Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

I want to be optimistic, yet after the total slog that was watching Disenchantment… I can’t.
Didn't Futurama already have a revival once? Wasn't that revival not as good as the earlier seasons?

This isn't surprising considering Futurama is owned by Fox, which is owned by Disney, which will milk every IP it owns dry for all eternity.
It’s a mixed bag. A few of the episodes were up there with the best of the originals, especially the finale, yet some were just awful. Despite that, its finale was a perfect way to permanently send off the franchise, so the revival is going to have to to either actively ignore it or otherwise involve Fry and Leela actually together and married, which seems like too much character development for this kind of thing.

Pretty sure it had two. And yeah, it goes without saying that the writing quality declined. No doubt it will again.

I'm relived that the boondocks reboot got cancelled. It wouldn’t have been the same without John Witherpsoon. The Boondocks is a masterpiece that shouldn't be reckoned with. The fourth season wasn't that great, we don't need a reboot. I'm fine with watching the 50 something episodes we already have of the original series.

Animaniacs Reboot 2: Electric Wokealoo This video pretty much sums up my thoughts:
I watched the new season of Disenchantment and it was painful. Near the end of the season they were doing lines over the internet/phone because of Rona and you can tell.

How could you tell?

I find it weird that the narrator on Word Girl is the same guy who voices Jerry on Rick and Morty.

What's even weirder is that the narrator on Curious George is the same guy who plays Frank on Shameless:
I will always know Chris Parnell as Cyril Figgis and Fred Shay.

Wordgirl, both in writing and cast, was stacked:
Tom Kenny as Dr. Two Brains, with a proto Ice King, is the clear standout.
Cast regulars: Fred Stroller, Patton Oswalt, Grey Griffin and the disgraced Jeffrey Tambor.
Notable one episode cameos I could recognize by name only: Daran Norris, Kristen Schaal, Carlos Alazraqui, Cree Summer, Brendon Small, Ed Asner and Weird Al Yankovic.

I remember watching Word Girl around 2009. I remember watching it a lot but I don’t remember any specific episodes. I remember the monkey, wordgirl herself and her family, the professor with two brains that was voiced by Tom Kenny, the butcher, and the sandwich guy who always carried a pack of mustard.

I watched Cyberchase a lot as a kid in the mid/late 00s. The only specific episode I remember was when they went inside Hacker’s body to fix his back. I also remember it switching from traditional animation to flash and hating to new look. Even as a kid I noticed.

Word Girl was one of the more intelligent kid’s shows. They actually treated their audience like they had functioning brains. That’s what was better about PBS as opposed to Nick Jr. or playhouse Disney. Fetch with Ruffruffman was another show that treated their audience like they had sense instead of treating them like brain dead retards. Word Girl was the last show on PBS that didn’t talk to their audience like they were slow. Calliou that bald bastard was the only show on PBS kids that I hated. I liked everything else on there as a kid, Curious George and Arthur were some of my favorites.

Speaking of Clone High. Who do you guys think will be up in terms of dead people being cloned for the reboot?

Not sure. But high school has changed a lot since the show was originally airing. My guess is that they'll be frozen for 20 years. I don't think they'll make covid canon. Not many shows do the pandemic in universe.

For the last 20 years they've been frozen, there is a goldmine on famous people they could clone for.

I watched the new episode of South park last night(recorded it). You might as well kill off Randy now since not only did the episode suck but he's a fucking idiot. He may have taught someone else how weed works, but he thinks its stealing just for starting a pot farm?
