OTOH that would send a message that elements have genders.

The wiccans already got you on that. The traditional elements have associated genders that flip flop based on which culture you go with. Fire and air are usually masculine, while Earth and water are usually feminine. It actually lines up with the avatar list for the last 3 avatars; Korra was a female waterbender, Aang was a male airbender, and Roku was a male firebender. However, Avatar Yangchen before Roku was a female airbender, so it's not a perfectly male/female gendered elemental system. If they started doing that it'd be a new thing in the world of Avatar.

but honestly they need to stop fucking with Avatar, Korra was already super mid and the movie was dogshit. They made an incredible show and should've just ended it there.

I just saw the first episode and thought it was pretty boring, it also didn't help how the protagonists worked and behaved due to the fact they are reincarnations of past lives, being specially awful considering how the blue archer guy loves the dark magician witch but she already had a fiancé and was marrying the guy when the robot crashed the wedding and forced her to have powers.

• character assassinated legacy characters
• got rid of the unique feel of the series
• unlikable main character who masters a martial art way too quickly
• themes are barely explored but fans still praise them for their themes anyway

• dumbed down the magic system to be easily mastered and performed
