Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

The second one was more unpleasant. Velma is tasked with making the hottest girls ugly so the serial killer won't murder them. She also makes Fred read the Feminine Mystique, which literally fries his brain and makes him like smart girls instead of hot ones. Velma teaches the girls about hairy pits feminism, they decide they don't like it because they'd rather be attractive. Episode tries to say that both vapid sluts and annoying feminists are equally valid, but also ends with Velma getting a nude from Fred, turning his date proposal down, and then keeping the nude for later masturbatory use. I'm starting to root for Fred honestly, if only because of how much the show mistreats him.
I skimmed through that episode.

Someone needs to tell ugly girls that trying to make pretty girls look unattractive will not make them look better. It just makes them look worse.

If the show is trying to make Velma intentionally unlikable they are really shooting themselves in the foot. There is a line.
Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if that was Mindy’s goal.

I’ve mainly seen it compared to the Velma scenes just to shit on the show more.
True but the stuff in Velma was more of a deliberately innacurate hallucinations crisis and a cheap way to have a romantic moment between Velma and daphne. And in general I'm just tired of adult animation fans creaming themselves whenever something from a mainstream animated movie isn't baby tier instead of normalizing as what should be the standard for cinematic animation.
Aside from that, I now have complete faith that dreamworks will hold American animation to a new standard and disney/pixar better kick themselves in the ass if they want to keep up.

I’m not saying it’s anything super amazing or anything, just that no one deserves to animate this garner writing.

I have been getting recommendations for vids based on Bluey recently, and I have to say, if Bluey doesn’t breed the next brony community, I will honestly be shocked. We have already hit the bullying arc.

I will give bronies this, at least they are entertaining in their autism, the Bluey community just makes me concerned and depressed at the state of western animation fans.

It's a cute show won't lie. My little cousin loves it and is age demographic for it.
As long as I don't see anything deserving from this Fandom I'm fine with it.

And at least I could sorta understand the appeal of MLP, at least at first. I'm not sure about this thing.

The show is fine, and really MLP was too.

I follow a bit of the MLP fandom thanks to ShellyD and many of the early 2010s animation critics on YT, and I just see all the signs where this fandom could go wrong. Past the justifying watching a kids show, I have seen people describe Bluey as being a near religious experience. Hell there was a YT comment declaring that the show will end generational trauma. I have a feeling that this show is slowly gearing up to take MLP’s place since it even took a bit for MLP to get the reputation it has now. I give it a year as I am curious to the legacy of this series.

Late 2023 timeframe. Animation's different probably due to a new studio handling it, hopefully because it's just for this teaser and not for season 2 but given how animations change from season to season for shows I have my doubts.

I've already expressed my concerns over Invincible season 2 earlier in this thread so we'll see how right or wrong I was in expressing concern for the show.
