The hands aren't constantly changing in the ad, the joke is they have a normal amount of fingers as opposed to 3 because they're live action he-man figures with badly sculpted turtle heads to emulate shit like turly gang.

My statements about "our friend power 5" was because this is clearly going to have a robot in it and "our friend power 5" is a korean tokusatsu movie made to promote a bootleg go bots combiner with downscaled tmnt figures as it's pilots.

Thanks to youtube randomly reccomending me a guy opening the things I found out they actually made official figures of the fake knockoff figures from the trailer for this new christmas special, likely to promote it.
They're a lot more posable than both the knockoffs in the animation's fake commercial and more posable than the old prolific knockoffs they're refrencing.

They even have card art mimicking the engrish phrases on the old bootlegs!

Seriously it's always been so fucking weird how the last decade nearly every indie game at some point announces it's gonna have an animated series and then never follows up on it. UNDERTALE Had something like this too but it's like a web comic instead of an animated series IIRC.

I assume this is some kind of marketing technique where they announce something just to gauge interest and then quietly let it go stale when it's clear that no one actually wants to see it. However I bet there's concept art and animation tests hidden deep within these companies that will get leaked one day if anyone still gives a shit 10+ years from now.

Toby will probably do it at some point. He announced it next to DELTARUNE ...in the original kickstarter back in 2013.
I don't have much faith though, all the tumblr webcomic artists that he hangs out with are fucking awful.

*Some character from his webcomics served as inspiration for Mettaton. Looking him up, he's connected to that game journo clique (Subgroup: Early troon circle, friends with Abuser Anthropy)
Isn't it funny that Mettaton (and also possibly Spamton) was inspired by a character from a guy mostly involved in gory troon pornography at the time?
(Which, come to think of it, it pretty much just ripping off that one Panty and Stocking episode but it's 1930's because it's 2011)

Well, this sudden ping was certainly unexpected. I am familiar with Anna Anthropy, but only at a base level, and because "she" made Mighty Jill Off (it's in Super Meat Boy) and Lesbian Spider Queens from Mars. Indie Games Searchlight covered it in 2012, it's pretty funny to watch his review with the added benefit of hindsight,
(In case you forgot, Indie Games Searchlight was a review show on YT that covered Indie Games. It was hosted on NormalBoots (Jontron and PBG), as well as The Punk Effect (Pat the NES Punk's website))

I don't really know any of the people beyond the ones I covered in Case III. For example, this is my first time seeing the name "PAULI M. KOHBERGER." Mettaton's inspiration is credited to Bob Sparker, JN Wiedle, and someone named "Sarah", but I dunno if that's "PAULI" or not. I'd probably need to do some more research, or at the very least get some more background on these people, given the archive posts lead to websites I am just now seeing for the first time.

As for the webcomic, I thought it was gonna be Toby and Temmie doing sprite comics using UT assets. That honestly feels like something they would do.

Mettaton is david bowie, and spamton is a cripplingly depressed saleman living out of a dumpster. Whomst the fuck would fit both of those and "be involved in gory troon pornography"?
 
Reminded myself this was what competed with The Simpsons as shorts on another program, 38 years ago. Boy, I miss the 80's.
