I genuinely can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not.
To those putting Orwell on a pedestal. The man was not exactly a venture capitalist himself. He openly identified as socialist and even was a firm beliver in "real socialism hasn't been tried yet."

That being said...this is still another example of Seth Rogan preaching "capitalism bad!" Despite being a Hollywood jew who made his 6 figure netwoth playing the fatass stoner in Steve Carell comedies. He tried the same shit with sausage party food topia and it was failure there too.

Edit: and yes in later life he may have driven away from the socialism to focus more on being the novelist the brits saw him as.

The thing is you still see praise for the working class socialism according to marx. Even jf he also pitied them for being "proud but ignorant". As seen with boxer the cart horse in animal farm or the paroles in 1984.

Yes, but he knew the specifics of USSR socialism and exactly why it didn't work, and every character in Animal Farm specifically represents an actual failing of the political philosophy.

Turning it into some commie anthem is repulsive, spits on history, and anyone who participated in this abomination should be given a nice healthy dose of Zyklon B.

People here forget that Marxist Socialism wasn't the only one that existed, as there was other ideas of socialism. I won't sperg, this is not the thread for it. Perhaps he wisened up and followed that route instead, after the failure in Spain. Or maybe not, he saw Stalin as being a "Red Fascist"/Tankist, who knows.

But who would have guessed, that Tranimal Farm would be a shitty adaptation to the original.

I don't have to agree with Orwell about everything to agree with him that Communism sucks balls.

In a time where a lot of true believers lied to themselves and the rest of the world about what was going on (Walter Duranty your name should don an award of journalistic shame), Orwell at least was doing his part to try and get the word out.

Why are they turning a anti communist story into a anti capitalist one? What was the point in even adopting animal farm to begin with?
They’re uncreative hacks that can’t actually create things of their own to really push there ideas, because every time they try they come off as either morally bankrupt, sociopathic, foster degeneracy, and most of the time the works themselves are just bad. Their only choice is to cannibalize and twist better works to suit their needs. It also doesn’t help that Studios like doing that, as it’s “safer”. The original Capitalism bad film is almost sure to bomb, an adaptation of a book that most middle and high school kids have to read? You might have something that turns a profit.

As for Animal Farm specifically, it’s a famous novel that at the end of the day, despite Orwell’s political leanings, says that Socialism/Marxism/Communism bad. They (Rogen and people like him) all believe that if they try it, they will get it right (They won’t, reality wins in the end or maybe they think they’ll be the ones in power and that’s actually all they want) and so they need to turn it into Capitalism bad, because that’s all they got.

The idea of a system that transcends government and limitations is inherently flawed as it has no basis in objective reality.

All the Commie focus on eliminating objectivity, critical thought, and reason is because their ridiculous fucking nonsense is impossible if you think rationally and somehow eliminating rational thinking will change this, ignoring how utterly insane that is.

And again here's Seth rogans est net worth.

80 million dollars....may I ask why this man believes he has the high ground to make a pro communist/pro socialist movie when his net worth could buy a mansion in Cali, a vacation home in hawai and all he has to do is make unfunny stoner comedies and crappy animated movies.

So much for the communist, "redistribution of wealth."

Anytime I hear anyone say or hint "communists weren't that bad" I want to rub their face in the Pitești Prison experiment.
I'm not here to derail the thread, so I'll keep this one-post-short.

Since we are on the topic of war crimes let me share with you another rather bloody tragedy.

Read about Jeju Uprising, or rather Jeju Massacre, it has a memorial built for it on the island. Despite the claims by the capitalist South Korea at the time, most of the victims were not communists but the locals who were tortured by the radical right youths from whom the squads sent to the island consisted. The descriptions of what these men did to women and children are too sickening to read about. They were given a full green light to do anything, just to dispose of the couple of partisan groups hidden in the forests. And once the communists were forced to give up just to stop the bloodshed, they were all executed on sight. For decades after the fact, South Korean government pretended like this never happened and silenced any island resident if they tried to speak up about it.
Only recently they were allowed to make a memorial, and, rather comically, it is now a "dark tour" tourist trap, quite fitting for the capitalist outlook on things.

We can spend pages upon pages listing what horrors both commies and capitalists did, where they fucked up hard in economics and so on. Lots of bullshit and hidden half-truths in everything.

I'm aware that I'm in a minority here, but to me it's pretty useless to claim someone as the true villain in the Cold War. Both parties were Napoleon in their own right and eradicated any wrong thinking just to keep their seat once they got it. Painted the other as the war-hungry, blood-spilling mongrel while sweeping under the rug piles of bodies themselves. That's politics for ya, buddy.

It's just that now one is dead and irrelevant, and the other is alive and still poking the first's rotting corpse to elevate the attention from his continuous misdeeds.

We have to live with what we have now, and I am not complaining about the outcome, but it's quite naive to fall for the good Vs evil rethorics that authors like Orwell operated with in their time under the guide of their political overlords. It doesn't make you any different from the democrats who whine about da evil orange man and what kind of awful things only he had totally done and no one else.

