Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

I'm still in the middle of watching this, but I'm leaving this here because it's fucking amazing. Don't let the title of the video fool you, it's mostly an animation lesson (albeit that of an extremely unfortunate box office bomb).

Oh hey I just watched this yesterday, Treasure Planet was a favorite of mine growing up and it deeply upsets me that they pulled the plug on a sequel.

I sorta thought one film was enough personally. It felt pretty self-contained. I don't recall if the original Treasure Island ever needed a sequel but it's certainly one I could see fans wanting more of.

I mainly discovered it because it's been making the "Have you seen this weird-ass movie?" rounds lately.

God knows I would like to own it if it was ever released in any home media format, though.
Its a gem, the animator that directed it still works in the buis too, he'll be directing the animation of the upcoming Hey Arnold film.

If you're interested in a DVD theres some on ebay with the English dub, alternatively it was released on VHS in its home country with a truly dope cover.

Rumen Petkov is a genius even if nobody talks about his former Bulgarian works often.

Not bad! Noticed a poster on IMDB that makes it seem interesting as well (not sure what language that is but I think it's Romanian).

I think Bulgaria's greatest export though was the works of Donyo Donev, famous for his "The Three Fools" series in particular.

Other noted works of Bulgarian animation I've enjoyed as a kid from seeing these odd things on TV include the following...

Probably the most hard-hitting one of all is this!

Speaking of cashing in on the latest trend. Here's a half-baked idea from DiC made to capitalize on the milk cap "Pog" craze of '94!

EDIT: Be thankful we never got a cartoon involving a Fidget Spinner!

Anyone remember a show called 'Fantastic four: World's greatest heroes'? It was an anime-style show on cartoon network with one season that aired between 2006-7 and had reruns until i'd like to say 2010. I Fuckin' loved that show when I was young. It was a bit fucked up though I remember one episode where Johnny becomes evil and it screwed with my head when I was 11.

Remember seeing bits of it when it aired on YTV back around that time, but never paid much attention to it.

I do remember the robot from the '78 series showed up in it.

So TBS has a new show called Tarantula you can binge right now. I like the really shaggy, laid-back vibe to it.

The good news is that my prayers have been answered and Netflix will release a She-Ra reboot. Given that She-Ra was a big influence on me as a kid and I've wanted this to happen since the Mike Young Masters of the Universe cartoon, I was happy. Bad news is this SJW comic book writer (she does Lumberjanes) will have a hand in it as a producer. I just hope they don't fuck it up.
