Why it's a reboot of something beloved taking a big whopping gorrilaton shit on the original that everyone will go back to enjoying to erase the memory of watching their "superior" version! Cheese and fucking crackers, and they wonder why they failed.

The Cartoon Cartoons were made specifically to get away from the glorified toy commercials of old (made in part by Hanna-Barbara, the CC creators' mentors) and to prove cartoons can be more art than just marketing tools. I'm all but certain McCracken doesn't care anymore since he ended PPG on his terms and moved on but fuck me running does this make me want to dawn a MOTI top hat.

This, really. Unless you’re making a continuation that’s explicitly FOR the same audience that watched the original (e.g. Samurai Jack), what’s even the point of using an old IP? The audience you want isn’t going to have any nostalgic connection to it, while fans of the old property will dismiss it 99% of the time, usually for good reason.

We’re eventually going to reach a point where reboots stop making money because it’s immediately assumed that they’ll be shit.

Those can get away with it by virtue of being an S rank IP and even then they’re not always received warmly.
In terms of cartoons there has been a notable backlash from the constant barrage of reboots and they’re low quality. There’s a reason one of DuckTales 2017 nicknames is “one of the good ones”.

I wish we had something like What a cartoon! to have a new crop of creator driven cartoons.
With so much money being pumped into streaming services, one would imagine there could be a way to prop up some incubators and let the audience decide what pilots get made into a show. Just let the cartoonist go wild.

Apparently Cartoon Cartoon/What A Cartoon is being revived to be an incubator for new ideas. I only pray it brings in a good batch of animators.

I'll wait until we actually see what cartoons get released to judge them. You have to think about the people who make these cartoons and the executives who greenlight them these days. I'm not expecting anything amazing or for CN to get "saved", but I'll be pleasantly surprised if we get something good from this.

Personally I think there's no hope for cN or Nick now. Ironically it was oversaturation of mediocre content that nearly killed them off. Now between rugrats 2021 the blues clues pride video and letting hacks like nolle Stevenson work for them. There's nothing left to hope for at this point..... Oh well have some more random quotes.

Don't go doomer just yet. Remember CN is doing another go at What A Cartoon so who knows. And of course indie animation by the likes of Newgrounds and Spindlehorse has what TV doesn't anyway. Enjoy those (if you want, I don't care).

Anyways, Alex Hirsch has been slowly burning his career bridge for a while but in celebration of Pride MonthTM, he pressed the fucking nuke button.
