I can say this yet again on Kiwifarms so that I do not heavily powerlevel, and it's that I cannot have nightmares.
If the nightmare is about to happen, it just doesn't. The "threat" will no longer give that sensation and blend as part of the background/actions happening around; or I may confront it and defeat it; or I'll actually start to enjoy it, flipping the feeling of the nightmare completely around, so it no longer is.
I actually want to have them once in a while, because it would be like a horror movie, but see, if this feeling persists it already defeats its effect.
The
closest thing that comes to it is not fear or something scary, but an overwhelm of information. An example would be me keeping track of what's happening in like a couple of dozen TV screens at the same time, or keeping track of super-fast pacing dialogues where each new sentence is linked to the previous as a conclusion.
I remember one "about to happen" nightmare I had; it was like the face of a mix between the The Ring girl and the Ju-on kid with the black eyes and mouth, just a couple of inches away from mine, in front of me. It was starting to open its black mouth and scream, with that coarse voice, at that point that "feeling of nightmare"
should have happened, instead, it completely defused as I tried to reach their face and bite them.
The same happened with another monster in another dream. I was in a series of rooms, and this creature was like a big shadow running around in the carpet, making the stepping noises
really fast and progressively louder. When I suddenly had to confront it, the "feeling of the nightmare" should have started & peaked, I instead drilled some holes in them.

We can get along in our dreams, just don't do weird stuff to me because I will defend myself.