Which is why I think choosing Seth Rogan as Orwell's substitute is a good match, since they are both hyperbolic caricaturists who play around with safe politics. America has a new worry that is Trump, so that's why he is in the new political fairy tale adaptation. It's funny to read posts from people who are seriously under impression that Seth wants to do some sort of genuine pro-commie message when he was always making fun of communist regime before.

Yup, that's it, I think. I'm not going to ruin anyone's fun any further here, but if you would like to continue the discussion, we can take it to dms.

Exactly part of the problem is that you think "communism sucks" is "claiming someone is the true villain of the cold war."

Here let me tap the sign:

Nobody believes communism is dead and irrelevant as long as the CCP, Cuba, Vietnam, etc etc continue on. Much less the regular crop of idiots who keep advocating for communism seriously. (Hasan, Vaush, most of the media...)

What I was objecting was your use of "bogeyman" to describe communism. Which let's check the dictionary...
a monstrous imaginary figure used in threatening children
Yeah, I take issue with the idea that communism's dangers or evils were somehow imaginary.

That's not excusing or defending anything about the West or saying somehow it's perfect. It's pointing out there was nothing imaginary about all the shit communists have done and continue to do.

Trannies tried to use that meme on me once while complaining about de-transitioners, it was cringe and gay.

Since Animal Farm and communism are partially connected to the topic of Cold War, I brought it up. What I was trying to say that your previous example that you like to rub in other people's face is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. When everyone does such horrid shit, it's the norm. The norm for war times. There was no other way about it, which is why both sides did what they did. It's hypocritical to claim one as evil when the truth is far more complex than a red scare story from 40s.

Communism had a lot of faults but what Orwell wrote was extremely hyberbolised and spiced up with bullshit to get his flat morals across. You can say the same about Trump's misdeeds too, which is why he is the new villain of the current year propoganda piece. Yet again I notice you using the concepts good VS evil here, which yet again proves that you are not as different from Seth Rogan in your thinking.

Bro, are you trolling?

And now I’m wondering which parts are “extremely hyperbolized”. Is it the overwork for meager gain? The sheer inequality? The mass executions? If it’s the last one, boy do I have some things to say about that! Personally every time I think of communism I think about the mass deaths in every single regime, including how the Khmer Rouge had a tree that was warped from how many babies and children were smashed against it.

literally everything you've described if not more. Again, I am not here to derail the funny cartoon thread, so calm your burning asshole.

Hey guys....

So, I never did watch Arthur. Never even once.

I do sometimes watch youtube videos about it, like the ones by PeanutButterGamer.

And every time I do, I ask myself "what are all the breaks in the line-art about?"

Seriously, look at the outline of Arthur's face, or how the lines separating his sleeves from his shirt. Also very noticable in the walls in the background.

Some shows are just like this, but for some reason I feel like with Arthur its particularly noticable. And at first I thought it was just a result of digital remastering, but its still happening in the final episode (which was animated on PCs to begin with) so I guess its a stylistic thing?

Dunno, call it one of those autistic things I happened to notice about a show I don't even watch, but I'd love to know if anyone ever heard anything about why this happened.

I'm sure they were keeping close to the look of the original book illustrations.

“We have the real world, we have the Seuss’ world, which is where the Cat comes from, and the boxes’ world,” said co-director Alessandro Carloni of the feature. The latter has a very simple explanation: Gabby and Sebastian’s family has just moved into a new home.
“We chose to introduce our characters through the content of their boxes,” said Carloni. Left on the floor, they will allow the Cat to take the kids on crazy adventures after turning their old couch into a magical transportation device. “Parents know that all the kids need is a couch and a bunch of boxes,” joked Erica Rivinoja, co-director and writer.

Sebastian’s box is all about the ocean, and his desire to reconnect with his older sister who’s not playing with him anymore. But this underwater universe will feel “handmade and not mass-produced: as if it was created by one wildly imaginative kid. A world of plenty from nothing but imagination,” assured production designer Aidan Sugano. Gabby’s box reflects her past as a “band nerd” and what she’s currently going through – she desperately wants to go back to her old school and old life.

Art director Amos Sussigan explained: “Emotionally, it lives between Sebastian’s playful chaos and full-blown existential dread – which is what I’m feeling right now. She’s romanticizing the past. It’s not your typical reference for animation, but I was looking at ‘Euphoria,’ which is a bit extra and bold, and that’s what we tried to do with Gabby’s world.” “It becomes this wonderful journey into her old life. She gets to re-experience it – not how it really was but as she remembered it. She sees everything through the eyes of nostalgia, which obviously clouds things. Even her modest home becomes a castle,” said Rivinoja. “And then we have mum’s box. She’s an overwhelmed yet tireless nurse. She has all the things us adults love: tax forms, insurance documents, paperwork. Her children think it’s all she cares about.”
THE KIDS ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO HAVE INNER LIVES, YOU DUMB FUCKS. THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE A STAND-IN FOR THE CHILD AUDIENCE. AND OF FUCKING COURSE "MUH ADULTING IS SO HARD". NEWS FLASH RETARDS, WHAT YOU'RE DOING HAS ALREADY BEEN DONE BEFORE -
