Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

If there's one thing the reboot did that I approve of is snubbing Tara Strong of a potential rehire and her bitching about it on Twitter.
I do feel bad for Cathy Cavidini and EG Daily though. Plus Tara Strong ended up getting rehired for the Ben 10 reboot, so she got the last laugh in the end.
This is some SJW shit. Trying to act all offended at slash drawings of Eddy and Double D or Sourpuss blowing Gandy Goose... Lots of animators have done shit like this. Ever heard of C. Martin Croker's "Forbidden File"?
The stuff in her actual show is creepy enough without looking into her past. Hey-O!

Shitty joke aside, the name is a tip off that he’s not actually offended and is just trying to stir the pot and troll fans. Doesn’t help (and this is probably why he’s doing it) that SU fans are hypocritical about this scenario; like you said, this is normal in the industry yet they only give Sugar a pass. Everyone else who’s drawn smut is dragged over twitter.
The thing about Sugar's EE&E smut is that she drew it when she was around 17 or 18, well before she was employed at CN. The key difference is that Sugar supposedly regrets drawing that and hasn't drawn any more since than.

And you do have a point about animators doing this in the past, while I've never heard of C. Martin Croker's "Forbidden File" I have heard other tales, the most notable ones being the Rugrats Storyboard Jams and the "official" Disney smut The Mouse keeps locked away in the Disney Vault. It's also worth noting that Amber Cragg drew a couple of pieces of softcore SU smut (one involving Pearl and another involving Amethyst) before being hired on as a boarder.
Then there was Ian Jones Quartey and his past with smut; he even went so far as to like SU lewds on his main account. He used to encourage people to get weird with the fanart before backlash made him recant his statements.

Personally my favorite story isn’t porn related but when a storyboarder shipped his self insert with Pearl and proudly showed it to the crew; it’s much creepier than it sounds. Parts of it was even posted on the official tumblr.

Comedy Central announced two of their longer-running shows Tosh.0 and Drunk History were over despite getting renewed for three or four seasons already. This is relevant because they're focusing way more on adult animation (explains the R&S reboot a little more...VERY little). South Park is probably safe as usual but it's unusual for shows to get the greenlight for more seasons, think they're okay for a while and then the execs say "nevermind, get out".

And to be fair, we've all done stupid, regrettable shit as teens.

I'm shocked Tosh.0 has lasted this long to be honest, remember Tosh was one of the first targets of cancel culture.

Drunk History's fucking hilarious, why the hell would they cancel it?

A-lot of shows did, hell Animaniacs had a whole episode mocking retards who live on the internet and this was in the 1990s when the internet was still thought of as a quaint novelty.

The Internet was a novelty but so were insane degenerate pervert fans on the Internet using it to stalk your VAs and show staff. Dennis M. "quozl" Falk was ahead of his time.

And he still does this to this day. Its just theirs more freaks now, so many forget he still on the internet.

So I'm rewatching Doug's Halloween special (ik it's August don't care) and two things

1. Nickelodeon back in the day made some terrifying Halloween specials hell I still remember getting chills whenever October rolled around and they played Halloween promos.

2. Despite having a ridiculous name Baron bon hecklehoffer still makes me feel like I'm afraid to turn around feeling like there's someone behind be just like when I hadn't hit the permanent age double digits. Maybe it's cause I grew up with the haunted mask cover of goosebumps staring at me or the laughing ghosts from Scooby Doo but theres something about a green face, red eyes and heavy blacks that just gives me the creeps even when they try to make him look goofy or friendly towards the end it just...look at him

I'm scared to even keep this picture in my phone let alone have to look at it any longer

I swear to god Craig McCracken must have crossed a voodoo priest in traffic...

To sum it up, a live action adaptation of the PPG is being made for the CW, where the girls are disillusioned twenty somethings who now resent their childhood of crime fighting. The big brains behind this project are Diablo Cody of Juno fame and Greg Berlanti, producer of Riverdale and the DC shows for CW.

God has abandoned us...

I remember Juno (boring chick fucks a boring dude and gets pregs) but never heard of Riverdale. Apparently it's based on the Archie comics which were about teens going to school and dating each other I guess. Because the girls have superpowers, this is basically what those DC young adult novels have been doing: superheroes having therapy sessions in the coffee shop instead of fighting crime and saving the world.

Whoever keeps making these stories has a fetish for crestfallen heroes.

This is going to suck. There's really no way you can make anything about this work. What about the cartoon can you replicate in live action?

Are we going to get live-action actresses made to look like bug-eyed, no-fingered freaks?

They should be executed and while I have watched neither of those other two shows, I now know I'm better off for that.

There was that but other stuff. It was a wholesome franchise that doesn't deserve to be raped by SJWs.

I been recently looking at cartoons made in Canada. The ones that I am aware of such as Ninjago, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and Johnny Test.

And I just realized that Canada voice industry is very small.
Like those three cartoons alone share most of the same voice actors..

Like no joke it comes off smaller then the US Voice actor industry.

Just thought it would be some fun tidbits

I noticed that with Fresh TV's cartoons too, in 6teen, Total Drama, and Stoked, as they all use pretty much the same set of voice actors too for their shows.

Yeah, it was just a simple fairly bland comic about teenagers. I used to read it all the time as a kid, but sometime in the past few years they decided they wanted to be more “realistic” and “dramatic”. And Riverdale is like the extreme bastardization of that.
