Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

That's probably the beautiful thing about voice acting is that old voice actors are able to voice their known characters until they die. I still love how June Foray was able to reprise her role as Granny in the Loony Tunes show.

Also I didn't mean to say the voice acting field is growing as a bad thing. It's a defintly good thing! Hell you got people like David Tennet who seems to be doing more voice over stuff as time goes on.

Also that reminds me at some point I would really love to do a post on here discussing a bunch of old cartoons I found form the 90s that star a bunch of great voice actors.
That's generally cartoon tradition... of course, I thought it was a bad thing - as did the rest of you, I assume - when they didn't do it for the PPG reboot. In hindsight the original actresses probably dodged a bullet, but it was still not good.

Generally it's not a good thing to ignore that tradition. Remember in the Jetsons movie, how they had Janet Waldo replaced by Tiffany even though she had recorded most of her dialogue? It was so embarrassing that Joe Barbera went so far as to apologize for it at Don Messick's retirement party.

Thankfully, however, most people give a damn about tradition. Disney's got the same actors playing its star characters, and you hear the same people in the Scooby-Doo stuff... of course, it's anyone's guess who'll be playing who in a new Looney Tunes thing but that's fine.

(Do the post discussing the cartoons. You don't have to wait.)

Ok let's first start off with the cartoon known as Widget which has the voice talents of the late Russi Taylor, late Dana Hill, Kathie Soucie, Jim Cummings, Tress McKellen, Pat Fraley and Peter Cullen. What amazes me about this cartoon is that it has all these voice acting legends in it. Yet it is not that well known.

The Addams family 1992 cartoon series which had John Astin reprising his role as Gomez Addams. A lesser known voice actress Nancy Linari voicing Mortica Addams. Debi Derryberry did Wensday Addams. Jim Cummings did Lurch. Rip Taylor did Uncel Fester. Pugsley Addams was voiced by Jeannie Eilsa. Carol Channing voiced the grandmother. It was an ok cartoon for the 90s.

The New adventures of Woody the woodpecker form 1999 does anyone remmber that it had Billy west as the voice of woody in it.

That's a few for now

The 90s Addams Family was actually pretty good. There was also a 70s cartoon that, frankly, sucked. You could tell this was true because the 90s version used the old theme song and the 70s one didn't.

I never saw the 90s Woody Woodpecker but there were a number of Ren and Stimpy people on it. It's on Universal's streaming service alongside such favorites as The Twisted Tales of Felix the Cat and The New Adventures of He-Man. (Despite the fact Universal owns the Classic Media library there's barely anything from it there.)

I hadn't seen the 70s Addams family. The 90s one was pretty good in that the spirit was clearly there.

Now I have never seen the twisted tales of Felix the cat. Was that any good.

I have all the tapes they released of it. It is indeed very good, one of the most interesting things done with Felix the Cat.

(But it had one of the most troubled productions of any cartoon in history, so I've heard...)

You know speaking about the Loud House before. Has anyone look at the voice actress for Luna Loud Nika Futterman's twitter account?

There's literally noting there. And I do think it's legit her account becuase voice actors like Phil Lamarr, Grey DeLisle, Dee Bradley Baker and Roger Craig Smith follow it.

I just find it weird that's all. Is it one those weird cases where someone decides to scrub their whole account instead of deleting it?

I just wonder if anyone knows why the account is like that?

Some people just don't want to be that active on social media. I respect Tom Kenny for his determination to never tweet.
I have noting against that. I'm happy that Nika Futterman and Tom Kenny don't use social media. I just thought it was odd that's all. I find the voice actors who don't bother with with social media. Tend to be the wisest

Trailer for Ghost and Molly McGee finally released a couple days ago
Any thoughts?
Reminds me a bit of that one show called "Dude, That's My Ghost", from about a decade ago now.

The animation in the trailer is cute and bouncy, but I personally do not care for the art style. The characters pop out pretty well against the backgrounds though, and the backgrounds on their own look good. The characters all look distinct enough from each other on top of that, looks like a cute show.

It is odd in a way, but I guess she just doesn't want any impersonators. That's how I've always seen these situations, at least.

Mr Krabs: Mr. Squidward! What the halibuts goin on in here?!

Squidward: It's a feeding Frenzy sir! and SpongeBob's not back from his break!

Krabs: Arh har harh har harghhh! I thought you said SpongeBob was takin a break! No one's takin a break at the Krusty Krab since the chum famine of 59! now what were ya sayin?

Squidward: He took! A Break!

*Mr. Krabs arms and nose fall off in disbelief*

This is why I continue to believe that Tom Kenny is a god in human form. I hope he continues not to tweet because illusions like that shatter easily.

It literally takes one deranged tweet to ruin that whole illusion.
