Honestly Moomin deserves nothing less.
The only person I've ever met who liked Moomin was some weird ass Arabic guy in a Discord I used to be in some years ago who would post gay Moomin porn and used it as his profile pictures everywhere he went. I have literally never heard of it before or since interacting with him.

Such a garbage franchise made by a cheating lesbian that only appeals to "cutesy" abhorrent people.
If anyone thinks otherwise, they are retarded. Tove Jansson pushed for legalizing faggots and pushed for it to be in media, including kids stuff. If I would start a book burning, Moomins would definitely be on the list.

You know what... Not even surprised.

All that "anime inspired" cope is just to weasel their way into Japanese properties.
Moomins is actually swedish. It's just that the most famous version of it, the one you're probably thinking of, was an anime. It's got that sailor moon syndrome, the liminal vhs aesthetic.

I think Rebecca Sugar actually isn't a bad choice for Moomins, mostly because the series is about being light and quaint, which suits the tone of her art I think.

Although personally I'd rather have Nick Cross, the art director of Over the Garden Wall take a crack at it. Him or Felix Colgrave.

Now ask yourself: who exactly is going to be inspired and motivated by any of the latter?
To play the devils advocate :
  1. the series wasn't made for Kiwifarmers
  2. this isn't a children's show /movie like Avatar and Mulan
  3. the people making it don't have to conform to old hero character stereotypes
  4. the writing is what will either make or break the show, not the character design because there are lots of beloved shows with ugly characters
  5. The goal of this show is to entertain. It's neither 80s He-man teaching children lessons nor Superman.

what previous work has dana done to prove to someone like me (not gay, or a fat lesbian)
that she is capable of making something good? let alone tackling a tired topic like refusing to conform to hero character stereotypes without making my eyes roll?
her track record doesn't inspire hope, and I doubt she's capable of doing something interesting.

She has no balls to do something crazy like,
"oh you thought I was JUST fucking with Disney? bitch I'm about to shit on the retards that hired me and currently paying me now"
I've seen this only happen once before, going in thinking they're playing it safe shitting on something everyone already hates : Disney
only to see the story do a 180 and start shitting on the company that hired them in the first place.

she's just not the type of person willing to die over her ideas, and that makes me sad.
and yes. the director of the thing I'm thinking about died shortly after doing the thing I'm referenced above.
but instead of disney, he was shitting on pixar, and then the company who hired him, the whole story was a spoof of woody needing to kill a kid, so he can go to hell with his blow-up doll wife, and eventually it just spirals into killing the mascot of the company who funded his shit

I expect 3D slop that's worse than MoominValley because Rebecca Sugar is allowed to direct and write it

Honestly 1990 Moomin is still the best one, and no matter what other entries come after, they can't take it away.

really shit advocacy considering the site has a 1000 page thread composed of people who watch and discuss hazbin hotel.

There's a difference between ugly character and ugly design. Frankie is a mid character with an ugly design. Someone like quasimodo is an ugly character with an appealing design. The reason she's ugly is not because she's supposed to be bad looking in the show, its because she looks like a bugman as a result of being drawn like that.

Went looking at some fanart of this bish to see if maybe she looked nicer in those. Its a bit of a toss up, 50% make her more appealing and 50% make her even uglier.

Her features look way more appealing in this persons style, and al they changed was making the nose a bit more protruding and reducing the bug eyes. Show frankie honestly looks like one of those overbred dogs that cannot breathe.

Same with this one, shes still a fat fuck with busted teeth, catterpillar eyebrows, eyebags and a nose bump, but having actual eyelids, an actual nose, slightly less twiggy ankles and a slightly more realistic overall width makes it less painful to look at

And then on the other hand you have

My problem with the design is the hair. She’s supposed to be a mechanic who works around machines.
Why the FUCK would you have long ass hair that could get tangled into the machinery???? Look at any mechanic design and you’ll see that all of them have short or tied up hair.

I’m really tempted to do a clean up redesign because her current look is not a good design to end on.

Moomins are Finnish. The creator spoke swedish but she was born in Helsinki.

The only thing I see Sugar bringing to the franchise is genderspecial faggotry and bad music. (Maybe some nice backgrounds if I am being generous.) If she doesn't just have Moomintroll and Snufkin as outright gay lovers it will be due to some incredible restraint on her part. I say this being fully aware the original creator Tove Jansson was a dyke, still doesn't stop fujos from deciding it needs to be gayer and gayer as time goes on.
Art wise it doesn't really matter if Sugar still won't make people draw on model or goes out of her way to uglify character designs.

Nick Cross would be a better fit I agree, but I would just as soon not have anyone mess with the franchise if I'm being honest.
