Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

Seems this weeks Owl House is gonna feature a Non-Binary character named "Raine Whispers"

I feel so old and out of touch whenever stuff like this pops up. I think the instance SU Future ended part of my brain literally shut down and was like "no thank you, that's quite enough of that".
All it is, is desperate marketing.

Literally tacking on gender pronouns is a sign that the core elements of whatever being advertised has failed and that they want to market the husk.

Animated INJUSTICE!..... but with none of the original game voice actors.

Im sure it will be good, but come on guys, its not gonna have the same impact.

Either Superman has malnutrition or some weird sideburns and also the stubble look doesn't work for him. Maybe it's just the whole "dictator" thing that amplifies the design too.
I wasn't really a fan of the comics, though the premise was alright but could have used a lot of work. I'm not excited for this but if it turns out okay then I suppose it's worth a look.

As to be expected. Even the males in this show are referred to as "witches" to push inclusive and "gender neutral" crap when the correct term is "warlock".
At least the actor doesn't look like a pedoclown. Just look who they cast in Shera

I'm just happy they didn't get the same "Actress" as Double Trouble to voice Raine

Another low budget "Panda Fighter-esque" movie. This time, it's taken "inspiration" from Frozen and Moana. :story:

In other words, the show got boring, ratings went down, and the writing team needs a crutch.

What's uncanny is that they're trying to copy a bit of Nu-Ra in terms of the two main girls basically being Adora and Glimmer.

I can actually tolerate watching Monkie when even Sean Shithead voices Wukong, but Owl House? 🥱

Is this Harry Potter ripoff still going?

the last season is basically 4 specials airing on weekly basis to wrap it up the us equivalent to a a few ovas used to tie up the loose ends.,...dollars to doughnuts the last ep ends with Luz and Amityville horror pulling a korra and walking off into the "sunset" holding hands or even kissing.

Would this count as the next stage in tokenism or chasing the latest fad? Either way it’s annoying; the character looks even more like a dude than the last two “firsts”.
And you just know people will fall for it and gobble it up just like the last two times.

Literally another 4chan meme

It’s almost a waste to see an animated movie about the Amazon tribe wasted on on Dollar Tree tier knock off movie. It could be a cool culture to explore. The closest we have in animated films is Road to El Dorado.

You won't get it any time soon. Read about what happened with Moana and that they needed like 3 tribal diversity councils that bogged down production and pissed off everyone because the councils tried to delay shit constantly so they could get paid more. Every creative decision needed to be run by them initially and so much work and time wound up being wasted.

If there's ever to be a big budget thing about tribes living in a forest, it has to be fake like James Cameron's Avatar because there's too many diversity grifters out there that would raise a stink about it.

Buck breaking before its time, then?
Actually that wasn't Columbus but a different explorer who wrote fake accounts to make Columbus intentionally look bad. People treated these fake stories as real because white liberals in academia kept trying to raise up other cultures by knocking europeans down in the 1960's.

Off topic, but does anyone remember the rare Flintstones special Cartoon Network made, called "On the Rocks"? I believe it was the only time C-N made use of a Hanna-Barbera property in this way. It's quite interesting, albeit controversial. It was an attempt by C-N to mimic the earlier, more "adult" episodes of the original show:

Directed by the guy who got fired from his own show for being a sex pest.

But seriously, I don't think it was ever aired much. Once or twice, then forgotten.

Which is a shame, in my opinion. Not least because it effectively marks the end of Hanna-Barbera and the beginning of Cartoon Network. It's the bridge between two different eras.
