Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

It's funny because apparently almost all reviews for that studio recommends working there.
Yeah, all the big studios seem to be recommended besides Warner. Cartoon Network was mostly rated good outside the usual low pay/cruch that all of them have and Nickelodeon was not too dissimilar.

The system is being autistic (and im a mobile fag) and I can't quote the people I want to directly but let me just say that, I loved the retro ascetic angry beavers went for. It had a lot of homages to 50s sci-fi with the movies the brothers liked to watch, not to mention the Halloween special which was one big love letter to bad 50s b movies. and even if the nostalgia machine was just doing its thing at least it gave us classic episodes that are loving tributes to the past that we got.

Elemental: has one of the worst opening weekends all summer only rivaled by the flash. Takes a month to cross the 300 million mark while still costing 200 million not including market costs. Expected to only finish with like 420 million total. ??? profit. Yeah take your small victories where tou can get them Disney they're all you have left. But if I may be so bold as to say: I would only agree that a symbolic image of money is about as nourishing to a starving beggar as a photo of oxygen is to a drowning man.

nope, we probably aren't
The one I was looking at released before indy, to be fair, so it's probably been bumped down a few spaces
Side note: the Mario movie only made half a million dollars and it's the highest-grossing by a damn mile? I mean- it's Illumination, so I should've expected as much, but I guess I just thought its visuals would've impacted profits considering it's obviously where most of the money and manpower went during production

Illumination, despite the quality of each movie, is only successful because of marketing, and Chris Melandari (the head of it) has been more into marketing. This being a cheap studio that is into marketing is pretty much the same as older animated companies like Terrytoons or Hanna-Barbera back in their respective heyday, though this might come across as unfair, as the latter two still had memorable characters.

A tactic he most likey borrowed from his days at Blue sky no doubt. Look I know everyone's been mourning the loss of blue sky and seeing its closure by Disney as a sign they've become the very parody South park made them put to be. But reality is a harsh mistress gentlemen.Out if all of blue sky's repertoire only Rio ever got a sequel and not a very good one. Really it's a pattern that goes back to fay one. They release ice age in 2002 its a hit and a box office success 3 years they release robots not as successful but it still did well but along comes ice age 2 a year later and boom! It does even better than the first. The cone Horton does a little better but that coukd he because it was the first dr Seuss movie since cat in the hat.

It goes on like this till year after year the ice age movies make bank movies that aren't I've age do fine but they don't bring in the numbers ice age does....which is probably why blue sky kept making them.

Illumination is arguably worse since not only have they milked the despicable me movies to no end maybe worse than blue sky ever did with ice age they gave the yellow nuances the minions their own spinoffs as well. At least blue sky tried something new in between the ice age sequels. And look I don't hate either blue sky or illumination. I'll take sing 2 or even minions 3 over strange world or elemental any day, even if it is a sorta pick your least painful poison scenario.

Well since we're justifying the "bitch about wokeshit tag line anyway.

Interesting scene I discovered watching the first season (and only the first 12 episodes) of owl house.

Luz takes a drawing amity did after reading her fantasy book from earth..said drawing is Amity with an albeit very feminine looking wizard type character named malengale...she even put "this love is forbidden." As a caption. So I'm at least partly convinced despite what Dana "I ❤️ diversity" said.

These characters at one point weren't meant to be the genderspecial clowns they ended up becoming. They were originally meant to be typical fantasy characters/young adults who ultimately got forced into their roles because hey, the mouse says diversity is the new thing...so let's make everyone as genderspecial and gay this show up out the door!...but we're still canceling you after 3 seasons that aren't even full traditional seasons of a show anyway.

Funny how Eda's line in episode 13 is "last chance to back out." It's quite fitting.
I've never seen this show, I'm confused can you elaborate on what you're talking about?

I would give Illumination a little more credit. For all their faults, Despicable Me was genuinely a great film and so was its sequel. The Minions are like the Rabbids where they had mass appeal from the get-go, being shaped in a way to make them flexible and having their own language and slapstick so humor transcended language boundaries. Illumination makes watchable films, none are super annoying, just uninspired, making them pretty reliable compared to Pixar, Disney and DreamWorks.

All you need to know is owl house's first 12 eps are ok..at best they're an American americanized ripoff of little witch academia. But by the second season the main character luz was confirmed to be bi by the creator and her former enemy turned best friend amity blythe was confirmed to be a lesbo. Except there's a gag in the first season where clearly amity shows some interest to what I presume is a male...albeit one that only exists in a fantasy novel that belongs to luz.

By the shows end every character went from a typical kid in a high fantasy series to looking like the kinds of annoying people who loiter in starbucks all day....and acting like it too. seriously Danna was so hell bent on pushing woke lqbbq shit in the final season she integrated pride pins into the characters wardrobes, a rainbow ally pin for luzs mom, a bi pin for luz her self, I think the only thing they didn't add to the show was a troon...which if they had a 4th season I'm pretty sure they would have.

Futurama Season 8 schedule is out for Hulu
I'm not sure what to expect

What does the binary in episode 3 mean? Q?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the show get cancelled at 2 seasons and the third season is like 3 pitty episodes or am I mixing it up?

Was thinking about Moana today. Is that the last Disney film that's had a real villain? Even then, while Tamatoa has a good villain song, he's not the main antagonist, and the primary antagonist is abstract and healed by love.

Nothing about Wish is selling me except the fact that there's a villain.

(I say this as someone who loves redemption stories, but you have to give me a baddie to have one!)
