Anyway, hopefully the writers for the reboot will avoid making the mistake of using dated references, something that's a common complaint with the original version for its 90s references, or so I've heard.* And that they'd be wise to completely eschew political jokes altogether (or at least not make any explicit references to certain politicians.) Bill Clinton was decently handled in the original from what I can remember, but can you imagine a Trump gag in the reboot, and it not fall flat? Doing so would be in incredibly poor taste, what with today's increasingly hostile political climate and stale ORANGE MAN BAD jokes.

*It's been a long, long time since I've watched an episode, and I can barely remember anything from the original show. Pardon me if I've got some details wrong or inaccurate.

Well the rumor came from /co/ so I guess I should take it with a grain of salt, but I still have my suspicions.

I don't hate The Owl House, i just think it's "meh". I expected more serious tone. It was advertised as "horror-comedy" and only "horror" elements are more creepy aesthetic of the world (and those creatures are often show in comedy light). Something more similar to Infinity Train.

When it comest to Animaniacs - I did not watch a lot of episodes. I remember some vaguely from childhood, only selected ones when I was older. Not my kind of show, but I really respect its role in American animation history, what it tried to do, animation quality was often really, really good for TV show.
From what I've read - this is not really your typical "reboot", but new episodes after years? More of a sequel? So it makes no sense changing estabilished character gender and romantic preferences. If they wans it so much, just make a new character.
I still think it's very unnecesarry reboot, Animaniacs is a show very connected to the 90s, changes in animation industry (anti-censorship etc) and its great for what it was, but I have no idea how to make it work now. I doubt they will make fun of modern animation trends, given how on Twitter there is "no critisizing contemporary shows or you will be blacklisted from the industry". And I'm worried about possible anime references.

The sad, sad state of the industry these days. Someone needs to knock some sense everyone on twitter, and maybe twitter's owners while we're at it. Because this is thin-skinned as fuck.

It’s true. Animation twitter is just professionals publicly circlejerking each other with vapid praise constantly. Any and all criticism of a show/film is taken as a personal insult and you will be outcasted for not joining in on the praise circlejerk. It’s incredibly stupid, but being aware of this and at least keeping your mouth shut will keep you in the good graces of recruiters.

This isn't actually the case. It was a badly stated version of what the real hiring policy generally is - that is, if you're the kind of nitpicky, whiny person who, say, does animation reviews on YouTube, you're not going to get hired anywhere. You can be critical but not an asshole. Preferably don't whine about how every new show sucks. You generally can't pick and choose what you work on all that much.

Of course, if you are that kind of person I doubt you'd get through the door to begin with.

Yeah, sorry, I overreadted a bit. But during whole Thundercats Roar controversy it felt like everybody HAD TO defend the show/tweet about it. Usually the only thing you are allowed to critisize is movies from big studios (accusing Disney of sameface, something being "racist" etc.), but for example if you just disliked those Thudercats reboot you could be write off as the same kind of person as those nitpicky youtubers. But at the same time, while demanding respect for animators working on "Roar" it was OK to make fun of original show, because who cares for people who worked on it then. I think it's the best to just dont be active on Twitter or post only art and news from shows you are actually working on. But yeah, you dont often choose the show you are working at the moment.
So, I just don't think Animaniacs will make fun of roundy art style in modern cartoons or how many action cartoons reboots on Cartoon Network are now comedies (Teen Titans, Thundercats, Ben 10) or Steven Universe and redeeming villians badly.
 
Of course, there’s also the problem that you have to be diplomatic when working in the business. You’re going to meet people who created shows you don’t like, or worked on them. What do you do then?...

If it turns out they didn’t like it either, though, you can be completely honest.

If your religion isn't the primary influencing factor in how you relate to other people and the world in general, then what you've got isn't a religion: it's a book-club. 😉

That said, I don't think you can call this "people inserting their religion into every single instant of everything in their day" any more than the ongoing Star Wars thread is "people inserting their fandom into every single instant of everything in their day." At least with Star Wars, Disney didn't actually go to the extent of implying that Palpatine was telling the truth when he claimed the Jedi were just a bunch of big ol' meanies persecuting the poor, misunderstood Sith Lords. 😂

To be fair, they pulled the same stunt with She Ra. A modern trend seems to be shitting on older properties to prop up the new stuff. It’s pretty tiresome at this point.
A little late on Owl House discussion but I’m going to give it some more time to find it’s footing. A lot of shows tend to be a bit slower paced at the start but often get better as it goes on. We’ll see.

Of some interest, the "C/FO cut" of Animalympics has been uploaded to YouTue. This version separates the Winter and Summer Games portion of the film into it's original two separate TV specials. Worth a watch if only to see the footage that was removed from the Winter Games version.

You will never work in animation. It's all BS because the WORKERS don't call the shots, their BOSSES do. Saying this shit discourages artists and animators. (Based on the responses @XtrmGamr719 gave, it's working.) They treat this business like a kool kids klub and it needs to stop. You're making entertainment for CHILDREN, not preventing the apocalypse, get off that high horse.

Back on topic, I'm optimistic about the Animaniacs reboot. Cautiously though, I've been burnt before. 🚬
 
I've lost all hope in western animation.
It's been garbage for way too long.
Batman TAS is the pinnacle of good western cartoon. Rewatching it a few months back was a good idea because it's just not nostalgia faggotry telling me to say that. its just genuinely amazing to look at even now.
