soooo does puppetry count as western animation? Cause we have some great examples of that, beyond Jim Henson's work that was Peter Jackson's meet the feebles.

and then the not so great stuff like nickelodeon's Mr. Meaty.

I didn't know where else to bring these up. We don't have a "puppets and puppetry appreciation" thread as far as i know.

had a feeling they'd pull this shit; i'm not surprised. i feel vindicated in not watching this dogshit
There's more too...

I enjoyed Mr Meaty. I feel like the show is imbedded in my mind given how fucking terrifying it is for a child to watch.

Fun Fact: There is concept art out there which depicts Mr Meaty’s Parker Dinkleman hooked up to Irken technology from Invader Zim, sucking up fairies from the Fairly Odd Parents. Gotta love old NickToons games.

oh i know i said "not so great:" but i meant in a more objective way. Mr. Meaty is a freaky as hell reminder of just how weird nick got in the day. Really puppetry in general looks..freaky even the man himself Jim Henson could only do so much with them. but even with the best effects and puupeters behind the controls you gonna have this uncanny look to them.

Disney's Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur cartoon that came out recently.
Can we just agree Marvel/Disney are fucking dead at this point? I mean Ultimate Spiderman and most of the Disney xD marvel shows were flawed at best, stupid and insipid at worst, but this?...This is making ultimate Spiderman look like the fuckin 90s Spiderman in comparison. I am dead fucking serious. :cryblood:

Cartoon Network's lineup of new shows for 2023 is finally here, including a sneak peak of the new Powerpuff Girls reboot directed by series creator Craig McCracken.

Really tired of franchises, sequels, reboots, and remakes dominating the entertainment sphere. I don't even care if they have the OG creators, staff, buildings, or animation cells just give me new shit! That being said I will give fionna&cake and the new ppg a glance.

Tho the youtuber fangirling about how we get to see PPG with Lore™, Serialization™ and Over-arcing Story™ does not fill me with joy. Like not every cartoon needs to be gravity falls and have an MC with trauma.

Will def check out Unicorn, fight girl, and ivandoe as they look the most promising.

Honestly, style wise this show looks great, but they're overcompensating with all this gay signage everywhere.

I feel like if I were a gay person watching this I would just start going "okay, I get it" after a while. Like you can do this shit and not be obnoxious about it.

I hate that when these shows make these characters, they have to make this their ENTIRE character. They never have any other imagery or activity associated with them.

I long for Total Hollypedowood Death to be in unreal tournament 1999.
The animated movie was perfect, no need to ruin it you creative blackhole disgusting hacks!
Wowee remakes, reboots, remakes, reboots, originals with pandering garbage, originals that nobody will watch and more fucking reboots! What a great animation industry you have, north America:heart-empty:

Then there's a bunch of shorts all about Baymax I believe that I've not seen but hear I am not missing out.
There's a scene where a troon helps Baymax picks lady pads, fagflag shirt and all so it's really in your face.

Also since we're on the topic of reboots and remakes, I find it kinda weird how Disney hasn't opted to do a remake of Toy Story 1 yet. It was the first feature-length CGI film back in '95, and as such, it's visuals has not aged well in the slightest. If they were really strapped for cash and didn't want to put any brainpower into creating something new of substance, why not put in the effort on remaking the film whose medium practically helped dominate the use of CG in films today?
