Tbh, the thing with angst and weird relationships in women's writing has always been persistent.

After watching the new Chip n' Dale Rescue Rangers my hatred for the modern animation industry was cemented. I fucking hate this trend of fake 2D animation using a crappy 3D model with a cel shader/ toon shader switched on. The models look broken. It looks horrible. It's ugly. It's disgusting... I think I hate it more than tween animation. The fact that it was Disney doing this miffs me even more, you were the staple of 2D animation, why betray it like this? You have the gigabux to bring real 2D animation back. What the fuck?!

Hey now some of the literature was legit, good and worth reading; War and peace, all quiet on the western front, most of the works of hg wells like the invisible man, the time machine, war of the worlds. those were classic works of literature written when authors put the story telling and character first. Not to mention many Great American authors like Jack London, Earnest Hemingway, Hellen Keller, Sure there was also Marxist, socialist, anarchist, pro transgender, and proto sexual revolution works and tons of crap that DID deserve the fire, but there's a HUGE difference between the good stuff I mentioned before and works like Santa's husband, I am Jazz, Am I blue, love makes a family its ok to be a unicorn ect ect.

But enough about the debate over the value of one generation's work of literature over another, this is for western animation.

"Fake 2D" can work if done right. They're fighting games, but Guilty Gear and Dragon Ball FighterZ did the whole "fake 2D" thing better. The animators treated each frame as if they were doing traditional frame-by-frame animation. This video explains the process pretty well.

That being said, I agree with you on the Chip n' Dale movie's animation feeling off. They could've easily funded actual 2D animation and put it over live action like Who Framed Roger Rabbit, but they didn't. It feels like Disney - or the west as a whole - just doesn't want to touch 2D animation anymore.
