Couldn't they just have said that the entirety of Korra never happened, apologized for fumbling the ball badly (to be fair didn’t Nick keep jerking them around with how many seasons they got?) and just say we will do better this time

No, they can't. Even if they wanted to.

You are forgetting that Korra was made a lesbian at the last second as a shield. That makes her immune to any attempt to get rid of her. I wish I was joking or being ironic, but I am not. They made her a lesbian not for "representation" but as an attempt to save their failing sequel. I will put it like this: Would you like to be the executive that orders her, the first openly lesbian main character on Nickelodeon, to be retconned away? I know the average Kiwi would do it in a heartbeat. I myself would like to pretend Korra never happened, but it would be career suicide for any Nickelodeon executive due to negative publicity and countless articles about "LGBT erasure," along with the mainstream media busting your balls.

Not to mention, the creators and voice actors would smell blood in the water and speak against her being removed to virtue signal. It would be a publicity nightmare. It's a shame because Avatar truly had the potential to be a billion-dollar franchise, but it has proven to be a one-hit wonder so far. In my humble opinion, it was patient zero in Western animation of the woke outbreak, and using "representation" to excuse bad writting.

They're coping on Twitter that somebody framed her, but based on her competence in her own series, I'm not really hard pressed to believe Korra just fucked it up THAT bad.
I highly doubt the showrunners will make Korra the actual culprit for the world going to shit (at least intentionally) considering they were the ones who thought opening the portals and letting spirits murder humans was a good idea because they desperately wanted to air their open borders good message, and making Korra evil would go against that (even if everything going forward shows it was terrible)

When your main character is just the worst is there really any shame in Thanos Snapping it into oblivion? At the very least some mea culpa will at least make some people willing to give it a shot. Granted leaked material already tells me this will likely suck beyond belief, but still.
'Course not.
When was the last time anybody's looked at a whole series, owned up to its poor quality, and went "Yeah, that was shit, don't worry, none of it's canon anymore."?

The duo behind Kinnikuman is the one that comes to mind, but there are probably other examples. Kinnukman Nisei is now separate and they went back and made a different sequel where that sequel isn't canon.

Do you want my signature on that executive order in ink or blood? (MNGA, make nickelodeon great again!)

Tell that to Disney, they pulled that trans episode of moon girl, cut a trans baseball player from the upcoming pixar show and SEEM to be trying to wrangle anyone working for them to tone down or not put anymore gender/gay spergatry in their shows anymore, but it's at best lip service to try and win back the people who left in droves who'd actually pay money for their products.

Frankly I think it's because the avatar show rummers went "full retard" and refuse to admit korra was a bad show because it was a Nickelodeon show with a badass girl hero, who even became nick animations first (openly) gay character.

They tried hiding behind every shield they could to avoid people saying their show was a failed follow up to last Airbender. Even playing the gay card at the literal eleventh hour and had korra ran into the later 2010s early 2020 they probably would have played the trans representation card too.

Like I said earlier, I have no doubt that any true fan or dedicated kiwi would jump at the chance to do it. Honestly, I’d sign up for it myself if I could too. But the reality is, anyone who actually has the ability to make it happen probably won’t take the risk—it’ would be very hard for it not to backfire to be honest. You got all mainstream media to worry for one. Which you can't ignore if you are a big company.

Yes, but there's a big difference. Disney did those things before it was a done deal. Nobody is attached to elements that aren't in the final product. If anything, that's what Nickelodeon should've done years ago. But Korra is a done deal, so the damage is already done. It's harder to get rid of what is than what it could've been.

If they ever get that Alien movie off of the ground that stars Sigourney Weaver and retcons Alien 3, then that will be a prime example of that.

cancelled Disney film Wild Life
The video's description has a link to a Drawing for Nothing article that's pretty informative.
I like the premise, shame it didn't get finished. A narcissistic club diva abandoning a life of hedonism to become a mother had storytelling potential.

Reminds me of a canned 2014 Dreamworks movie called Me And My Shadow, it'd have combined 3D and 2D together in an interesting way but all that's left is unfinished clips.

In fact, Drawing For Nothing starts off with this movie. The sheer volume of artworks and animation clips is astounding, I can't get enough of it. I highly recommend everyone to check this website out from start to finish.

Debated on wether to mention this here or in the comic sperg thread but....

For all the shit bean mouth or cash grab shows darny is putting out. (Moon girl spider-man ect) why haven't they adapted skottie Young/jake parker's rocket raccoon? I've recently re read thir run on RR's solo book and I gotta admit the art style already looks like a cartoon (but not beanmouth thank gawd) and it would make for a great show if adapted by skottie himself.

(Can't find much about the guy aside he's been in the comics biz for 25 years and the most notorious thing about him is working with Neil "I have no safe word" gaiman)

But then again they probably won't even ask young to contribute beyond a throwaway "executive producer" credit and probably butcher it to hell and back.

That or it's the case similar to Velma. The network wanted a new take on a classic ip, they had a perfectly good version to use for that already in place, (scooby apocalypse which I mentioned back when the Velma hate was still fresh) but instead gave control over to a total hack more interested in using a creative endeavor as a mouth piece for the "woke shit" we complain about here.

Edit: ok I was half wrong there is apparently a rocket and groot show LOOSLEY based on skottie Young's work and it looks like it's trying to turn Youngs art into 3D...at least it's not bean mouth. It's not as bad as it could have been.

And i can't embed am episode cause they're all official Disney uploads. And blocked from being viewed on other platforms.

Apparently Korra fans are coping hard, insisting that it’s actually a good series and you’re all just mean. Then there’s this…
IMG_8537.jpeg
Along with others claiming that Aang made the war last as long as it did because he ran away. Because you know, he was an inexperienced twelve year old. Who probably would have died along with the rest of the Air Nomads otherwise. It’s like they didn’t even watch the actual shows.

The last airbender really was lighting in a bottle. After the creators failed hard with Korra, everyone was quick to credit the guy that made The Dragon Prince as the true genius. And that flopped too. Definitely it never reached Avatar’s heights at least.

Seems like the truth was more boring. Instead of a single “genius“ creator, it was more of a collaborative effort with all of them giving ideas and keeping each other in check. But once egos were on the table due to their success, everything went downhill

There are rarely singular geniuses. All most all great entertainment is highly collaborative with multiple talented individuals bringing their contribution into a product and there is also a boring editor type that wacks down the more retarded impulses from the creative types.

Saw Mad God, it's good. The plot isn't groundbreaking, but holy shit, this movie looks amazing and I love this gritty atmosphere. I would recommend you to see it just for the visuals themselves. It's made by Phil Tippett aka the same guy behind the stop motion from og Star Wars (AT-AT for example).
I like that Mad God was actually finished and received widespread fanfare for being what it was, which is a feat that other animated passion projects like Thief and the Cobbler never managed to reach.
That being said, the movie is painfully slow to sit through. I feel like it would be snappier if Phil Tippet was willing to cut out some of the more meandering shots. Like we get the part where something actually happens in the hospital, and then they look at a tv so that they can show us yet more of the assassin wandering around a barren landscape. If this was live action people would say it was pointless and boring.
Did you forget that a decent amount of users on this site think the same thing and hate miscegenation including Null?
That's what bugs me about this thread sometimes, anything resembling a minority in a cartoon is suddenly a new and troubling phenomenon that MUST mean the west is dying.

The strongest part of Mad God were the visuals and the film wasn't long so I didn't have that much of a problem with the long lingering shots.
