Looks like the Anti AI people can celebrate on this. What do ya'll think of this?
FYI, this particular case is entirely meaningless and has always been meaningless, and yet every time it comes up the modern tech media fellates it as if it's some significant blow to AI.

Here's what happened.

Thaler is a man who allegedly developed an AI model. The AI model made something resembling art. Thaler applied for copyright for the art, but wrote his AI model's name down as the copyright holder.

You cannot do this, as only humans can hold copyright. The copyright office told him to cut it out, if he wrote a non-human's name on the application it was just always gonna get rejected. But he kept trying and suing because he insisted that his AI was conscious and should get its own copyright over what it made.

The court's rejection of this is all just rooted in what is basically a clerical error. If you fill out the forms wrong, they'll get rejected. If the government asks you for your social security number on official documentation and you write "poopybutt" instead, they would also reject that submission.

This has nothing to do with AI at all and everything to do with the court continuing to plead with Thaler to stop being a fucking retard. That's why the Supreme Court wouldn't hear it, because it's just a retard filling out forms incorrectly.

None of the articles covering this mention that AI works can be protected by copyright as long as you submit them under your own name and you also meet the copyright office's criteria for protection as they laid out in part 2 of their copyrightability report. The copyright office has already granted protection to thousands of AI and AI-assisted works and will continue to do so, despite what the breathless article titles try to imply.

Story-time animator TheOdd1sOut fired his animation team.

OddOne firing everyone sounds juicy since the guy himself comes off as a nice guy. Wonder what kind of shit went down that he pulled up his big boy pants and pulled the plug.

i thought he animated those videos himself?
He hasn't done that in years almost a decade ago. Barely anyone in that side of the youtube animation community animates their own content. They all hire animators to do that while they chat on the microphone about how "my life is like yours, but I animate while doing it." Shits been fake and rigged for years. Just check the descriptions of most of these youtube animation community videos, they all got teams and its all gay.

In fact, to prove that most of these youtube animators just hire people, here are some examples

Illymations (the animator who tried to cancel and remove think before you sleep for talking about her fat video)

I am watching animated movies w my toddler now. She asks for movies so we watch them every other day. I love kids movies and wanna keep a record of rating them. Is it cringe to post? Tell me if you hate it.

The Lion King: 10/10
(the version of the movie without "Morning Report")
Perfect movie. It's like the og Star Wars of animated movies. Hits the marks on the hero's journey and doesn't overstay its welcome. Banger OST. Got to tell my husband the trivia of the opening song being "OHHH LOOK A LIONNNN, OH MY GOD."

The Secret Life of Pets: 2/10
I've always wanted to see this. It's dogshit. Simple story dragged down by horrible celebrities being VAs. Gidget's VA was the best. My fav parts were the opening and closing sequences along w/any sequences about "pet humor." Felt like whoever made this movie really hated cats tho. Not a 1/10 bc it was minimally watchable.

Sing 2: 9/10
I saw the first one w/family, so I got a soft spot for the series. Second movie is great. Lots of slapstick and physical comedy. Characters are likable. Story is simple but makes you cheer for protags. I liked it more than the first movie. Really pretty vfx and fun new charas.

Trolls: 7.5/10
This movie is for stoners first and kids second lmao. Also a bit Millennial nostalgia bait before nostalgia bait was annoying. I rly appreciated how much of the sets and charas were created to look like they're made of felt. Act 2 and 3 drag. Otherwise ok. I saw clips of the second film and loved the villain designs. So I wanna watch that one.

We watched Totoro and Kiki's Delivery Service between these. My kid asks for Kiki's the most. Not western animation, so no rating.

Do u guys have suggestions for animated movies? I am a bit of a sleep-deprived parent who can't remember titles of animated films.

Absolutely wholesome.

Put on Don Bluth movies for her. The Last Unicorn and the 1977 The Hobbit are good picks, too, especially since the two of you watched Totoro and Kiki's.

A qualifier for the Don Bluth remark - ONLY his 80s films (Secret of NIMH, An American Tail, and All Dogs Go to Heaven) and Anastasia. The rest ranges from mid to trash.

Disney recommendations:
Snow White (1937)
Pinocchio (1940)
Fantasia
Bambi
Cinderella (1950) - maybe the live action remake too, I've heard that one is actually decent
Sleeping Beauty (1959)
101 Dalmatians (1961)
The Adventures of Winnie-the-Pooh (1977)
The Rescuers + Down Under (1977 + 1990)
Beauty and the Beast (1991) - the best Disney fairy tale adaptation IMO
Aladdin (1992)
The Hunchback of Notre Dame - fuck those gargoyles though
Hercules
Mulan (ninety ninety eight)
Tarzan - Terk can go die in a fire
The Emperor's New Groove - to this day, the funniest Disney movie
Atlantis - YMMV on this one
Lilo and Stitch (2002) - the best all-around original Disney movie. FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST, STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM THE REMAKE
Treasure Planet - again, YMMV. Me personally I love it
Meet the Robinsons - this one is pretty underrated IMO
The Princess and the Frog
Tangled
Wreck it Ralph

Non-Disney and Don Bluth recommendations:
Cats Don't Dance
The Iron Giant
Ice Age (only the first one)
The Prince of Egypt
Chicken Run (again only the first one)
Shrek (only the first one - noticing a pattern yet?.....ok ok maybe 2 as well)
The Road to El Dorado - again, funny as hell
The Secret of Kells
Song of the Sea
Wolfwalkers
Charlotte's Web (1973)
The Book of Life
Horton Hears a Who (2000 and eight)
Wallace and Gromit (both the movie, Curse of the Were-Rabbit and all of the shorts)

.....I probably overloaded you didn't I?

I fucking hate the WCO video player. It just loves to stop loading at random and forcing me to refresh the whole page in order to keep watching something.
I wish I knew which Kim clone wasn't compromised or had a shitty player or an incomplete archive.

Can't believe you left out Land Before Time, mate lmao. But honestly, Don Bluth films still deserve a watch regardless. Troll in Central Park is perfect for toddlers as-is, it won't hurt the kid.

Don't they still allow for video downloads through the "Save Video" right-click?

Also, is Davis even making new comics anymore? There could be a "ghost artist(s)" making the new comics now.
I'm pretty sure he's had assistants going back to the 90s
I think I recall one of them getting a partial credit for some of US Acres / Orson's Farm?

Balto (only the first one)
haven't seen it
The Peanuts movie
should've put that on the list, tbh
Kpop Demon hunter
overrated modern Asian-slop trash
and for Disney where's Lady and the Tramp or Bolt?
haven't seen either
Can't believe you left out Land Before Time, mate lmao.
Land Before Time is mid AF and the only reason people remember it is for Littlefoot's mom dying.
