Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

Looks like Disney is going back to the nostagic well and continuing the old X-men cartoon from the 90s

Of course they wouldn't have the balls to make it completely like the 96/97 cartoon

Yeah I heard about this forever ago. As much as the ending of Spider-Man 1994 felt incomplete, I really don't want them to bring it back the way they're doing with X-Men. The SM showrunner, John Semper, seems to have gone woke. And I don't want to see them fuck up Spider-Man's sexy 90s girls, like the Rogue comparison @Back me up! posted.

normal sexuality?
in the modern day?
look at this bigot
Oh, you like depictions of attractive women in media, chud? Why don't you just go watch porn and jack off!?!

I hate how "porn addict" has become this new blanket term that gets thrown out as some sort of gotcha against any depiction of remotely attractive women in any media. "Porn addict" was for coomers who cover their room in wall-to-wall screens just for porn now it's applied to anyone who appreciates aesthetically pleasing characters.

It's honestly mind boggling when all of these weirdly puritanical zoomers, bizarre modern variants of wacky feminists and other unpleasant folks go on about how "oh yeah well why is this character hot if you're not supposed to beat off to them" as if they straight up cannot understand how anyone could simply prefer things that look aesthetically pleasing as opposed to ugly.

How gross it is we have people see attractive lady characters in comics, animation, video games, etc. and instantly make an association with porn? That's not normal! That's a weird new thing.

What if many or most of the weirdly puritanical "Zoomers" are stuck in that "girls have cooties" stage of sexual development?

Ooooo that's one I love too! The nostalgia for this one is strong.

Man I miss old Toonami.
The first era of Toonami got old real quick once they shoehorned in a marathon of Naruto reruns during the mid-2000s.
At least they're using non-binary in a way that makes sense, him being a shapeshifter and all.

Oh hey, lets check in on the lead writer:
"Lead writer and producer of the X-Men reboot on Disney+ is having a meltdown about Kyle Rittenhouse. Calls him a "racist white supremacist," and thinks all 20 yearold white males are "potential mass shooters."'

And there's more! Expect to see a white anti-mutant hate group lead by a chubby looking 18-20 year old.

But seriously, the crew behind X-Men 97 is giving the likes of Bryan Singer a run for his money

I'm starting to think that maybe X-men should've never had its own animated series unless it's from actual fans of the comics. The Non-Binary announcement screamed pandering to me. Why couldn't they just wait for the show and reveal it there? I will never get the obsession of these hacks and the executives with getting brownie points. It's fucking X-men. It doesn't need the brownie points since IT WAS BUILT AROUND THEM.

Because it is the modern era and every company is caught between gaming the system for ESG and DEI initiatives and the nepotistic hires made from that fact. Most writers now are the opposite of the 90s, they don't have a family or any real connections. They are forever-teenagers living out crazy sex fantasies well into their 30s, while also trying to get validation for doing so.

They will also never hire fans of the property to write for it. Hollywood types hate IP driven products, making it a rarity to find a Raimi. Too much stock in awards to take a pride hit and work on something that isn't Oscar bait. Because of how much of the system is built on connections and/or favors, it is impossible to get a normal person to head projects.

It's as clear as day that the nepotistic manchildren behind 97 that pretend to act that they have "talent" and also have a very sad case of Peter Pan syndrome should not be allowed to work at a media industry. Modern media industry is hellbent on hiring these type of people who act as if they are true fans, but they aren't. They only looked up a few Wikipedia articles and then claim themselves as fans. This is the literal future of entertainment.

Why the side shave for Storm? She had beautiful fluffy hair!

To be fair Storm did have a mohawk in the comics, and she was able to rock it just fine.
But Storm with a mohawk had punk/rock style of clothing that accompanied her and made the hairstyle work, meanwhile here it feels very out of place, as if they swapped heads between the regular Storm design and punk one.

They should had went with the iconic long fluffy hair but sadly according to Californians,
women in (western) media can only have hideous dyke side shaves, pseudo-man buns that empathize on their foreheads or ugly ass wolf cuts.

Those haircuts are sick, in the 90s it wasn't a given that any woman with this haircut was a man hating communist tranny. "Tomboy" back then didn't mean "pooner" or "femboy" like it does today

Nerd Corps Entertainment's (Battle Force 5, Stormhawks, Slugterra, ect.) animation always went back and forth on being janky/cheap as fuck and genuinely cool.

It surprises me it was merged and are now only doing one show. Nerd Corps really had a very trademark art style that you could tell whom made it. Doesn't help that SlugTerra did sell a lot, and now it is trapped on a limbo

That and the animators were probably too lazy to animate Storm's full flowing hair, or considered it too much of a hassle.
