Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

So, this exists…
A Tom & Jerry film based on a Gacha game?
I'm sorry, but I honestly think Tom and Jerry should always be strictly 2D and never 3D because the gags, reactions, and slapstick just do not translate well on 3D.

And by 2D I mean actual hand-drawn and not computer animated.

Not only 2D as in the art style, but every time they try to make Tom & Jerry more than "Cat and mouse trying to get each other" and more dimensional it fails, case in point; Tom & Jerry Movie, Tom & Jerry Kids etc.

Roadrunner has the same issue.

You know literally nothing about Spider-man if you think this is true.
think about it. if spiderman gave up his powers to cure cancer.
who the fuck is going to deal with sandman, venom, that dinosaur guy, green goblin?

even IF spiderman cured cancer. that same dude who just got cured is still going to get mugged by some bulletproof freak.
curing cancer doesn't fix all of the worlds problems. spiderman would know this.

Spiderman needs to stay in his lane, curing cancer was never his mission and he's stupid for thinking the dinosaur man riding another dinosaur
would respond to the whole "but what about cancer?"
how about you cure cancer spiderman? stop asking the dinosaur man to fix all the world's problems.

Well per Spider Man reign...
Peter's seman is radioactive, and is what killed Mary Jane. So he's more a net exporter of cancer.

he's at least got more incentive to cure it anyway.

BLACK SPIDERMAN
THE ENTRIE BLACK RACE NEEDS YOU TO GIVE UP YOUR stolen SPIDER POWERS TO GET REPARATIONS FOR YOUR PEOPLE.
GREEN GOBLIN IS ON THE PHONE READY TO FUND A UNIVERSAL INCOME PROGRAM FOR ALL BLACKS.

HE JUST NEEDS YOU DRINK THIS SLIME FOR PAYMENT
Knowing the modern nigger culture, Miles would end up being called a 'Coon and race trairor for working with Peter in stopping crime.

That and not having the Pan-African colors on his suit :lit:

like batman, the gallery of rogues only exist because the superhero exists. when batman quit so did the joker. the nypd can handle regular criminals.
You're fucking retarded.

BTAS debunked this in an episode specifically for it, and in the Frank Miller continuity the super villains don't show up until The Long Halloween, which takes place a couple years after Batman has been taking it to the various organized crime syndicates in Gotham.

These two properties form the basis of basically every single modern take on Batman.

the real message of comic books is that cities are unlivable shitholes and no matter how many faceless criminals you sweep into prison cells, there'll always be more to clean up.

The only good cities in comics are Central City and Metropolis.

You know - cities which have superheroes with literal super-speed to keep crime down.

So they can work if you get a demi-god on the payroll.

I am currently watching through the early 90s cartoon Pirates of Dark Water. I have always wanted to get into it, I don't seem to recall seeing it on any of the channels I watched growing up. I mainly stuck to Nickelodeon and Fox and the WB. It's really fun so far and I love the smooth animation. It's a shame it never was finished. I will probably play through the SNES and Genesis games for funsies. Has anyone read the comics?

Central City is downright pleasant since Flash has a cordial relationship with most of his villains and there's a status quo in place.

FIFY

The whole point of Metropolis is that it is technically as corrupt as Gotham but looks better running off the same image politics as a Chinese city. The city is run by a man who has no qualms assassinating opposition and bleeding the city dry at any given moment. It’s a city where international terrorists go to get high quality tech as either Luthor or Bruno will sell it under the table. Everything in Metropolis is under the table till that stuff gets too big to contain and ends up with some super fuck either destroying or enslaving half the city.

I'm late to the party and I'm sure that has been talked about, but I'm around a third of the way through the new Phineas and Ferb season. Turns out it's... really really good.

It's not a reboot so much as a sequel where they just time skip to next summer, picking up where they left off. Which is exactly what they do. They seem a little more willing to shake up the formula this time around, but for the most part, they still stick to the script. Not that it's a bad thing. Doof is evil again and if there's an in story reason they haven't explained it. But the show doesn't really work otherwise, so whatever. They actually address a few things that they never followed up on in the original, such as Stacy knowing about Perry's secret identity.

Some of the characters sound surprisingly different despite having the same VAs, even though the actors aren't really at an age where you'd expect major voice changes. Linda and Baljeet stand out, to the point where I had to check if they'd been replaced. Ferb uses his same VA from Candace Against the Universe, which seems to have been a decision by the actor to leave. He's not quite as good as the OG, but he's fine. Pretty much all the others have been retained.

The animation looks a little different in motion. Not bad different, but it takes some getting used to. Stylistically it fits right in with the original.

The inventions are a LITTLE less interesting on average, but I think they do a bit more with the plot... such as it is. At times the atmosphere feels.... a little less wacky, but a lot more surreal. It's hard to explain, and maybe it's just me. Again, it's not bad, just different.

It's not QUITE as good as peak season 4, but easily on the level of late season 2/early season 3. Crazy fun for the whole family. Definitely the best of the recent rash of cartoon reboots. Go watch it.
