what anime could you recommend to a fella? - all the other threads are dead as fuck so im making a new one

Is this some zoomerfag shit? "have on in the background"? how adhd-fucked you have to be that you start a show and dont watch it? whats the fucking point?
Nigga, I'm playing vidya while watching anime titties bounce on my other screen. Just cause you can't multitask doesn't mean it's adhd.

Then watch boku no pico for the 100th time, who the fuck watches GITS for the tits? you barely get some sidebook at best

The premise is that a high school boy gets a love letter along with a pair of underwear and he tries to find out who left them only to find out all the girls around him are perverse lunatics.
This might be one of the gayest and most degenerate TV show plots I have ever heard in my life, and this is an anime recommendations thread so my expectations weren’t very high to begin with. What kind of weirdass shit are you watching, nigga?

Negative prompt recommendation: do NOT watch Lycoris Recoil. There's a nigger in it. It's not a fun nigger like Mr. Popo in Dragon Ball, it's a regular nigger. He's in every episode. To make the netflixization complete, the nigger turns out to be a faggot lmao

One of my now vintage favorites is Space Adventure Cobra, the 1980s TV run of which can be found on TMS's official Youtube channel, based on Buichi Terasawa's manga about a footloose "space pirate" who travels the stars in search of treasure and adventure along side his longtime parter, a cyborg known as Lady Amoroid.

Besides the 1982 film, which has been dubbed a couple of times, there was also a couple of OVA series and a 13-episode TV series released in 2010 or so.

Like I said, it can be a bit racy at times, but one of the main points is the women are insane degenerates and the main character suffers through it. It might be better to watch an episode or two, or possibly watch some clips of the dub, since it might sound worse than it is, although I can understand if the premise gives you pause. As I said, there are parallels to Konosuba in that the cast is filled with lunatics, which is the drawing point for me. If you give it a chance, let me know what you think.

Fate/stay Night, Unlimited Blade Works, Heaven's Feel and Fate/Zero. First three are part of the same story, the last is a prequel. Everything else in the Fate series is optional.
I mean with Deen stay night, I just threw that on after Zero and UBW. I like it in the Hanna Barbara kind of way, where clearly a animator or 2 died in the middle of a scene, Monty Python style. Embrace the meme lol.

If you want a slice of life series, my go to is BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad. It's about a teen who feels life is going nowhere, but he learns how to play guitar from his swim teacher and eventually starts a rock band. Only weird anime thing about it is one of the characters has a weird looking dog Frankensteined together from other dogs and it is never explained.

Trigun is a fun sci-fi Western. Main character acts like a complete dork going on about love & peace and yet somehow is wanted for the complete destruction of an entire city. As the series goes on, you learn the lead is a lot more involved as to why humans landed on a desert planet and how a pacifist nuked an entire city. Only recall two episodes being filler with one being a recap episode, but they're side by side with each other so it's a short break from the main plot.

Drifters. Want to see historical figures being taken from their moment of death to fight in a fantasy land against monsters that are being led by someone who may in fact be Jesus Christ? This is for you. Made by the same guy who did Hellsing, it suffers from the exact same problem the 2001 Hellsing series had; the creator is too fucking slow at making manga so the series fucking halted. Unlike Hellsing 2001, it doesn't make it's own story to mixed reception. No, it did the common trend of having only one season. I don't fault the anime though since Hirano makes content at a glacier's pace.

Well since this topic kinda died... .allow me to revive/hijack it.

So.... recommend ME some anime!

Like I said on Page 6 I'm not into modern shit. 2006 is my cut-off point but I'd prefer 80s and 90s.

I prefer sci-fi or fantasy settings.

I would prefer movies or short-lived OVAs over long-lasting TV series.

For the sake of helping you gauge my tastes, here's some examples of anime I liked:

*3x3 Eyes
*Galaxy Express 999 (the first movie, though I liked the few eps I saw of the TV series too).
*Gall Force: Eternal Story and its sequels
*Gray: Digital Target
*Lily C.A.T.
*Samurai Troopers (aka Ronin Warriors)
*The Slayers (both the movies and the TV series)
* the Ys anime

Anime I tried to watch but just couldn't get into:
*Akazukin ChaCha - its adorable but after three episodes it failed to hook me.
*Pretty Cure (not sure which one I saw) - Look, I like Sailor Moon, but that has nostalgia and some interesting ideas going for it. I don't need something that could be described as "Sailor Moon but with details changed so we can pretend its a new property."
*Mobile Suit Gundam (original TV series) - Unfortunately for this show, I wound up watching Super Dimension Fortress Macross first, and that's basically a similar but more interesting story overall.
*Sei Juushi Bismarck (Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs) - this is a show I might've liked had I seen it earlier but it felt just like another generic robot show to me, and to be honest all "super robot" shows feel like they're the same thing. It's the same problem as Pretty Cure, basically.

