I searched “Bojack Horseman funny moments” on YT to see why everyone was talking about the show, and I really did not laugh once. It almost reached Rick and Morty levels of storytelling where they argue why having depression is a good thing, but they have to be so pretentious about it.

Rick and Morty can have some cringy fans, but I think the worst thing that ever came out of it was that Youtuber making a scene at a McDonalds because of the sauce. I’ve seen a lot of way more fucked up shit from other cartoon fandoms than a guy jumping up and down on a counter shouting “Pickle Rick”.

SU had a ton of people bully a girl into attempting suicide over not drawing a character fat enough. There was a famous case of someone cooking cookies with needles in them to give to a fanartist for drawing a ship they didn’t like, I’m pretty sure there was something about threatening showrunners and blackmailing them into making a gay ship canon for Voltron....

Fandom fanatics in general are just the absolute worse, I don’t necessarily feel it’s the fault of the show itself.

Correct me if I’m wrong, it’s been a long while, but for Voltron, I thought the creators burned the shippers by making none of their ships canon. They then tried making shipping a matter of “muh representation”.
You still have a point though, some creators do bring it upon themselves by not being careful with their fandoms.

Oh yeah, sorry, should have always pointed out that your previous also isn’t wrong either. Shows simply cannot control the kind of people they can attract; some of them are even the very antithesis to what they’re show is about.

That SU thing was later confirmed to be unrelated to the show's fanbase IIRC. The girl in question was being bullied in school or something. Not that the SU fanbase can't be shit sometimes, mind you.

You know, I keep hearing that excuse, but like...they still attacked her over the drawing. It may not have been the deciding factor in her attempted suicide, but it sure as shit didn’t help matters. They still treated her like shit for Rose not being “fat enough”.

Oh I'm not defending that part, but misinformation is still shit regardless of what it's aimed at. But like you said, one bad thing being deconfirmed doesn't remove the original problem which the fanbase should rightfully be criticized for.

This more or less proves that it's less about representation (i.e increasing the amount of brown people on screen) as it is sterilizing a beloved cartoon with modern woketivism.

At the end of the day it's not even about spreading agendas as much as it is getting a perfect defense for executives to re-market old cartoons over and over again. Fuck reboots at this point just let shit stay dead.

The show creators had bent over backwards and fought studio interference trying to put "A" gay romance into the plot, but it wasn't the one involving the main characters that the fangirls wanted. I can't remember if that was due to the show creators thinking that the studio wouldn't allow them to make the main character gay or whether they just didn't want to make that character gay.

Why are they ruining the proud family. Aslo the orginal show actually delt with racism in much better way than any shows can now and days. So it sucks that the reboot will just be complete woke propaganda.

I never got the appeal myself, neither the writing nor the ugly art really did anything for me.
