Not gonna lie, this kinda bums me out a little. I loved the pilot and was actually looking forward to it being greenlit as a series, but a series of unfortunate revelations have effectively killed my interest in watching it. The creator may have been a pedophilic POS, but I don't think the show deserves such a poor treatment or bad luck.

Not surprised, creator was a pedo and the animation studio they used shut down after season 1 IIRC. From what I saw of it, it really wasn't anything special. The fantasy world wasn't too interesting and the real-world parts were more watchable (not that that's saying much.)

I’d say the fantasy stuff would be fun to young kids, but then all the puberty stuff is more suited to tweens who’d be too old for it.

Checking out the comments, even a lot of the woke Twitter brigade aren't going to miss it:

That's pretty much the only worthy part of the show, tbh. Even /co/ admits that.

I'm not one to watch a cartoon where they literally say "it's too heteronormative" in it or some bullshit like that.

Yes, those “& Friends” episodes that featured washed-up actors voicing poorly animated versions of themselves - in one case I remember coming across one of those on cable and there was a poorly animated Don Adams of "Get Smart" fame in a brown leisure suit, crawling around with his body ass-up in the air and I immediately went back to channel surfing.

Having read the "Big Mouth" thread, I reminded myself Nelvana made this almost 20 years ago, based on Gahan Wilson's "Nuts" cartoons....

After looking at one of these, I only have this question to ask the room...
Would Big Mouth, crap that it overall is that I otherwise continue proudly to refuse to watch even out of curiosity, at the very least, have looked better if they used this artstyle for these, instead? The writing would still not be saved by this artstyle, which I do think in these vids shown here, is far superior to that fucking trainwreck, regardless.

I'm still not touching Big Mouth ever - even if it has gotten good, getting n-times better * still being a 0... still == 0.

Regardless, this was a nice little discovery, though. Thank you for that.

When your show has a talking vagina as a plot beat in an episode, no amount of art style changes is going to make that look any less terrible. In fact, making it in that more realistic style probably would've made it even more uncomfortably creepy.

The one benefit I could see a change like that having is it'd do that one scene with Freddie Mercury's ghost a bit more justice visually, but that's about it; those troll things'd still look hideous, you'd might actually lose any...let's call it """uniqueness"""...BM's current artstyle has, and of course, as you said: the writing'd still be garbage.

I feel like a lot of people missed this, but all the people that complain about big mouth having the worst art style and adult voice actors (Which is another common complaint) is because they probably wanted to avoid accusations of sexualization while not appearing artsy or boring.

note: I do not watch/follow the show, this is conjecture.

That's a good way to make shitty art, by being afraid of what people who hate art might say about it.