Anyway that should give you a baseline to work with.

Desert Punk. It was a show that felt like the last gasp of the 90s.

Post apocalyptic anime that's quite funny.

I have a real soft spot for Saber Rider but it was first on when I was a teenager. It's corny as hell but great.

One thing I will say for Saber Rider is that, speaking as someone who did not grow up with it.... I slightly prefer the English Dub.

I don't know if this is because of things being lost in translation or what, but when it comes to a lot of 1980s super robot anime, its difficult for me to see what makes each one special or unique. A lot of times they just feel like retreads with slight variations on the gimmick.

Meanwhile western-made 1980s cartoons always feel unique to me, even when they're blatant copycats (for example, Challenge of the Go-Bots is clearly trying to be Transformers but I can still spot enough differences that it makes it worth experiencing in its own right).

And this also benefits shows like Saber Rider which got heavily westernized, because it feels like that makes them stand out a bit when they wouldn't have originally. Like I remember the blonde girl (I forget her name--April?) feeling more like a unique character whereas in the Japanese version she was just your standard girlfriend.

(That said, I only watched, like, three episodes, so maybe I'm speaking out of my ass)

ok so write this down somewhere: bible black and boku no pico. these are highly regarded anime series

Last Exile (2003) is a good introduction anime. It's CGI is a little dated and it's plot is a little slow but it's an interesting watch.

You know what, early Naruto and Bleach where both really strong. The Zabuza through the Chuunin Exam arcs are genuinely good, with some early parts of Shippuden being good too. It only really goes off the deep end into shit after the Pain arc. Bleach is great up to the Soul Society arc, there's still some good moments after but it's a slog to get through. I don't even hate the movies either.

Both Fullmetal Alchemist series are good and are pretty uniform in quality but the movies are kind of shit. The show has a definitive ending too which I liked.
Black Lagoon is great if you like John Woo films and you want something more gritty. The manga is still ongoing with episodic style to the arcs.
Hellsing can be a bit over the top but it's kind of great for just how retarded it is. The original anime from the 90s has a great soundtrack.
The Desert Punk is actually funny something that can't be said for most anime.
Angels Egg is weird and experimental, probably one of the few "art" anime out there.
Full Metal Panic is a good mecha that's more grounded than most. Great characters gets a bit muddled in the middle.
Neon Genesis Evangelion is a mixed bag but it's a cultural corner stone of the early Internet so I'd watch it just for that alone. The movies are okay, I'd watch them for the completeness factor.
Ghost in the Shell, both SAC and 2nd GIG are very good cyberpunk anime that don't go full Blade Runner dystopia. The OG movie is a classic with a some what mediocre sequel. I can't remember the TV show films.
The Cyperpunk show from Trigger is the best show I've seen in years. They really understood how bleak the universe is, really good characters.
Perfect Blue is a far more honest look at idol/celebrity culture and mental illness than I think most weebs are comfortable with.
The Blame movie is kind of mediocre but I liked it for what it was. The manga is much better but is pretty different.
Most of the Studio Ghibli films are good kids films that you can enjoy as an adult. Strong recommendation if you've got children.
Vampire Hunter D is very pretty but I can't remember anything about it other than that. I'd watch for that alone.
Serial Experiments Lain. I know Null didn't like it but it's like NGE for me. It had a big influence on Internet culture and I think it's worth watching for that.
FLCL is another classic. It's a coming of age story with great visuals that can be pretty trippy at times.
Kite and Mezzo Forte both kind of suck dick the moment you think about them too much but it's good looking and got good action. The only con is the random sex scenes.
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is good but I feel like you have to be at a certain age to really appreciate it. It loses something the older you are.
Texhnolize is a good cyberpunk show, depressing though.
Darker Than Black is cool and I'm probably the only person who didn't hate the sequel.
I liked Scrapped Princess but I can't remember why.
Cromartie High School is another usually funny anime.

There's a bunch of anime from the early 00's that I bunch together like Witch Hunter Robin, Ergo Proxy, Noir, Claymore, Blood+, Gilgamesh,
Gunslinger Girl, Animatrix, Last Exile, Wolf's Rain, etc that I just group together. They are all aimed at adults/older teens and it feel like the anime industry was trying to be more Western. They are okay to boring in terms of quality. Interestingly the animation was mostly good for all these for some reason but wasn't very anime like. Ghost Stories has a really fun dub and the British dub of Urusei Yatsura is good if you know anything about late 90's to early 00's bong comedy. I'd stay away from any of the new Isekai bullshit.

I promises I'm not a weeb, I just spent far too much time online back in the day.
