Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

In fairness, anime is literally just cartoons from another country. Just because it has a distinct name doesn't mean it's not a cartoon anymore.
That's true, but thing is if I'm even looking up obscure or underrated 1980s cartoons--or 1980s/1990s cartoons at all--its likely for the dual reason of wanting to indulge childhood nostalgia and possibly also find out about some things I might've seen as a wee nipper if the fates had aligned that way.

So listing some anime that technically is from the 1980s but didn't come to the USA until 20XX or thereabouts completely defeats the purpose.

I don't even watch The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and this already got me in tears, the heck.

It's also maybe because the YouTube search algorithm sucks major dong.

Oh, and the white girl apologizes to her friends for dating the black guy. Friends do not apologize for talking about her the way they did, only that they didn’t invite her to the party.

Said black guy does not even have a voiced line, she breaks up with him offscreen, and woke girl calls him “Kanye” as an insult.
You know what's really ironic about that? The friend is a "fellow white".

This was too funny to not cross-post here.

Honestly just seems like they're desperate to distance themselves from Roiland and pretend he barely had any input for ages. Who are people going to believe now after all? It's also a good cope for the typical redditor fans so they can keep supporting the show without making it seem like they're supporting him.

I think for a bunch of them then it mighe be too little too late to distance themselves from Roiland.

Back to that episode of the Proud Family, Candace Owens posted a interesting vlog about the part where the writers of that episode doesn't want you to know.
She makes a good point that most people ignore slave owners never fought in the civil war. It was men who were dirt poor fighting well the slave owners just stayed at their mansions where the fighting was going on.

Post-Soviet Russian Animation

Succeeding this thread here.

Winter Days (2003)

Famous animators Aleksandr Petrov and Yuri Norstein both collaborated with the Japanese in the animated anthology film Winter Days based on traditional Japanese lifestyles. Petrov also collaborated with the Japanese in creating My Love (2006).

Basho, by Yuri Norstein

Melnitsa Animation - Continuing the Tradition of Folktales in 2D

Russian animation studio Melnitsa released a lot of animated films for free to watch on YouTube for our viewing pleasure, but unfortunately, they don't include English subs and you can only watch it on YouTube due to copyright.

Little Longnose (2003) (with English sub)

Dobrynya Nikitich and Zmey Gorynych (2006) (with English sub)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QUd7knKk02E (only available on Melnitsa's official channel)

The Tale of Fedot the Strelets (2008 ) (no English sub)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KF0B5PeFRgU (only available on CTB)

Prince Ivan and the Grey Wolf (2011) (with English sub)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6LOv5A-leWU (only available on Melnitsa's official channel)

Some of their shorts done by one of their animators Konstantin Bronzit

Lavatory - Love Story (2007)

We Can't Live Without Cosmos (2015) - nominated for Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film at the 88th Academy Awards

Krepost/Fortress (2015) (no English sub)

Krepost would be Melnitsa's final creative endeavor as it ended up becoming a box office failure. Focusing on the Polish-Lithuanian siege of Smolensk, the film would be a tad bit more violent and mature. However, its failure indicated to the Russian animation industry to only direct animated films towards children, and Melnitsa has been creatively stagnant since, putting out numerous sequels to its folktale stories to stay afloat.

Yuri Kalakov - Historical fantasy epics

Animated Epics: Beowulf (1998 ) (English)

Prince Vladimir (2006) (English sub)

More violent than any children's film, with people actually dying in battle scenes.

The Tale of Peter and Fevronia (2017) (Only Russian)
