back, why in the name of ass would they resurrect this big purple oaf? There's going to be a lot more cheese archived everywhere
I know what you are, buddy!
I think big mouth did it arguably worse. That show took what is clearly a naturally born female character model and gave it a mtf backstory. It's amazing how animation either pretties up the flaws these "muties" have because they can never be what they want to be, or it makes them perfectly into what they want to be. Because if nature never intended you to look or function this way and you're actively fighting against it. At least in fantasty land the laws of reality need not apply. It's always funny watching shows try to depict tranny characters in animation, because you can picture the thought process of "how do we distinguish this character as a tranny, rather than a real woman, without just making them a man in a dress?" In this case, Disney went for the tried and true "just draw a flat-chested woman, and get some tranny to voice it"
It's the same cognitive dissonance that non-animated trannies have to cope with. They want to be women, but if you're just a woman, you're not special, and Lord forbid a tranny can't be the most precious and special individual in the whole wide world. So they call themselves brave and strong trans women. But hold on, if you have to have that prefix, does that make you... less of a woman?
It's amusing how thoroughly incompatible transgenderism is with reality in every conceivable aspect
What it boils down to is that it's artificial. That and fetishism. I'm not into cartoons or comics, so I looked up Moon Girl was and it didn't surprise me the series was created by team of people who were not black but wanted to create a series where black characters are front and center. I understand there's not one set of people so expect a diverse cast of characters, but this just feels like a company hired inconfident lefties to make a show. Gross. It's always funny watching shows try to depict tranny characters in animation, because you can picture the thought process of "how do we distinguish this character as a tranny, rather than a real woman, without just making them a man in a dress?" Oh, I absolutely agree with that. I skim-watched the leaked cartoon, and it's literally the most generic plot one could think of involving a tranny: "She's a trans girl, and she plays on the girl sports team, but this evil Karen thinks that's unfair!"What it boils down to is that it's artificial. That and fetishism.
That trope really should have died after ppg threw so much shade at it in the episode meant to parody drug psas but nope, it evolved and found a new way to infest in things. This is like the modern day equivalent of those 90s cartoons that would include a diverse cast of kid characters, except it's being written by people who want diddle children and chop their junk off. (Also there's no token in a wheelchair this time)
Been reading about this on Twitter today and Matt Braly brought up how it somehow made it past S+P before being blocked. I can't think of many examples of that in animation, it's usually much earlier.
Yep, they've got lots of anime motifs like the snoring bubble, the flash of light when there's a strike in between, and the big monster being defeated by the small human. It's combining the worst of Western animation with the worst of anime, all out of pure laziness.@Vyse Inglebard am I imagining things or does this incorporate techniques long used by anime to reduce the number of frames they need to animate?
Quality is only at 480p sadly, but does anybody remember when Disney movies were actually beautiful? An artistic treat? I could go on for hours about the detail and love poured into each scene, every wrinkle of cloth, the gentle way everybody moves, the beautiful use of color. I could go on on and on and on.archive:

Western animators like anime (for some definition of like, anyway), but they never understand what makes anime good.Yep, they've got lots of anime motifs like the snoring bubble, the flash of light when there's a strike in between, and the big monster being defeated by the small human.
